About us

Welcome to Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees. Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is a local charity formed in 2017 to help support refugees from Syria resettling in the Sevenoaks district, as part of the UK Government's Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (SVPRS). That scheme has now evolved into the Government's global UK Resettlement Scheme, and we are also involved in helping refugees from Afghanistan to resettle in our area. We are a small and growing organisation, with about 160 active volunteers. We are currently supporting the resettlement of 36 refugee families - from Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Pakistan - in the Sevenoaks district area, and are hoping to find accommodation for further families this year. This group is for those who would like to take an active role in helping to organise the group and volunteers and come up with new ideas. We have no religious or political affiliation. We are all inclusive with the aim of helping some of the most vulnerable families in the world. Our main rule we expect everyone to abide by is please no threatening, racist or abusive language or behaviour. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about refugees, our ethos and our aims. All are welcomed, so come, enjoy and let's help build a better world, piece by piece, one refugee family at a time
