Heartland production offers fans a chance to be an extra on the show

The Heartland production wants you to be in a future episode of the longest running Canadian family dramas in history. 

If you have been a fan of the series during the past 17 seasons, you may remember that the Heartland production hosts a special day of filming where fans are invited to be part of a group of background extras. 

It has always been a fun time. Fans can be part of an episode as it's being made and also get a chance to see the cast in person. 

Well, the next opportunity to be part of an episode of Heartland is here! 

The Heartland production sent us all of the details on how you can participate:

CALGARY, AB – A message to Heartland fans who can be in the Calgary area on Monday, July 15, 2024:

For many seasons, Heartland has invited fans on set to participate directly in filming as "extras." Whether it's your first time joining the Heartland set, or you have joined us for previous seasons, please read the details below for more information about Heartland Season 18 Fan Extras Day!

Heartland is currently filming Season 18 set to premiere on CBC and CBC Gem in Fall 2024. We are excited to welcome fans who may be in the Calgary area or willing to travel to the Calgary area for our favourite time of the year – Heartland Season 18 Fan Extras Day! 

We are going to have the biggest, most exciting Heartland Fan Extras Day! to date, and we need a crowd of hundreds on Monday, July 15, 2024. Filming will be in the afternoon. Fans who wish to participate in the event can RSVP to be with the Heartland cast and crew that day and spend several hours as part of a rodeo event crowd. Check-in will start at 2:00pm MT (subject to change). 

If you are interested in being a Fan Extra, here are a few things the Heartland production has asked that pay close attention to before you RSVP to express your interest to attend:

1) Candidates will be chosen in the order of RSVP responses received. RSVP does not guarantee admission. Those accepted will be sent a confirmation email with additional details by Tuesday, July 9th, 2024.

You MUST RSVP for EACH individual attending including name, email address, and birth date. Your contact information will not be shared to any third party, and will only be used for RSVP purposes to the Heartland Season 18 Fan Extras Day. 

As capacity is limited, registration for the Fan Day will close once we reach the maximum number of participants. We encourage you to secure your spot as soon as possible to request participation.

2) Babies and toddlers cannot participate in this event, so production asks that you do not register or bring any children under the age of 6. This is due to the nature of filming, where participants will be shared instructions on the day of filming for their on-camera interactions as "extras."

3) The scenes being filmed are at an exciting rodeo competition! If selected, you will be asked to dress accordingly, as if you were going to a rodeo event like Calgary Stampede. Wear your cowboy hats and western attire! Additional details to follow for confirmed attendees.

4) You will be asked to arrive the afternoon of MONDAY, JULY 15TH, 2024. The scenes will be filmed over 5-6 hours. We ask that fans remain for the duration of filming. It will be fun! Various cast and crew will address the crowd. You may even have a chance to see your favourite Heartland actors, and get a sneak peek of what is to come for Heartland Season 18.

5) The location will be within one hour driving distance from Downtown Calgary. As soon as the capacity has been reached, production will notify those fans accepted by Tuesday, July 9th, 2024. When contacted, those accepted will receive additional information such as detailed timing, location, photo release to fill out, do's and don'ts as well as a map to the set.

This is an outdoor event, and seating will be provided in bleachers. There will be additional accessible seating for those who require it. Please plan accordingly for the weather and bring any necessary items.

6) This event is subject to weather conditions, and the timing may be adjusted accordingly. We recommend staying informed through the Heartland official channels for any updates or changes to the event schedule.

Confirmation emails will be sent by end of day on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024. If you don't receive anything by then, the Heartland production will be unable to accommodate your request. Check your spam folders just in case!
