The Challenge 40 Recap: A Legend of the Game Faces an Early Exit — Plus, Another Round of Laurel vs. Cara
How’s that for a nail-biter?
In Wednesday’s episode of The Challenge, Era 1 continued to struggle in the Daily challenges, leading to an explosive argument between targets Tina and CT. (They apologized to each other shortly after — aww, maturity!) But with that L came another trip to the Arena for the OGs, as Tina prepped to face champ Emily in the sand, while CT was matched up against someone he’s sent home before: Nehemiah.
Luckily for Nehemiah, the competition was not physical. (I mean, who wants to get down and dirty with that monster from Boston? Answer: No one!) Rather, contestants had to remove 100 nails from a giant board, then nail them back into an adjacent one. The first one to do so and hit their button stays in the game.
Emily and Tina are up first and while one would expect Emily to absolutely annihilate anything she tries (she’s never lost an elimination before!), no one — and I mean no one! — knew how much Tina loved The Home Depot. The Era 1 vet drops those nails within seconds and is able to destroy Challenge champ Emily. (Tina says she goes to the Home Depot more than the grocery store. Say what?!)
Next up is CT, who’s worked in construction for years and has a lot of brawn behind those brains. Yet despite being the favorite to win, Nehemiah remains competitive throughout the entire go, and slaps that button before CT can finish nailing. And out goes one of The Challenge’s best players ever.
To be fair, none of the women are sad to see Emily go, nor are the guys fretting CT’s exit. They’re both huge competitors no one wants to see in a final. To be honest, it all kinda-sorta evens the playing field out a bit.
The new targets for next week: Brad and Rachel, Laurel and Bananas, Cory and Jonna, and Jenny and Josh.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t touch on the drama between Cara Maria and Laurel, but I seesaw between rooting for Cara and being completely over this storyline. This week, Michele gets into it with Laurel, who is still mad that Michele threw her into elimination during Ride or Dies. Cara jumps to Michele’s defense, which turns into a huge blowout between Cara and Laurel.
First of all, did anyone notice the lack of physical space between the women once Laurel started popping off on Cara? Rude. Cara says Laurel’s “being an a–hole to everyone in the house,” while Laurel continues to degrade, scream and look down on her former friend. Sigh. (And word on the street is that a lot was cut out from the episode.)

So sad to see CT go. But as usual he handled it like a champ. I’m going to miss those “CT PRO TIPS” 😂.
If they decided to cut that Cara/ Laurel fight down then I want to see it! I am team Cara always! Everything Laurel says is a complete contradiction! I mean sure Cara yelled but Laurel was the one who got up in her face. Heck her last words were “I always have your back, or something like that “ I mean how is Cara supposed to believe that after getting thrown in At the first chance!
According to Cara Maria’s Tik Tok a lot was cut out for legal reasons (stuff they can’t show). Laurel’s “I always had your back” was in reference to her abusive relationships and nothing to do with the game.

Team Cara all the way !!! Laurel is a big Bully and acts like she’s so great yet afraid to go against anyone that is a good player. And for her to say she beat Cara in the last challenge! Please with 3 advantages that were given to her and even at that they were neck and neck at the end !
TEAM CARA!!! THE 🐐🐐🐐, I hope one day Laurel gets what she deserves cuz she exhibits serious narcissistic traits!! And she’s a flat out bully!!
Always sad when CT exits. Laurel is a bully. Can’t wait until she’s eliminated Love Cara but she needs a strong back bone
I’m so sad my fave of all time CT is gone , I don’t really care who wins anymore. Nurys, Horatio and CT are the ones I enjoy watching compete. Kylan is pretty awesome too!
I think laural is straight up one of the meanist people that I ever saw the way she puts cara down is so ugly that sometimes it’s hard to watch she is just a bully it’s not only the way she treats cara but the way she treats everyone I still remember to this day the way she talked to big easy when she and other people were in the hot tub and she just started yelling at big easy that he was fat and disgusting and no one would ever want him because of the way he looks and when I saw that I really wish I could have jumped threw my tv to beat her ass for all of those mean things to him and she still does that crap to this day especially to people that she thinks are beneath her if I was cara Marie I would say fuck the money kick me off the show and beat her ass because no amount of money is worth being put down and humiliated especially not on tv were all of your family and friends can see you getting miss treated and wondering why you don’t just drop her big ass in the dirt I know she may need the money but I feel her pride and her self respect she come first before money because I guarantee that it she would just beat the crap out of laural one time laural would stop it because laural tells people how in over the years she has become a better person I don’t see it that at all I still see a very conceited person who only care’s about herself and I’m a animal person and if I walked into a animal hospital with her working there I would not let her treat my pet because pets are just like people and with the way treats people I wouldn’t be surprised if she treats animals just as bad
Team Cara all the way, I can’t stand Laurel she treat Cara like crap and she is rude and a bully, I would love to take her on!!!! Poor C.T. I hate that he is gone so early, I just love him!!!! I hate that Nurys and Horacio are gone too!!!! I want them back!!!! Get Laurel out of there I would love to see Cara my total favorite beat Laurel in a elimination and send her home!!!!

I really wish one of these girls would become woman and put Laurel in her place.she is the most disgusting person I have seen on Television , and that’s saying alot…She needs to take a long look in the mirror and reflect on herself..
O think laurel should be removed from the next challenge series and any to come until she gets her mouth and her attitude in check.she bring the moral of the whole house down. Sad so sad..and unfortunately I know with this comment the producers are eating it up and saying “good job laurel, your doing it right”.
