Truth is most definitely stranger than fiction in Anatomy of Lies, the three-part Peacock documentary series about the meteoric rise and shocking fall of Grey’s Anatomy executive producer/writer Elisabeth Finch.
If you’re unfamiliar with the disgraced power player’s story, the gist is this: For years, Finch told tall tales about how she survived a rare form of bone cancer, lost a kidney and even decided to have an abortion because of treatment. Only it was all BS, a fact that only came to light when Vanity Fair published an exposé in 2022, long after Finch had even managed to incorporate elements of “her” experience into Grey’s Anatomy episodes.
“Her final mark,” reads Peacock’s description of the doc, “was trauma survivor Jennifer Beyer, who entrusted Finch with her deepest secrets. But as Beyer uncovers the web of lies that deceived Hollywood for years, she faces a daunting challenge: Can she reclaim the narrative from a convincing storyteller who showed no signs of stopping?”
All three episodes drop on Tuesday, Oct. 15. To see if you can watch the trailer without going “Seriously?!?” repeatedly, press PLAY on the video above.
Didn’t know about this. Just looked it up and it’s a wild ride of a story. Should be an interesting documentary.
How can it possibly be that two comments have been posted already and not one has said Grey’s Anatomy is horrible and should be canceled?
Hahaha. I definitely did a spit take on that comment.
Sorry I was l late.
Because some people have reading comprehension and that comment has very little to do with the article?
I have read about this. It is wiiiiild.
They should have kept her on staff — she sounds like the kind of compelling storyteller the show really needs. (J/K)
Other than the parties directly involved, does anyone actually care about this? Elisabeth Finch is not exactly a household name, and there is no indication her lies involved fraud or had anything to do with her getting the job on Greys. There are all kinds of liars in the world, and that doesn’t mean they should have TV dramas written about them. This really doesn’t seem worthy of a TV drama.
Documentary
Doesn’t matter. A documentary should be about someone interesting or significant. This person is neither.
It IS interesting, because most people are curious to see how low some individuals are willing to sink just to get ahead in life :)
Yes, people are interested.
“there is no indication her lies involved fraud”
Uh, what? Clearly her alleged lies involved complete and utter fraud. Is English not your first language?
Finally….THIS might get me to subscribe to Peacock.
This story is SCANDALOUS. Surprised Shonda et al didn’t pick up on it while it was happening.
