The biggest feast Survivor‘s Maria ever had wasn’t last week’s scrumptious Applebee’s meal. No sir. It was the epic blindside of Tiffany, which she says at the top of Wednesday’s episode “lit such a fire in me.” But does claiming credit for such a major move make Maria the game’s biggest target?
In short: YUP!
But while Kenzie cries to herself about being left out of the vote, “idol fever” quickly takes over. It’s not quite the Cagayan idol sprint, but everyone is hunting around for this bad boy. (Well, everyone who’s not catching some Zs.) The lucky castaway? Venus. She finds the idol, stashes it in her jacket and then smartly rejoins the rest of the tribe to continue “searching.”
Maria’s move is obviously high on everyone’s radars, and Charlie is happy to give her all of the accolades. Why? Because it shifts the focus far, far away from him. Kenzie, Venus and Liz then wisely approach him about possibly voting off either Q or Maria, but it’s all going to come down to who wins that coveted necklace.
IMMUNITY IS BACK UP FOR GRABS | Players must balance a ball on a pole through an obstacle course before maneuvering it through a snake track and sinking it into a net. First player to land two balls in wins immunity and also some of Fiji’s best pizza! (No need to freak, Liz. Gluten-free crusts are on the menu!)
The snake track proves to be no joke. Everyone sinks the first ball with relative ease, but that second net gives everyone hell. It’s another nail-biting finish, this time between Maria and Venus, but the former wins it all — and judging by earlier conversations, she really needed this one!
She picks Ben to join her for the grub, but when she gets to make a second selection, things get dicey. She can’t decide between Liz, Venue and Q, and ultimately tells Q and Liz to play rock, paper, scissors for it. This does not sit well with the four people not chosen. As we’ve seen on many seasons past, they judge Maria’s decision harder because she’s a mom (and because she said she was basing her decision on people’s levels of deterioration), and they’re all cranky that Q, who just ate that mouthwatering Applebee’s Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp, is getting to chow down again. In Maria’s defense though, Q picked her for the last reward, so she wanted to do him a solid back. Really, everyone just seems hangry! And who can blame them?
Despite the food sitch, leaving Charlie behind with the ladies probably isn’t the best idea. The “pizza losers” (Charlie’s words, not mine) talk about cutting Q. They’re sick of his biz and are completely aware that Maria is purposely keeping him close. And if they can’t get Maria, why not get her (perceived) No. 1? (Or at least that’s the story Charlie’s happily selling.) Q, however, pitches Venus as the vote and Ben agrees that he’s totally not down with her bad vibes. (Guess bad vibes do not rock?)
Charlie weighs his options, but when Venus alludes to a possible advantage she has up her sleeve, it seems to shake him a bit. Will the power of being in the middle get to his head or set him up for eventual failure? Let’s carry our torches to Tribal and find out!
THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN | Probst doesn’t bring popcorn this time around, but he does bring licorice (and not that black kind… gross!). He kindly gives the remaining seven one piece to split amongst themselves. What a softie.
Maria takes more heat for her reward decision (mostly from the disgruntled Venus), while Kenzie speaks on being blindsided but still needing to work with the people who did it. Liz moans and groans (quite literally) about Q, but she makes more weird vocal sounds than definitive points, sooooo that’s all one big shrug emoji. Q tells Jeff that everyone knows not to say a name in front of Venus because she’ll run off and squeal to everyone around her.
The paranoia and tension are riding high as everyone makes his and her way up to the voting podium. When Jeff finishes his candy and tallies the votes, Venus does not play her idol and just like Tevin, Hunter and Tiff before her, she’s voted out with safety sitting right there in her pocket. (Read our Q&A with Venus here.)
Did Charlie make the right decision? And why the heck did Ben vote for Kenzie?! Go full tilt boogie and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
HAHAHAHA Venus thought she was so much smarter than everybody else. BUH BYE !!!
I’m mystified and dumbfounded that Kenzie, Charlie, and Liz – who multiple times in group and confessional chats – said Q has to go, yet they voted for Venus?!!! Every time Q survives, his clout grows. He is stronger than anyone left, meaning he can lead and win physical challenges. This felt like the wrong move, and I don’t understand from the edit we saw why any of these 3 voted for Venus and not Q. Charlie even had a promise from Venus to tell him her secret after Q was gone, which would guarantee final 4. Charlie didn’t know what it was, but still – everything these 3 relayed was that Q was gone. Liz hates him! Yet no Q vote. I don’t understand their thinking … Just … I don’t.
This has to be the dumbest group ever. Why not get Q out? Liz and Kenzie voting for Venus what where do they think they will end up? If they had voted Q out and next time Liz, Kenzie and Charlie could have voted out Maria? But no ……….. I am not even sure it’s worth watching this group till the end. And yes another person goes home with an Idol!
This is such a weird season. Everybody who found an idol has been voted out with it because they thought they could keep it for next vote.
At the rate things are going Q will win because he’s outplayed everyone else on the island by them keeping him around time and time again. How many times did they say “he’s gotta go. But we can do it next time”.
No one will vote for Q at the end. Charlie switched his vote to take Venus’ advantage out of play. The ideal final three for him would be with Liz and Q (or Ben) as none of them could win. Maria, Charlie, and Kenzie are the only three with a real shot at it.
This is a whole season of going home with an idol in the pocket.
Big mistake not voting out Q. You could see how confident he was during the counting of votes. Venus just as bad for not using the idol…everyone thinks they’re untouchable…4 in a row and nobody learns…
What a terrible season. Too many unlikable & dumb players. Why in the world would Venus not play her idol? Like with Tiff, wasn’t it obvious she was on Maria’s radar? Just not getting why if Maria is tight with Q, wouldn’t that tell these other players that aren’t “in” with Maria, it’s a good chance it’s them that’s going home and not Q?
Venus thought her social game was amazing and she knew what was going on so she didn’t have to use her idol. Apparently girl’s social game wasn’t that great.
It would be hilarious if whoever finds the idol next episode, will play the damn thing for Q to keep him around longer.
Venus ego killed her. She is/was way to cocky and cocky never wins Survivor. I’m so glad she is gone, should have went weeks ago.
Now the back half of the Immunity Challenge was intense…
.
Showing the amount of time it took for Maria to make a decision on who would be the final person to go on the reward is reason why people think this shouldn’t be a 90 minute show
.
As soon as Venus found the idol and they way they were editing her in this episode already had me thinking could it be 3 weeks in a row that someone goes home with an idol in their pocket? This is becoming a weekly occurrence as much as talk about voting out Q.
.
And I’m wondering if anyone is thinking if this year’s idol is cursed after the last 3 tribals. >:P
Couldn’t STAND VENUS all season. Besides, that she has a pretty name, just like Jem. I can’t wait to watch it each Friday because that’s when the site has the episode. My favorites are Charlie, Ben, Kenzie as the final three. I may be delusional, but that’s my faves this season.
Charlie’s playing a great game but also get the winner’s edit
Ben voted for Kenzie in case Venus played an idol.Of course it would be a tie between Q and Kenzie and then a revote.
The idol curse is winning!
Im loving Jeff’s snacks!!! whats next?
I thought it would be Liz. She is so whiny all the time. Venus over did the bitter response to Q.and Maria. I hope Maria wins.
The cast this season is not terribly likable, and not terribly smart. Have they set a record yet for number of idols in pockets and being sent home? After two in a row, you’d think the players wouldn’t be making the same mistake, but here we are. Liz’s constant whining is too much-why would someone with this many food sensitivities to what you know will be available go on this show? I’m rooting for Charlie and Kenzie, and at this point, with how many votes he’s survived, even Q is deserving of the win.
I was not a Venus fan but I want Q and Maria to go and my favorite is Kensie. And Charlie is so dumb. I am disappointed with Maria not giving food for Venus and the other lady was begging for food.!!!! That showed me how I don’t like Q….Maria …That episode was hard to watch knowing everybody has ate. And she begged Maria….
how is Charlie being dumb. by playing the best game?
