The Destroyer was a small aquatic repulsorcraft employed by the Galactic Empire, used chiefly to approach and destroy enemy vessels and shore emplacements.

The destroyer's unique clamshell-shaped frame supported powerful short-range pummels.
This vessel carried more armor than other ship classes to allow it to close to short range. These vessels were most commonly used against other ships as they could breach the hulls of even the largest cruisers rapidly.
A heavier version of the destroyer was also used by the Galactic Empire.
Destroyers under the command of Darth Vader were used during the Reytha campaign in 0 ABY.
Behind the scenes[]
Destroyers appear in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and its 2002 expansion pack Clone Campaigns. They may be built during the Galactic Empire campaign or in multiplayer. Interestingly, concept art of the Imperial Destroyer seen in the databank shows a cannon instead of the pummel featured in game, possibly indicating that destroyer type craft were initially ranged units earlier in development.
