Her uncle Henri, a trader who smuggles whiskey to the Indians, is pursued by brothers Pierre and Jean Dubois, suppliers of Henri's whiskey, who want to marry Julie even though she is revolted by them. After Pierre beats Jean in a fight over Julie, she flees to the cave in the Haunted Rock from which superstition keeps men away. American engineer Tom King, leading a party of surveyors, finds Julie sleeping near the cave and they fall in love. Meanwhile, Pierre informs revenue officers on Jean, who is arrested. When he escapes and learns of Julie's affection for Tom, Jean follows him, but mistakenly kills Pierre, also pursuing Tom. Although Tom is wounded, he struggles with Jean atop a cliff, until he pushes Jean to his death. Tom and Julie marry and prepare to return to civilization. Written by AFI See less
