I guess I'm the first to check in :) Can't wait to start this, now that all my other team challenges are over I need something new to focus on.

I've played on teams with a few of you already and to those I haven't I can't wait to get to know everyone, feel free to friend me. Let the Game begin!

message 8: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I can't remember off hand who all said they'd be willing to be captain. I can for sure but I really really need a co-captain :)

I've been adding fairy tale retellings to my TBR this last week. Now that the team names are official I'll start looking for the other bonuses.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I just checked and out of all of us Belinda said yes to being captain and Pepper said maybe, everyone else was a no.

message 10: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Cool well maybe one of them will be game :0

I made us a spreadsheet and linked it in post 3. I'll be updating links throughout the week on all the teams threads.

I've been scribbling down notes and books for the last 2 hours seeing what I have that fits this challenge, surprisingly I have quite a few Retellings in my TBR and on my Kindle so I don't think I'll have any trouble in that department :)

message 16: by PepperP0t (new)

message 17: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katkattrinn) | 760 comments Hi Pepper! :D

message 18: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t I'm not a huge fan of fairy tales or retelling but we'll do great.

Jenne you're looking for other bonuses how about a bonus for figuring the rules out?

message 19: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Bwhahaha it's not that bad.
You can still shoot for author initial and team name bonus.

message 20: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t Your family must miss ou terribly Jenne. Putting this together has taken a lot of time and energy. Thank you

That being said, am I the only one that doesn't understand these 10 tasks in 2 weeks?

Are we looking for themes of our team name? (Like Red and the big bad wolf gives me shifters easy.

message 21: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t Katherine wrote: "Hi Pepper! :D"

Hi Katherine, I went over to read the FAQ's to see if my question was there. luckily I'm in the office by myself today.

message 22: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Pat I'll put up an example later :)

message 23: by Belinda (new)

Belinda | 461 comments I'm awake! Just getting ready for work. I'll check later today. I can help with co captain but I'm still wrapping my head around this game...

message 24: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 10, 2015 01:24PM) (new)

OK now I'm on the hunt for the best books to read for our first task and mini challenge. I have a few in mind that might give us high points :)

message 25: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katkattrinn) | 760 comments When is 400 pages the you have 35 or 30 points?

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

My God! I didn't think it would that hard to find a book with some sort of way to tell time on the cover.

Jenne can we use the moon as a way to tell time? I know sailors back in the day used to navigate and tell time by the position of the moon :)

message 27: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katkattrinn) | 760 comments And stars. don't forget stars.

Katherine wrote: "And stars. don't forget stars."

message 29: by Jenne (new)

message 30: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 10, 2015 01:56PM) (new)

Great! that helps a lot for some reason most of my book covers are a night, but I think I have found my first book!

Big Bad Beast (Pride, #6) by Shelly Laurenston , I think that's a sun behind him, what do you guys think?

message 31: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I think it is.

message 32: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Katherine wrote: "When is 400 pages the you have 35 or 30 points?"

I'm gonna go edit that.

Should be 150-200 = 20 points
201-300 = 25 points
301-400 = 30 points
401-500 = 35 points
501+ = 40

Joeera | 395 comments I'am excited can't waite to get starte. I would just like to know what a retelling of Red Riding Hood woulkd be

message 39: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments It doesn't have to just be a red riding hood retelling, any fairy tale retelling will score us bonus points :)
I'm on the app right now, I'll get some listopia and shelf links later tonight.

message 40: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Jenne, I need a break from homework and mothers in law so I found these.

message 43: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1862 comments Hi everyone! I've been on teams with a few of you before :) I'll try to catch up tomorrow with all the chatting. I've had a looooong day and I'm pooped.

message 44: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t Help teamies

I've looked through many books and didn't read this evening so I'm grumpy.

I haven't decided on this but I am still figuring out the rules.
Lady Thief (Scarlet, #2) by A.C. Gaughen

this is a retelling 50 points but it's robin hood
Team Name wearing a hood would that count

either way I see myself coming up around 100 points this week

message 45: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Ok ms Pat that book would get you 50 for being a retelling, page points, mini challenge points, fits the task and not sure about author initials since I'm on my phone and can't bounce between screens.

This challenge is unique to other styles I've hosted around here. You literally will use every book you read during the challenge if it's at least 150 pages.

That's why we've got teams put together based on amount of books read a week :)

message 46: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Ditto on the no reading! I've literally read like 10 pages today....
Go get some reading done so you're not grumpy :)

message 47: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Here's an example of the tracking, scoring, 10 tasks etc in this post

Sometimes "seeing it" is better than me trying to explain it lol.

message 48: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments B when you get a minute shoot me your email addy and I'll add you as an editor to the spreadsheet if you want :)

message 49: by Belinda (last edited Jun 11, 2015 12:17AM) (new)

Belinda | 461 comments I have a couple of good books with moons on the cover: Low Midnight (Kitty Norville, #13) by Carrie Vaughn Moonshifted (Edie Spence, #2) by Cassie Alexander but I can't combine them with anything other than page value
I also have A Drop of Red (Vampire Babylon, #4) by Chris Marie Green which might work for our red riding hood name?
Otherwise I can scour covers for something red (I have Demon Possessed (Megan Chase, #3) by Stacia Kane with a red heart necklace, but it's small...) or I can use this cover Kiss the Dead (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #21) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Or can hunt down an author letter combo?

Which option/s have we covered so far? I can't keep up!!! ^_^

message 50: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 963 comments Hi all. Just checking in on the Kindle so navigating is harder than on my laptop. I really should just ignore the GR app and use the browser instead. It would make my life easier. When I get home tomorrow night I'll start planning but off the top of my head I know I have Scarlet from The Lunar Chronicles, several Eloisa James fairy tale enhances, and Kate SeRine's Transplanted Tales in my TBR.
