Holograph, signed
Samuel May, Jr., begins this letter by inviting Miss Weston to attend a meeting of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society, where the "main business relates to an account of Daniel Foster's, concerning which there is a difference of opinion between himself & me, ..." Samuel May mentions the Estlins' tour of Ireland. Russell Carpenter is to marry Mary Browne of Bridgewater. Samuel May attacks Frederick Douglass. He speaks of Sallie Holley's nervousness on the lecture platform. He saw S. H. Gay in New York; he was careworn and in low spirits. Samuel May heard Henry Ward Beecher preach
