For other uses, see Tal.

Tal was a Federation citizen, a Trill woman in Starfleet service at some point between the 25th century, after Captain Tal, and the 3180s decade, before Admiral Senna Tal. She was joined with the Tal symbiont and reached the rank of lieutenant. Following her death, Tal was transferred to another host. (DSC episode: "Forget Me Not")

By the roster of names listed in the episode, this was either Jovar Tal, Madela Tal or Cara Tal.

Biography[]

In the year 3189, Lieutenant Tal was among the hosts meeting Adira Tal and Commander Michael Burnham in a mindscape induced at the Caves of Mak'ala during a communion between Adira, Burnham and the Trill symbionts swimming in the ponds. Adira was welcomed into the circle of hosts, the first Human to carry Tal. The communion established a full connection between the Tal symbiont and Adira, allowing them to access the memories of their previous hosts.

In the mindscape, Lieutenant Tal - whose first name was either Jovar, Madela or Cara[1] - appeared in a Starfleet uniform close to the current style[2], with a thin orange stripe denoting the operations division on an otherwise grey uniform. The collar insignia consisted of two downward-pointing rhombi, and a tricom badge[2] with lieutenant chevrons.[1] (DSC episodes: "Forget Me Not", "Die Trying")

At the time, Lieutenant Tal, Captain Tal and Admiral Senna Tal were the only Tal hosts appearing in uniform.

Following the experience, Adira was able to recall the name of every previous host to Guardian Xi, which satisfied Leader Pav and the rest of the Trill leadership that a Human-symbiont union was desirable. (DSC episode: "Forget Me Not")
