Kristin Cavallari Is Naming Her Daughter After a Dog (No, Really!)

Kristin Cavallari, who’s expecting her third child with husband Jay Cutler, says the couple already have a name picked out for their daughter — and it comes from an interesting source.

“We picked out this baby girl’s name when I was pregnant with our first,” the star tells Cricket’s Circle. “I met a woman and her dog, and I loved her dog’s name. Funny enough, it was the name she had picked out if she had a girl, but she had boys, so she used it for her dog instead.”

Cavallari and Cutler, who share two sons, Jaxon Wyatt, 16 months, and Camden Jack, 3, are now planning to use the moniker when they welcome their little girl in November.

The 28 year old — whose new book, Balancing in Heels, will be released in March — covered a variety of topics in the wide-ranging interview, including how she tries to find an ever-elusive work-life balance.

“Once I had kids, I made a conscious decision to make them my top priority,” Cavallari explains. “I want to take them to school, to mommy-and-me music class — I want to be there.”

She continues, “This means I can’t take on as many business endeavors, which has actually helped my career. I have to love and wholeheartedly believe in anything I do, which is a really great feeling.”

The former Laguna Beach star and Cutler, who is a quarterback for the Chicago Bears, “swap roles” depending on his football schedule. Cavallari stays home during the NFL season, and then, when Cutler’s off, he cares for their children while she travels and focuses on work.

“It’s just worked out this way timing-wise, which has been amazing,” she explains.

Cavallari also reveals the best mommy advice she’s ever gotten was from her own mother: Kids do as you do, not as you say.

“I really try hard to set a good example and practice what I preach, which can be hard,” she shares. “She also swears that I’m going to miss the hard days, so I try to find the comedy in tough moments. My trick for keeping your cool is to act like someone’s watching you and evaluating you as a parent.”

Although challenging, those “hard days” are also sometimes unforgettable. Cavallari admits one of her greatest mom fails came during a flight with her firstborn — without any extra help or a spare set of clothes.

“Camden had always been a rockstar flier. I was flying with him solo to L.A. one time while he was teething, and he projectile vomited everywhere,” she recalls.

“Of course, I didn’t have a change of clothes for him or me, so we sat in our puke clothes for HOURS. It was awful.”
