The Allied Fleet Service (AFS) was a 25th century cross-naval organization[1], a military branch for defense and exploration in Khitomer Alliance since the late 2400s decade. (STO website: Awakening: The Khitomer Alliance Launches New Joint Service)

History and specifics[]

Following the truce with the Iconian Empire, and the establishment of the Hur'q Neutral Zone in the Gamma Quadrant in 2410, the four major powers of the Alpha Quadrant Alliance - Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Republic, and the Dominion - increased their level of cooperation.

The temporal warship was the first joint starship classification conceived by the Allied Cooperative Starship Development Board (ACSDB), and represented the first four-way cooperation between Starfleet's Advanced Starship Design Bureau, the Klingon Defense Force's Warship Advancement Council (WAC),[2] the Romulan Republic Navy, and the Dominion's Jem'Hadar Vanguard Fleet, with the latter joining the triumvirate of powers that had been cooperating previously. A statement of this change and the temporal warships' development was released by Vice Admiral S. J. Hemphill, Presiding Officer of the ACSDB. (STO website: Rise of Discoverys: The Allied Cooperative Starship Development Board, The Temporal Warship Bundle!)

On stardate 87971.0, the AQA officially published its new name Khitomer Alliance, and announced the formation of a new combined fleet. The statement was given jointly by the Secretary for the Federation Starfleet, the Grand Dahar Master of the Klingon Imperial Fleet, and the Admiral of the Romulan Republic Fleet. The Admiralty Board for the AFS was staffed with high-level representation from the Allied member services. Initially, the AFS would only have three flag officers, one from each presiding member. This number was expected to grow, and the AFS was open already for members of the Jem'Hadar Vanguard Fleet. (STO website: Season 18: Awakening: The Khitomer Alliance Launches New Joint Service)

KA ship and uniform.

At the end of the year, the launch of the AFS Khitomer (CSN-01) was the first newly-built AFS ship to be launched. The Khitomer Alliance battlecruiser design represented a fusion of Starfleet and Klingon aesthetics. On each ship's hull, its name would be painted in Federation Standard and Klingonese. (STO website: Season 18: Awakening: Command the First Federation/Klingon Ship!)

At sometime after stardate 84999.22, in 2411, the Khitomer Alliance uniform, used aboard the AFS Khitomer, was introduced for Starfleet, the KDF, RRF, and Vanguard Fleet. It's rank system followed that of Federation Starfleet. (STO website: Legacy: Join the Khitomer Alliance!)

Kagran was made commanding officer of the Khitomer. The captain and his officers Commander Rinna Khev and Lieutenant Commander Kyla VanZyl attended a meeting of the Klingon High Council where Matriarch J'Ula of House Mo'Kai was present. Kagran and his officers wore the new Alliance uniform. The conference quickly descended into a firefight. This marked the opening of the Klingon Civil War of 2411. Discord at Khitomer.

During a prison break organised by Aakar of House Mo'Kai, the Khitomer and the IKS Rotarran under General Martok organized the defense of Rura Penthe's installations, and aided a five-ship task force in recapturing the escaping prisoners. Following protracted battles involving dilithium haulers and other vessels, Aakar was forced to retreat. (STO - House Divided mission: "Best Served Cold")

Alliance HQ and Khitomer City were destroyed by House Mo'Kai's mycelial superweapon after Aakar brought it aboard J'mpok's ship. Alliance Chairman Ksenneta had sheltered J'Ula in the headquarters in a bid to make peace. The chancellor blamed the attack on J'Ula. Kagran, and the Khitomer, sided with J'mpok during a battle at Khitomer II with House Mo'Kai and Matriarch J'Ula's new allies. The Khitomer was disabled in the fight, and left adrift in the planet's orbit. (STO - House Divided mission: "The Khitomer Discord")

Temer class raider

AFS Temer (CSN-02).

Soon after the Shattering of the Klingon Empire[3], the Alliance Fleet Service launched their second new starship class, the Temer-class raider. Where the Khitomer combined Starfleet and KDF technology, the AFS Temer (CSN-02) was blend between Romulan Republic and Klingon design. (STO website: House Shattered: 11th Anniversary Event!)
