It may be due to the fact that I'm late to the game and do not know anything about fairies, but I found this world of fey to be very intriguing and fascinating.
The writing was fantastic as well, with the lore so naturally interweaved into the narrative. Jude's backstory was tragic and explained a lot of her somewhat twisted character, while the two "love interests" she had were unexpectedly compelling. I find myself simultaneously hating and loving Locke and Cardan with all of my heart, and the way the relationships progressed (or un-progressed...) was so, so fun to read.
My favorite character was for sure Vivi and I would love to read more about her love story with Heather. I love everything about her, and Jude being the main character instead was kind of a downer for me to be honest. I really wish Vivi was the main character, but whatever, I shall cast that wlw bias of mine aside for now, since Jude was at the center of the entire plot after all.
This brings me to the biggest flaw of the book, which I believe is Jude and her strange, twisted character. I do not relate to her at all, and thus cannot understand the actions she did and thoughts she had throughout the book. Nevertheless, this is still a great book that I would highly recommend to people....more

However, once you get past about 50% of the book, the two leads really got to know each other and are on the verge of chancing upon each other, the pacing gets so much better. By the end of the book, I am truly rooting for the two leads. As a huge bonus, there's an awesome queer side couple who stole my heart as well. Overall, the first half of the book is a two-stars, while the second half of the book is a five stars, and thus, this is a solid four-stars book. I am excited to continue to the sequel soon!...more

Eve tells her story through an interview with someone who genuinely wants to help her out. It starts off futuristic and cool, with us learning about her “life” as a robot, but the twist (with Emery also being a robot, and David being a delusional psycho who can’t get over his family’s death) really makes everything a lot more interesting. It’s such a refreshing read that emphasises on what it means to be a family; I really love it....more

The main character is... very interesting, for lack of a better term. She has a very grey moral compass, a bit of an annoying ego, and is as dumb as she is smart at times. I really enjoyed reading the story from her skewed perspective—don't you just love it when you want to punch the main character at times?
The story is very exciting. It starts off slow and then snowballs very quickly. There were a couple of times I was up on the edge of my seat listening to the chapters. I also loved the way the main character's past is revealed in conjunction with the story progression; I thought that done very well. The plot twists are a little predictable but still very effective in my opinion.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable book. I only did not rate it higher because this is not my preferred genre to read....more
