‘Sooner rather than later’ – Sky journalist makes prediction on Camarda first team call

Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano is convinced that Francesco Camarda will end up in the first team squad permanently ‘sooner rather than later’, such is the rate of his development.

Camarda’s rise continues at a staggering rate after he made his debut for Milan at the age of just 15, becoming the youngest ever Serie A player in the process.

He scored his first senior goals on Saturday night as Milan Futuro beat Novara in the Coppa Italia Lega Pro, and there have been suggestions he could soon make the jump to the first team fully after being away in preseason.

There have been some suggestions that Camarda should start the game on Saturday against Parma at the Tardini after Alvaro Morata sustained a muscle injury that will keep him out until at least after the international break.

Sky’s Peppe Di Stefano did a piece from Casa Milan and he poured cold water on the hypothesis of Camarda starting against Parma, though he did suggest that in the short term he might well be considered.

“Let’s stick to the news of the day, because today Francesco Camarda trained with Milan Futuro: it doesn’t mean that he will remain training with them and won’t be called up. However, a few days after the match he trained with Bonera,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).

“We’ll see if there will be room for him in this match, which will be complicated. I’m going with logic, but it’s pure logic of mine, no indications from the pitch: for me we’ll see Jovic from the start again and in the second half Okafor will come on.

“If nothing else, Okafor, a bit like Jovic, is a player who makes the difference especially in the second half. This is my idea, then maybe Fonseca in the next few days will think about a different Milan.

“There are many solutions: absurdly, just a pour parler, if you want you can put Leao as first striker with the insertion of Saelemaekers, Pulisic or Chukwueze… You have the wingers and you can allow yourself to rotate. If you want to play with the first strikers, however, you have Jovic and Okafor.

“And there is the Camarda suggestion, who scored two goals in his second professional match in Serie C, making Milan Futuro win in Novara  He also got an assist in Lecco.

“In my opinion he has also grown physically by 7-8 kg compared to his debut a few months ago. I am convinced that sooner or later, and for me sooner rather than later, we will also see him in the first team.”
