Planning a camping trip with their ponies, Anna, Pam, and Lulu enjoy making all the preparations and set off for a wonderful time, but their adventure is bigger than they expected when a little girl disappears. Original.
When I was growing up I never thought of being an author. I was a terrible speller and didn't want to write any more than I had to. I wanted to be a tap dancer when I grew up. After a few years of teaching junior high and high school, I wrote my first novel. It was a surprise to discover that I liked making up stories and writing them down. I liked it so much that eventually I stopped teaching and became a fulltime writer.
Besides novels for children and young adults, I've also told stories by writing scripts for television and the movies.
I live on the top floor of a sixteen-story building near the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. From my apartment I have a view of Manhattan that includes the Empire State Building and the Plaza Hotel. In my free time I draw, paint, and read. I still love to dance.
Some people think that a writer's life is lonely. But when I'm writing a story I don't feel lonely because I am actively involved with lots of interesting people – the characters in my books. I love knowing that some day readers will get to know these characters, too. If you are one of my readers I hope you have as much enjoyment in reading my stories as I have writing them.
Another one in my reread of Pony Pals! Book five, Pony to the Rescue is an Anna focused book and deals with the difficulties of someone else (in this case a little girl called Rosalie) wanting to spend time with your pony. Having dealt with this myself I can say this is a very relatable book.
My oldest granddaughter loves horses and everything to do with them. She is now started reading chapter books so this series is perfect for her. I think this one we bought at her school on grandparents day.
The Pony Pal girls start off by giving pony rides at the local fair with their three horses. Anna rides her pony called Acorn, while Pam and Lulu lead their horses giving pony rides too. A young girl called Rosalie takes many rides on Acorn and discovers that Anna lives near to her house and Acorn lives in the back yard. Rosalie doesn't always listen to Anna when she explains the importance of being careful around horses. The three Pony Pal girls start planning a camping holiday, that's when Rosalie starts to become a real problem.
I think this is a really good series for pony loving children to enjoy.
I really liked the pacing. It's a really short story but still a lot happens. It's hard to believe adults would allow 10 y/o to camp alone at night though. Sorry to say that, but y do keep stupid little girls running after things and ppl? And I did not like Rosie. The way she ignored Anna completely and treated Rico as a toy she just can't get enough of grinded my gears until the very last page. In her child-egoism she is only focused on things she wants and how to get them. And I don't like it thatsz no one in the book taught her a thing or two about bounderies. And Anna even ended up having to share Rico with her! The writting was great but I just didn't like that story.

About a half hour read. As I’ve said before, these novels are written incredibly well and the art is quite good. I’ll be giving this to my little sister to read.
It is a chapter book and book 5 of the "Pony Pals" series. My now grown daughter LOVED these books as a child (she begin to read them when she was about 8) and read all of the ones in the series. I found her copy of many of them and decided to try and read them to see what they were like. You can read these as stand alone books; but the reader would understand and relate to the girls better if you read them in order. If you have to miss one 'here and there' it's not big deal; you won't be lost but just get the full effect better in order.
It's a nice storybook of a beginning of friendship for three girls (all 5th graders) and the bond they form with each other and each of their ponies. In this story a younger girl comes and becomes obsessed with one of the Pony pals and her pony. But in reality she just wanted to have a friend and something to do since her 13 year old brother was suppose to be sitting with her and he didn't watch her like he should. The Pony Pals are going on a camping trip but the little girl is disappointed because they won't be at the house for her to come 'visit' she wanders off and gets lost. The whole community is looking for her; but the Pony Pals have an idea where she could be. They put their heads together and know how important it is to do what they need to do. This story helps the reader (young girls) understand the importance of listening to adults and knowing about things in their surroundings. And when it's time to play and time to be serious.
As a mother reading these books I really appreciate the way Ms Betancourt has written about the girls putting their heads together and trying to work out problems together and coming up with solutions themselves. As the young adults they are becoming it gives the girls in the story the opportunity to think things through. Which helps readers know they could do the same thing to try and find solutions as the young adults they will be in a few years. This is the fifth book I've read of this series and in each book the girls have tried to come up with solutions to problems and that is such a good thing to teach children.
I love horses and always wanted one when I was a young girl. I never got one but I love reading these books just for pure enjoyment. Plus another one to share with my granddaughter.
This book is good just like all the rest. I can understand why my nieces loved the books so much and so did my Grandson who has always loved horses. At one time we counted his toy horses, he had over 500. Why do they always make the books and the toy horses for the little girls or young girls and never include the boys? I had 3 boys and they were crazy about horses.
The Pony Pals band together to find a child lost in the deep woods. I totally understand Rosalie's obsession with the ponies and her desire to be like the 'big kids.' What I loved the most about this book was the way the girls really to try to be a friend to her, despite her pesky nature, and the fact that she's so much younger than them. A solid book, and enjoyable to read.
I ranked this higher than I normally would for a book of this caliber because I really liked the character building in it. there are a handful of challenging experiences and the girls take the high road. a little girl who is obsessed with ponies ends up getting lost and the pony pals help find her even though she has been a pest, her brother always bullies them, and her mother hates ponies.
It was good because the Pony Pals had to rescue a little girls named Rosalie. Rosalie is my great-great aunt's name, but we call her Auntie. My mom says I should name my little girl Rosalie when I grow up. We'll see.
Pony Pals was one of my favourite "horsey" series growing up. Jeanne Betancourt has a writing skill that makes the books easy to read and interesting. I read many of the series and I was enthralled with each new story.
A cute little book. I bought this book for the Cowboy's 8 year old daughter, S. I had to read it before I gave it to her to see if it was appropriate for her before hand. It was a good little book. There are many books in this series, so if she likes it maybe she can get more of them.
A pony finds a girl... kind of weird. I read when I was younger and thought is was good but it's not what i'd read now. The other Pony Pal books are much better
I will say the character of Rosalie was a little annoying, but with her age and her living situation, it makes sense why she would be so obsessed with ponies.
When I was younger, I loved horses! I read lots of these books and really enjoyed them. Of course, it's been a long time since I've read these, but I can assure you they are worth reading.
