After a long hiatus from science fiction, I finally delved into 'The Three-Body Problem,' especially after being intrigued by its Netflix adaptation. This book had been on my radar for years, but it wasn't until now that I made the effort to read it, and I'm glad I did.

As my first foray into non-American/European science fiction, I found 'The Three-Body Problem' to be a refreshing change. While the core story may seem familiar to fans of the genre, the narrative's infusion with elements of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and online gaming added an intriguing layer of depth and complexity.

However, towards the end of Book 1, where hard-core scientific concepts are explained through dialogues, I found myself struggling to keep up. Despite this, the book remains a worthwhile read, thanks to its engaging storytelling and well-executed English translation.

Overall, 'The Three-Body Problem' offers a unique and compelling take on science fiction, blending cultural, historical and a bit of philosophical elements with good and creative plot. While some parts may be challenging to grasp, the book's merits far outweigh its complexities, making it a rewarding read for fans of the genre.
