Brat summer burnout? The Vitamin Shoppe has you covered

“Brat Summer” may be over, but you know what they say — the body keeps score.

Most Gen Zers and millennials are already well-acquainted with the antics of the past few months. June 7 marked the conception of a major cultural trend as British pop icon Charli XCX released her billboard-topping hit album titled “Brat.”

The energetic tracks woke up masses (mostly young women), who then used Charli’s lusty lyrics and high-octane club beats to develop an entire social media aesthetic around going out, partying, and being a bit of a hot mess. They dubbed it “Brat Summer”.

The icon, herself, turned to TikTok to sum up what it means to be a brat: “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes. Who feels herself but maybe also has a breakdown…”

Those who experienced a wave of brattiness between June and August may now be feeling the comedown. Possible side effects could include headaches, mood changes, disrupted sleep patterns, and such.

The Vitamin Shoppe is among the first stores to curate a Brat Summer recovery kit.

It’s only natural for some to start searching for vitamins, supplements, and other solutions to help get their bodies back on track.

“The BRAT summer recovery kit is perfect for those who have embraced a fun, chaotic summer and are looking to revamp for more in the imminent Fall months,” shared The Vitamin Shoppe’s Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist, Brittany Michels.

The store offers products that help reduce stress, improve metabolism, and support the immune system. Michels has shared some specific recommendations that could help recovering Brat Summer participants bounce back for a healthier (and, maybe more demure) Fall.

That list starts with the essentials — like high-potency vitamins.

“B vitamins are essential for energy production and become depleted with the physical and mental stresses that come with cruising through a vibrant summer in overdrive,” she suggested.

According to the expert, electrolytes like Liquid I.V. are another useful and effective addition to kickstart energy and boost hydration levels.

“Sweat, alcohol, and caffeine all impact hydration so the electrolyte drink mix is a no-brainer for repleting essential levels,” she explained.

Addressing liver health should also be a primary focus, especially for those who may have drunk more than they can remember. Michels suggests an au-naturel solution for that.

“The liver has over 500 functions, including filtering and detoxing the body,” she pointed out.”Milk thistle may help rejuvenate the liver so that it can continue optimally performing.”

Michels final pick is already a favorite for many — CELCIUS drinks.

“By the end of an indulgent summer, many would benefit from a yummy, metabolic-boosting drink,” she added before recommending CELSIUS’ proprietary MetaPlus formula,.

In true neon green fashion, meet the CELSIUS’ proprietary MetaPlus formula. This is not your ordinary energy drink. The blend includes green tea with EGCG, ginger, and guarana seeds; a combination that is said to switch on thermogenesis, which is the process that boosts the body’s metabolism and burns fat. If you’re not sold on the Lemon Lime flavor, you can choose from dozens of others like Cherry Cola and Mango Passionfruit.

Feeling a touch of #hangxiety? Maybe the end of summer blues? Or, perhaps the stress is creeping up with school back in session? As Michels has pointed out, finding the right source of Vitamin B is especially important come fall. Vthrive offers a high-potency, bioactive B-complex that promotes energy production and nutrient metabolism. Plus, it’s said to provide some stress and nervous system support. The formula is delivered in a “body ready” coenzyme form which makes it much easier to process.

If there is one thing this summer has taught us, it’s that brat girls need their electrolytes, and Liquid I.V. is one of the easiest and tastiest ways to get your daily dose. These simple packets deliver three times the electrolytes of traditional sports drinks on top of vitamins B3, B5, B6, b12, and Vitamin C. Choose from one of the dozens of flavors, throw them in your purse, mix them with some water, and you’re good to go.

If your liver has taken a bit of a beating this summer, don’t fret. For a more au-naturel remedy, Michels has recommended Milk Thistle. Believe it or not — it’s completely dairy-free — making it ideal for those who may be lactose-sensitive. Thistle comes from a pretty purple plant that is filled with an antioxidant called silymarin, which is known to support the liver and protect it from free radical damage.
