Peer-education is the core of our Campus Organizing Program. It’s On Us currently offers 18 core peer-education programs, designed to equip campus chapters to deploy sexual violence prevention education programs in their own communities. The programs are intended to be customized by our Campus Organizers to reflect the unique environment of their campus. The content of the programs can also be used to inform non-traditional peer-education or awareness events, such as a “Cookies for Consent” event or a “Red Flag” movie screening that can educate students on harmful or abusive relationship behaviors.
As part of their minimum requirements, chapters are required to:
- Have one or more members be trained in at least two of the 18 core programs each semester, either virtually or in-person at a Regional Summit.
- Hold at least two peer-education events per semester.
- Complete a monthly report-back form on their chapter activities, including any peer-education events they host based on the workshops below.
It’s On Us has divided our core prevention program suites into Tiers to support students in growing their knowledge and skills as peer-educators in ways that are most supportive of their growth. Some of our program suites are specifically designed to support peer-education efforts with students who have been historically excluded from mainstream prevention education programs. It’s On Us is continuously working to add new programs that fill gaps in existing prevention efforts.

Peer Education Programs
It’s On Us offers four training “Tiers” to support students at the various stages of their peer-educator and organizing journey. If you are wondering what Tier is best for you, here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from each set of workshops:
Tier I
If you are starting a new It’s On Us Chapter or are a brand new member of an existing chapter, this is the tier for you. Tier I covers the fundamentals of campus sexual assault prevention strategies, and will ensure you have a solid baseline of knowledge to begin your peer-educator journey. Those who complete all four trainings in this Tier will receive a “Prevention Educator” certificate.
Tier II
If you’ve completed your Tier I trainings and want to expand your understanding of issues that intersect with campus sexual assault prevention, such as how alcohol affects perpetration or how to effectively engage men, then Tier II is right for you! Those who complete two of the four trainings in this tier will receive a “Prevention Strategist” certificate.
Tier III
The workshops in Tier III are designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of advanced or senior peer-educators. Students participating in Tier III workshops should, at minimum, have completed all of the fundamental workshops in Tier I, and at least some of the workshops in Tier II. Those who complete at least two of the four trainings in this tier will receive a “Prevention Expert” Certificate.
Tier IV
Abuse is Not Love
Want to grow your knowledge and skills to effectively educate your peers on dating violence/intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention? Our Abuse is Not Love programs are for you! Built with the support of YSL Beauty, these programs dive into the nine signs of an abusive relationship, IPV prevention, and how to educate your peers on the importance of building healthy relationships. Additionally, Tier IV offers programs with a specific focus on dating violence prevention in LGBT relationships. Those who are trained in these workshops will receive an “Abuse is Not Love“ Certificate.
