The Solo Singer

She stood, singing with backing music, on a street many hundreds of years old. A Cathedral in the backdrop.

Many hundreds of people walked up the street past the singer; dozens gathered to watch a street performer do tricks. A clap was heard in the background for the street performer.

The solo singer stood and sang. Eloquent and brilliant. My eyes were focused not on the crowd watching the tricks further up the road. I was captivated by her voice. People placed change into the case lying on the street.

Riptide echoed down the Royal Mile, one of my favourite songs to hear performed acoustically. I felt joyful and appreciative of everyone who goes out to sing and play music on the streets; these people make the world a brighter place.
