Neon (symbol Ne) is a chemical element, a naturally-occuring gas, which is tasteless, colorless, and odorless.

History and specifics[]

While it is the fourth most-abundant element located in the universe, it is extremely rare on Earth. Neon has atomic number 10 on the periodic table and an atomic mass of 20.183. This gas was discovered by Humans for the first time on Earth's European continent in the year 1898. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

The atmosphere of Taurus II contained trace elemements of neon. (TOS episode: "The Galileo Seven")
