Joan Didion
“Making judgments on films is in many ways so peculiarly vaporous an occupation that the only question is why, beyond the obvious opportunities for a few lectures fees and a little careerism at a dispiritingly self-limiting level, anyone does it in the first place.”
Joan Didion, The White Album

Nancy On that note, I must suggest that you see the amazing and delightful "Land Ho!" It may be the best film I've seen all year. I still miss Roger Ebert's reviews, even when I disagreed with him. But, this review nails it very well.

I watched it this past weekend on cable TV. I believe it was on the Starz channel. Filmed entirely in Iceland, it's also a feast for the eyes.

P.S. As a lifetime movie buff, I read many movie reviews but, they've never deterred me from going to a film. ;) That's a great quote by Joan Didion. Thank you.
