Conor Kostick was a designer for the world's first live action role-playing game, Treasure Trap. He is the author of many historical, political and cultural articles. Epic was his first novel and was awarded a place on the International Board on Books for Young People Honours list for 2006 and on the Booklist Best Fantasy Books for Youth list for 2007. Set in a fantasy MMORPG, Epic can be considered an early example of LitRPG. The sequel to Epic, titled Saga, was first published in Ireland in 2006. Conor received a Special Merit Award from the Reading Association of Ireland in 2009.

In 2018, Conor joined Level Up as commissioning editor to publish LitRPG books.

One of them, the Siege of Mettleburg, takes place in the Epic sim. https://www.amazon.com/Eternal-Voyage... My current work-in-progress (which I'm half way through) is set in Roman times, except magic works and there are dragons. The Romans hate magic but they need a sorcerer to help fight the Si. The young Welsh lad they recruit is very insubordinate and I'm enjoying the boot camp scenes where they are trying to train him into the Roman army and he doesn't care for their discipline.(less)

Sir, you may not see this, but I just want to say how much I enjoyed the Epic series. I was browsing the library when it caught my eye. Besides the Roman book, what else can I expect involving a virtual world?

Thanks for the positive feedback, much appreciated. The Roman setting is actually on hold right now as I finish a book called 'The Dragon's Revenge'. It is set on Earth, when Epic 2 is being launched. An AI dragon has gone rogue and has conquered half the game. The only person to have successfully led a raid to kill the dragon is Tyro (real name Tom) a teenager from a rough part of Dublin. The company hire him to build a team and try to take the dragon out.
