Irrepressible Evil star Katja Herbers let loose with a “HOLY S–T!!!!” reaction after Stephen King, Master of Horror, elaborated on his affection for the “very scary” and “joyful” — but alas cancelled — Paramount+ drama.
Earlier this week, an interview clip circulated of King naming Evil as a TV show that he likes. “It’s great,” he said. “It’s funny and it’s witty and it’s very, very sharp.”
That snippet alone got Herbers asking on X, “OKAY CAN WE DO THE PICK UP NOW?” (Since the day of Evil’s cancellation, Herbers has lobbied the likes of Netflix to ride to the show’s rescue.)
But then King went deeper with his Evil love, posting on X that the horror thriller from Robert and Michelle King is “smart, thought-provoking, occasionally VERY scary. Plus, the chemistry between the three evil-hunters is strong and… to quote [Vice President/presidential candidate] Kamala [Harris]… joyful.”
That is when Herbers had her “holy s–t” reaction, adding a heart-eyes emoji and re-re-re-reiterating, “K maybe we can do the pick up now.
“We’re honored,” she responded to Stephen King. “Thank you.”
Series co-creator Robert King also was moved by the novelist’s championing of Evil, posting to X that it is “such an honor” — and also noting, “By the way, no relation” (in case you were wondering).
The fact that Evil would end with its fourth season (which finaled last week) was announced back in February, well ahead of the show’s May 23 return. Since the week of April 29, the show has lived comfortably — for 11 straight weeks! — on Nielsen’s weekly U.S. ranking of streaming originals.
With the release of Seasons 1 and 2 to Netflix, Evil ranked No. 2 on Nielsen’s originals chart for a full month, and it has even sneaked its way onto Nielsen’s much more competitive overall ranking a total of three times.
At last tally, Evil ranked No. 5 among streaming originals, with more than 400 million minutes viewed on Paramount+ as well as Netflix.
This show is one of my top ten all time shows now and it takes a lot to break into that opinionated territory. That being said the ending could be better and more seasons are deserved
Remember that the Kings were blindsided by the cancellation and had to tell one or two season’s worth of stories in four episodes. It was rushed for sure, but it wasn’t the Kings’ fault.
Agreed that more seasons would be great!
I thought the Kings did quite well with the 4 episodes they were given.
Paramount needs the money for Yellowstone spin-offs. They won’t stop until they get to 0000 – where a virgin named Mary Dutton gives birth on the ranch.
It’s streaming… They don’t care about keeping existing customers, only getting new ones. That is why every streaming show seems to end so soon.
Evil deserves to be saved. Fantastic and witty with a hint of horror. Love it.
WE NEED MORE “EVIL” !!!!!!
It is one of the best series I have ever seen and I love the characters so much. It is scary, it is funny, completely unexpected and surprising! You cannot remove this show from the people who love it, including Stephen King himself! There is a serious shortage of good shows on TV these days. PLEASE bring back “EVIL” !!!!!!!
Oh PLEASE somebody pick it up! Original and witty. The kids alone could carry a show! Not much gives me the heebeejeebees, bit this certainly does!
At the beginning I looked up the actresses playing the kids, because I thought they had to be real life sisters. The way they interact is so completely believable.
Very disappointed to see Evil cancelled. Whose bright idea was that! There are so many options and reasons for this show to continue . If there is a petition I’ll sign it. This show had a great story line and amazing actors…plus a very loyal audience. Way NOT to go! Bring Evil back!
I always wondered why profitable shows get cancelled, is it the expense, or have they simply run out of ideas. What ever the reason it seems that everytime one goes away, all of those that follow are in stiff competition. If they don’t receive the ratings, they are not allowed to grow an audience, they simply go away, most without closure, or they are abandoned on a cliffhanger. The networks, both old and new have forgotten that some of the most loved and profitable shows took a few seasons to pick up an audience, and what was lost in the beginning was doubled as new viewers looked for the episodes they missed. It kind of makes me wish I ran a network.
If the show is profitable, as you put it, it likely would not be cancelled…
Cancelled my Paramount+ subscription after I finished the last episode. EVIL might be one of the best shows of the last decade. The fact they cancelled it to pay for Yellowstone and Drag Race shows you how inept the office of ceo (so weird that’s a thing), truly are.
I have an annual that doesn’t expire until February. As soon as we finished the last episode, I canceled giving the Evil cancellation as my reason.
I know we’re not alone in this.
They didn’t cancel Evil for Drag Race- reality is incredibly inexpensive to produce compared to scripted fare. They probably did factor in Yellowstone and/or its spinoffs though.. I’d most certainly rather have more Evil seasons than Yellowstone or its spinoffs.
Evil is an excellent show. One of my reasons for subscribing to P+
There certainly is at least one more season/cycle left… even if it’s just 8 eps like the typical Netflix run. You know Ben is likely working for a company if demons and will ni doubt need his pals help at some point… then Leland Bing held by a group of nuns is bound to off the edge… oh and Kristen’s demon baby crawling loose at the Vatican should take up an episode or two…
Since the first two seasons are on Netflix now, it wouldn’t surprise me if Netflix is monitoring how well the show is doing. We haven’t heard anything yet, though.
Send your letters to the Skydance people if you want a revival because they’ll call the shots now.
save our show
I would love to have more seasons. This has been one of my favorite shows since I started watching.
Always assumed this show ended because the Kings wanted to end it. Never thought Paramount+ would be shortsighted as to cancel one of their true gems. If everyone involved wanted to do more, you give them the money and LET THEM DO MORE!
The plots and story lines were great but the cinematography wasn’t up to the necessary evil. Paramount filmed it so it could, with minor editing, fit it into a one hour 10 pm time slot if they needed a filler program.
Bring back EVIL and on another streamer so it can live up to its full potential.
Please, please, please bring back my favorite series!!!!! I waited till last night to watch the final episode bc I didn’t want it to be over. I got all teared up as I watched the final scenes. Why would it be canceled with obviously millions of viewers. BIG mistake😢
Finally, we get great contemporary black comedy and the powers that be canceled it. What travesty in this highly political streaming industry…And, yes Jonathan, the could’ve been better. Good, but anticlimactic.
We need Evil series back on the air!!!! So many people loved the series! It would pay for itself in subscription!!!! PLEASE!!!!
I might have to stop watching television altogether. Networks always cancel all the best shows!
‘Evil’ is by far the best show on television. Its everything television used to be, and more!
I for one am sick of the rinse repeat TV that gets thrown at us. Almost everything else currently on air is just a bit blah!
Listen to your audience and stop canceling quality television.
These pleas (not just hers) always seem so very unprofessional. She is supposed to be a grown woman and a professional actress, but she keeps whining like a bratty child. Yeah, I’m sure she misses the paycheck, but shows are cancelled all the time and nobody owes you a renewal. It is part of Show Business, grow up and move on.
Isn`t it kinda funny how the small shows always have the most delusional fanbases? The kind that actually believes their little niche-show is some kind of Stranger Things-esque hit, and wonders why it got canned. It is like these fans loose their sense of reality and then complain when the real world does not match their delusions.
The people have spoken: Evil is a hit show, filled with intelligence and very scary ideas, which are both interesting, and thought provoking. Watch this show for it’s powerful ideas, and a cast who continues to surprise. The acting is superb; I want to see more. Please don’t cancel this show, it’s unique format is truly TV watching at it’s best. If Stephen King says so, well I agree. Write in and comment, make a statement of your wishes to see this show continue.
People have indeed spoken and Evil is cancelled. (:
Yeah I was pretty upset and evil ended I didn’t really like the ending I’m hoping somebody else picked it up The only reason I was watching Paramount was they had all evil season I called the cancel and they offered me two months it seems like every time I try to cancel they try to get me back with freebies I ain’t the only one that feels this way I see another message from users that after Paramount evil show was over then they’re done with it The only reason I kept it was I already paid this month and the offering another 2 months top of that I actually that was the only payment I’ve made in the past couple of months before when I try to cancel before they gave me 2 months before that well it really got my payments when I call the canceled the show and then she offered me the 2 months Will have to worry about it for 3 months so I figured why not for free they don’t definitely have enough shows to watch they’re good enough they don’t really have anything and Netflix only gives you two seasons evil there ain’t no new ones I’ve been waiting for sandman come out on Netflix forever well as where was Sam and it came out way before this but their night agent is coming out before then done wrong I do like it’s good show
What do you have against punctuation marks?
Come on, powers that be. Evil is a fantastic show that deserves many more seasons. Why would you cancel such a brilliantly scary show? I love the chemistry among the actors and the special effects are “to die for”! It’s the main reason I opted into Paramount +.

I’m going to miss it. I canceled Paramount+ the day after the final show.
WE NEED MORE “EVIL” !!!!!! If evil goes Paramount goes with it for me and many others. The only reason I have Paramount Plus was to watch evil. Every great show has been canceled and I am thoroughly sick of watching all the best shows get canceled without The public’s opinion. We are your audience we are the public we demand more evil or you will be losing money when everyone cancels your streaming Channel.
