Bridgerton Casts Halo Star for Benedict’s Love Interest, as Production Officially Begins for Season 4 — Get First Look
Bridgerton has found its Lady in Silver.
The Netflix drama has cast Yerin Ha (Halo, Dune: Prophecy) as Sophie Baek (né Beckett in the novels) for Season 4, the streamer has officially announced. It was also revealed Monday that production on the romance series’ upcoming run has officially begun. (See a new photo from the set below.)
In Julia Quinn’s book An Offer from a Gentleman, which the hit Netflix series will next tackle, the rakish Benedict fell for Sophie, the orphaned, illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Penwood forced to work for her intolerable stepmother.
According to Netflix’s official description: “The resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances — which will drastically change after she disguises herself to attend Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball and meets Benedict Bridgerton.” (Watch a brief teaser below.)
The show hinted at Sophie’s arrival in the Season 3 finale, when Eloise commented on their mother Violet’s masquerade ball. The second-born Bridgerton noted his RSVP for the event, telling his sister, “I will be there, hiding out about behind a mask, avoiding eligible ladies like the plague.” As many book fans know, Benedict first met Sophie at that ball.
Season 4 “turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict,” per the official synopsis. “Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
Although Benedict and Sophie’s romance occurred in the third installment of Quinn’s wildly popular book franchise, this spring’s Season 3 had skipped that romance to focus on Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Couglan). The latter’s friends-to-lovers arc, which wrapped Part 2 on June 13, resulted in a marriage and a male heir.

What exactly was the point of making him bisexual if they weren’t going to do anything with it? Should have just left him straight instead of trying to queerbait an LGBT audience into watching. Just follow the books and stop trying to bait the audience.

It’s a Regency era drama: Benedict was bound to marry a girl. Anything else it’s like a phase in his life that never happened and held no consequences.
Shonda Rhimes is very weird when it comes to mlm relationships, she does really write them when she does, she de-sexualizes them, whether through casting, or roles they Play.

And I mean the shows and Grey’s seasons SHE is personally in charge of.
It was established in the first season (and reinforced in Queen Charlotte) that homosexual activity was illegal. So of course the show wasn’t going to do anything with it. But the show needs to find non-book story lines for those characters who aren’t the main focus in each season. Books can get away with ignoring them. TV shows cannot.

I don’t know how I feel about Benedict getting a happily ever after. I almost feel like this girl deserves better than this dude who was super-into threesomes and whatnot last season.
So someone who enjoys their time as a single man doesn’t deserve a happy ever after? This seems like an odd thing to say about someone who did absolutely nothing wrong lol I didn’t realize it was so pearl clutching to enjoy sex before finding your person.
Then again, I would’ve loved it if Sophie did enjoy her sex life long before Benedict entered the picture, but double standards remain and Benedict is the one who’s supposed to “enjoy guilt free”.
Sophie was more of a plot device meant for Benedict to grant her legitimate status and for Violet to look tolerant while he was doing so. Let’s hope the show makes her more interesting than the books.
Most of the love interests so far have deserved better than the Bridgertons they got. (I love A,C and D, but let’s be honest – they’re hardly perfect)
Each season is all about convincing us to root for the happiness of the central couple. So we have to wait and see what sort of change it inspires in Benedict.

I love Bridgerton, and they are usually great at casting. This past season had a few… not great choices. And this one confuses me a little, only because she wasn’t good on Halo. She had basically one expression the entire time.
I really couldn’t stand her in Halo – I sure hope it was the writing and not her acting because I’ve been waiting for Benedict’s story.
The failings of Halo were at a much more fundamental level than the cast – nobody could have made that material look good. I’d let her come into this with a blank slate.
I actually enjoyed Halo – with the exception of her part of the story.
