John Alex Tampoya (born 22 September 1966; age 58) is an actor who was a regular background performer on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager, appearing most notably as Ensign Kashimuro Nozawa on the latter one. He also had a background role in Star Trek Generations and worked as stand-in on Star Trek: First Contact. On Voyager, Tampoya also worked as first unit stand-in and photo double for "Harry Kim" actor Garrett Wang on the first four seasons. As a background actor he received no on-screen credit for his appearances.
A costume from the episode "Emanations", worn by Tampoya and Wang, was sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1](X) Tampoya filmed his scenes for "Silicon Avatar" on Wednesday 7 August 1991 on location at the Golden Oak Ranch and on Thursday 15 August 1991 at Paramount Stage 16. He was scheduled to appear in corridor scenes in the episode "Hero Worship" and on the bridge in "Imaginary Friend" but was not part of the final episodes. He had his stand-in interview for Voyager along with two other actors on Thursday 11 August 1994.
Outside Star Trek, Tampoya appeared as a lab technician in The Human Factor pilot episode (1992, with Gene LeBell and Vyto Ruginis) and performed stunts in the drama Leather Jackets (1992, with Phil Chong, Jeff Imada, Al Goto, Michael Champion, Bill Ryusaki, Tony Cecere, Sandy Free, Peter Lai, and George Wilbur).
