kevin c Documentary about the importance of 35mm films and the revival theatres that still exist in many major cities that make a living out of screening them. Focuses on the New Beverly theatre in Hollywood that has a rich history in itself. Interviews with staff and some of its famous patrons including Kevin Smith, Rian Johnson, Clu Gulager, Joe Dante and many more. Great documentary. Most of its appeal is seeing a group of people that are enthusiastic about 35mm film. They made a really good point that movies are not preserved like art is. The Mona Lisa is guarded in a museum and original prints of movies are destroyed since they are expensive to store. Just like vinyl records have made a come back I hope these types of theaters do too. This doc is one easy watch, as local celebs (Seth Green, David Lynch, Edgar Wright ... the list is long) take turns with glowing cameos, espousing the glory of 35 mm film. The cool retro feel of the Beverly is the perfect stage for hip film lovers to gush fondly over classic double bills, and surprise Q and A sessions with big wig Hollywood types.
