Book Four

After an attack by the Coalition leaves THIRDS Team Leader Sloane Brodie critically injured, agent Dexter J. Daley swears to make Beck Hogan pay for what he’s done. But Dex’s plans for retribution are short-lived. With Ash still on leave with his own injuries, Sloane in the hospital, and Destructive Delta in the Coalition’s crosshairs, Lieutenant Sparks isn’t taking any chances. Dex’s team is pulled from the case, with the investigation handed to Team Leader Sebastian Hobbs. Dex refuses to stand by while another team goes after Hogan, and decides to put his old HPF detective skills to work to find Hogan before Theta Destructive, no matter the cost.

With a lengthy and painful recovery ahead of him, the last thing Sloane needs is his partner out scouring the city, especially when the lies—however well-intentioned—begin to spiral out of control. Sloane is all too familiar with the desire to retaliate, but some things are more important, like the man who’s pledged to stand beside him. As Dex starts down a dark path, it’s up to Sloane to show him what’s at stake, and finally put a name to what’s in his heart.

I honestly think most fans of Charlie Cochet's addictive THIRDS series will really like this one. Me? I enjoyed it but it wasn't groundbreaking. To be honest, and Dex and Sloane fans, don't hate me, but I'm ready for another couple to take center stage.

This book has more of what we've come to love in other books in this series. Action? Check! Sexy times? Check! Danger? Check! For those that want to see some progression in Dex and Sloane's relationship, you won't be disappointed. In fact, there was some advancement in ALL the relationships, including those of the side MCs (woohoo!!).

So what's my beef? Well, to start, Dex was TSTL though much of the story. He was like the bad heroine that keeps getting herself into dangerous situations. I wanted to SHAKE Dex or at least slap some sense into that tight ass of his (*purr*)!

I also think that this book just didn't cover enough new ground. Sure, there was a bad guy to stop and, sure, the relationships went from heavy to heavier, but it sort of felt like same old, same old. I love Dex and Sloane, but I found myself getting a little bored with the storyline and able to put the book down with no issues, which is never a great sign for me.

Again, I think most THIRDS fans will be thrilled with the latest chapter in the series, but I'm hungry for some fresh meat. Bring on Ash and Cael's story!!

This book? In a nutshell?

MMMMMMMMEhhhhhhh.

description

Yeah, that about sums it up.

I felt like this book - which focused mainly on Dex and Sloane, a-fuckin-gain - was super circuitous.

Full Definition of circuitous

1
: having a circular or winding course, a circuitous route.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Merriam-Webster.

description

Seriously though, to beat a dead horse - much like this book - I feel as though we are going around in circles with Dex and Sloane's relationship.

And don't even get me started on Dipshit Dex and some of the bonehead choices this idiot makes is this story.

There's "going Maverick..."
...and then there's just plain retarded.
And Dex definitely fell into the latter category here.

And holy shit, we get that Dex OMG loves 80's music, cheese doodles, and Star Wars.
And we appreciate it. #TeamTheForce
But we don't really need to hear about one or the other every other paragraph, do we?

The progress we make with Ash/Cael and Calvin/Hobbs was the most exciting part of the book for me. Although, after reading this one, I'm no sure how motivated I am to jump on their stories, which I assume are next.

Third re-read: 10.07.2021
Again, I just love the last scene. So good. Love seeing Dex and Sloane getting closer. Love the... ehmm.... feral parts ;)

Second re-read: 10.03.2020
Seriously, the last scene is just epic. Never fails to put a smile on my face. Love it. That being said, I'm still struggling with focusing so I skimmed the parts that didn't center around Dex and Sloane's scenes. I love how closer they have become.

Re-read: 10.06.2019
The last scene in the book is absolutely great. I love it. Makes me laugh. This series is good. In this book we get to see another side to Dex. We also get to see Dex and Ash grow ‘closer’ in a way, and we get to see Dex and Sloane hit another level of depth in their relationship. What makes this book not a four stars is that it's long and there's so much about the case that kinda makes it boring for me at time. I don't know why. But all I want is more Dex and Sloane (do they have a ship name? Delaone? Sloex?). On to the next re-read of the series. I'm skipping the books that doesn't centers Dex and Sloane.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Can Contain Spoilers*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

First read review:
The fourth book in the series still centers (will they center around them all the way? Please say yes?!) around the Defense Agent (used to be a homicide detective; the Human Police Force) Dexter ‘Dex’ ‘Rookie’ Justice Daley (33) and his Team Leader Sloane Brodie (37), who's also his jaguar Therian partner and lover. Sloane is recovering from a bomb explosion attack by The Coalition, while doing so he's worried for his partner who can't let the attack go. Dex is dead on set to catch the leader of The Coalition, even lying to his lover to do so. Will this unauthorized mission break or make the couple?
“You’ll be okay,” Dex said, smiling when Sloane turned his head so he could nuzzle Dex’s hand. He closed his eyes and let out a soft sigh.
“Stay.”
Dex felt a lump in his throat. “I’m not going anywhere,” he promised.
Sloane hummed before nodding again. “Good. Need you.” His features softened as he drifted off, but not before he said one more word. “Always.”

Overall, one this I loved about this book was we finally got to see a closer and deeper bond between Dex and Sloane, something I've been waiting for. As for the story, it was interesting to see Dex working on his own, but I didn't like how little we saw Sloane. I hope - really hope - the rest of the series continue from Dex and Sloane POV. I'm too scared to check - like it would ruin my luck or something :P I really like seeing them devolve and grow stronger together. Btw, I loved the ending.
“Yeah. I’m sorry. How about on the way home I pick up some dinner for us?”
Sloane nodded. “Call me?” Did he sound needy? Fuck it, he was injured. He was needy. His partner—who had promised to take care of him—should be here with him, especially since he was supposed to be on leave. God, he did sound needy. Screw it. He’d almost been killed. He reserved the right to be a big baby and want his partner to coddle him, God damn it. Wasn’t that what boyfriends did? If they didn’t, they should. His should. It was seriously time for another nap.

Other Characters:
Isaac Pearce, a Homicide Detective. His brother, Gabe, who had been a THIRDS agent and died a year ago; had been killed by a Therian informant. Though that proved to be a lie; Isaac had killed his own brother. Gabe used to be Sloane human partner. Sloane and Gabe were sleeping together. A year before Gabe died, it had gotten pretty serious. They’d been together four years. Got killed in book two.
Anthony ‘Tony’ ‘Sarge’ ‘Sergeant’ ‘Sir’ Maddock, Dex's adoptive father and a sergeant at the Therian-Human Intelligence Recon Defense Squadron (Destructive Delta) otherwise known as the THIRDS.
→ THIRDS Destructive Delta Agent Tech Expert, Cael Maddock (27?), Dex's adoptive little brother and a cheetah Therian. Rosa Santiago, his human partner and Destructive Delta's crisis negotiator and medic. Both Recon agents.
Ash Keeler, a lion Therian and Destructive Delta's entry tactics and CQC expert, and his human partner, Julietta ‘Letty’ Guerrera, their weapons expert. Ash was also Sloane's best friend.
Ethan Hobbs, a Therian Tiger and Destructive Delta's sniper and his human partner, Calvin ‘Cal’ Summers, their demolitions expert.
Rafe (the oldest brother), Team Leader for Alpha Ambush and Tiger Therian and Sebastian ‘Seb’ (middle brother), Agent for Theta Destructive newly promoted to Team Leader for Theta Destructive. Was once on Destructive Delta but was transferred after his relationship to Hudson ended in a breach of protocol and civilian loss. Is a Tiger Therian. Both Hobbs’s big brothers.
→ Dr. Nina Bishop, THIRDS Destructive Delta’s medical examiner and a human.
→ Dr. Hudson Colbourn, THIRDS chief medical examiner, and a Canis Lupus (wolf) Therian.
→ Lieutenant Sonya Sparks, for THIRDS Unit Alpha and a Cougar Therian. Partner to human Tony.
Louis ‘Lou’ Huerta, Dex's ex-boyfriend of four years.
→ THIRDS Agent Ellis Taylor, Team Leader of Beta Ambush, and leopard Therian.
→ THIRDS Agent Levi Stone, Team Leader of Beta Pride, and white tiger Therian. Got arrested for being a mole inside the THIRDS and part of the Ikelos Coalition in book three.
Osmond Zachary ‘Zach’, Agent for Alpha Sleuth in Unit Beta and brown bear Therian. Has six brothers working for the THIRDS.
Bradley Darcy, bartender and owner of Bar Dekatria and Jaguar Therian.
Austen Payne (23? 24?), Squadron Specialist Agent (SSA) for Destructive Delta and a Cheetah Therian.
Angel Reyes, Member of the Order. Former member of the gang Westward Creed.
→ Dr. Abraham Shultzon, was the head doctor during the First Gen Recruitment Program who was personally responsible for the wellbeing of the THIRDS’ First Gen Recruits. He was also responsible for the tests that were run on the Therian children.
Arlo Keeler, Ash’s twin brother killed during the riots in the 1980s.
Beck Hogan, a Tiger Therian and leader of The Coalition.
Drew Collins, a Cougar Therian and a part of The Coalition; Hogan's new second-in-command.
Felipe Bautista, Drew Collins’s boyfriend of ten years and a wolf Therian.
Maddock stormed in, nostrils flaring, dark eyes pinning them to the spot. Behind him the door opened, and Dex ran in. He dramatically threw himself in front of Sloane.
“But Daddy, I love him!”
Maddock rolled his eyes. “Yeah, all right there, Pocahontas. Get lost.”
“Damn.” Dex turned and patted Sloane’s cheek. “I’m sorry, babe. You’re on your own.” He gave Sloane’s lips a sweet kiss. “Love you.” Then bolted from the room like it was on fire.
“Coward!” Sloane called out.
“Did you call my boy a coward?” Maddock asked.
Sloane held a hand up. “In the most loving way possible.” He tried to give Maddock his most charming smile. Maddock’s frown deepened, and Sloane leaned over to whisper at Ash.
“On second thought. Pray.”

I can't believe I've read 4 books about the same characters! And loved them all! That says something about this series. It's fantastic! So why not 5 stars?

What I loved....

**Where Dex and Sloan ended up as a couple**

.....I really loved where their relationship ended.

**Sloane "marking" Dex**

.....I loved possessive Sloane! When his cat came to life and wanted to claim Dex! SO HOT!

**All of the secondary characters**

I honestly love every single one of them. And I can't wait to read their stories.

**The ending!**

The ending was

I loved it!

What I didn't like....

**Sloane and Dex being apart most of the first half**

....which led to my second dislike.

I hated Dex lying to Sloane! Even though I got it.

I enjoyed the story much more once everything was out in the open and they were all working together!

Still....an awesome addition to the series! I can't wait for Cael and Ash! But please, PLEASE make it a bit more smutty!!!

Reread August 2021

I swear Dex is one of my all-time favorite characters.

Reread May 2020

I really do love these two.

Reread June 2019

This one was just as good the second time around.

Originally read August 2018

Well, I got what I was looking for in this book from Sloane and it's about time. He's definitely growing on me and I can tell he loves Dex a lot. Now this go round, Dex got on my nerves a wee bit. He was just not using his head. Little did I know he's a bit screwed up too so I guess him and Sloane are actually perfect for each other.

There's lots of relationships going on so it's like a damn soap opera. But I'm not complaining. I absolutely love the whole team and they all deserve a HEA.

That ending? I was literally laughing out loud. Perfect!

Still loving this series and of course, Dex is still my fave character. This story made me laugh so hard in some parts and if I wasn’t laughing I was smiling! Don’t get me wrong, it still had some action scenes but the funny moments were really good. Loved the writing as always and so glad Sloane finally embraced fully what he had and I meant Dex! Dex was as charming as ever, Sloane got better in this relationship and I enjoyed the interaction between other characters! Told in multiple POV, 3rd person. It’s the fourth installment in the "THIRDS" series and it has to be read in order. Now I’m ready for Ash & Cael’s story! Overall, I had fun reading this and hope you enjoy it as well!

I was going to give this book 4 stars but the last chapter alone is worth 5 stars so

5+++++++ stars

The first part dragged on and I wanted to smack Dex most of the time but once he came to his senses the Dex I loved was back and I quickly forgave him for his TSTL phase.

This book had me like:

description

The reason I loved this a lot

Dex and Sloane

“Sloane went thoughtful. “Did you get turned on?” His partner’s face went beet red and Sloane laughed. “Oh my God! You got turned on. You little perv.”
“What? It was like watching live porn.”

Ash and Cael finally i got a kiss..

Calvin and Hobbs (Hobbs talked, he actually talked),

The rest of the Team

And Let’s not forget about Austen

"You've watched us have sex?" Sloane gaped at him. Austen didn't seem the least bit bothered.
"Like I said. Free porn. Your boy has a mighty fine ass. And he's so energetic. Seriously. Do his batteries ever wear out?"

description

The Sex was hot! and the Marking Ohhh!

and........

Maddock My hero:

“You and Keeler get your asses in the back. We have shit to discuss.”
“About what?”
“About where you two have decided to plant your dicks.”
“Now I’m not gonna tell you what to do with your relationships, but I sure as hell am gonna tell you what NOT to do. Now you two get your asses in there.”
"Keeler, you have so many issues, you can put the fucking New York Times out of business."

description

Behind him the door opened, and Dex ran in. He dramatically threw himself in front of Sloane.
"But Daddy, I love him!"
Maddock rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, all right there, Pocahontas. Get lost."

I love this series more and more with each book. It always makes me laugh and this time it also left me with a big smile on my face.

In this installment all relationships progress. Ash and Hobbs finally decide to do what they feel deep down in their heart instead of running away and hiding their feelings to the person they truly love. Plus, some guys drop the L word. It made me so freakin happy.

As always, there's lots of action, humor and feels. The ending is just hilarious; Dad Tony and Old Betsy make an appearance.

Ash and Cael's story is next and I seriously can't wait!

I think I have a new favorite book in the series. This bad boy is amazing. It's easily the best book for Sloane and Dex's relationship, but it's also not an easy ride. There are ups and downs and things go wrong and things go right. But no matter what happens in this book, you get one thing. Relationship progress. Dex and Sloane are a great couple. I've always enjoyed reading them. But this book made me fall completely head over heels in love with them.

Rise & Fall picks up where Rack & Ruin ended. The beginning of this made my heart ache because I didn't know what would happen to Sloane. A million different things were running through my mind while I was starting this and the worry kept building. The lighter, more comic relief moments were needed, especially in the beginning.

I have a lot of favorite moments in this book. Some are Dex and Sloane, one is Dex, Ash and Sloane, another is Ash and Sloane and the other one is the ending, which I will talk about more later because quite frankly I think it's my favorite book ending ever! I've never laughed so hard while reading and I'm still smiling now thinking about it.

The relationship between Dex and Sloane is an interesting one. I wanted Dex to be happy so I was always hoping Sloane would cop on and figure out what he wanted. Sometimes I doubted it was Dex. This book proved all those old insecurities wrong. Now I know for a fact he wants and loves Dex just as much as Dex wants and loves him. These guys can be crazy sweet when they're together and they also can be funny, which is awesome. Something about them being together and happy makes me smile and I love it. I love this book for giving me that. I love this couple for making me want to read more of them.

“They never caught them you know.” “Who?” What on earth was his partner talking about? Was he talking in his sleep? “The men who killed my parents.” “Oh, Dex….” Sloane placed a kiss to Dex’s brow. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”

Some of the other couples in the series get a mention here. Some more than others, ie. Ash and Cael and Calvin and Hobbs. We get to see some happiness and hope there. And maybe a little more. That made me really happy and it makes me excited for their books.

Now for the ending. That ending was hilarious, to say the least. I'm not sure I want to spoil this for anyone. But I love Tony and I love the type of dad he is. I would love the next book to pick up from there, because that would be a hilarious start and I have a feeling we'll need it for Ash and Cael. I'm also really looking forward to seeing if Old Betsy makes an appearance again.

"Dex! It's Old Besty!"

I need the next book right now! I need to get Cael and Ash's story and I need more of this series. This book is definitely going on my favorites list!

To say I was excited for this book is a huge understatement

I still love each single character in this series and can not wait for their books. Especially Austen. I was a little  dissappointed that Sloane was more  stuck at home than kick some asses with his teammates. But that didnt stop me from enjoying this book.

I loved sappy Sloane, I loved possesive Sloane even more. And now Im ready for Ash and Cael.

My casting for Cael:

 My casting for Ash

(Just kidding, thats not really the casting but Ive always wanted to make a casting sometime :D)

Truly people I’m about to sob with all the sweetness.

Personally I’m a huge fan of wild cats anyway and seeing all these bad ass guys being also all bad ass in their felid forms but then also totally sweet by purring and bumping their heads against their human partners in affection or even grooming them??? This really brings me to my knees in sugar overload. Maaaan!!

And to top it all off, Sloane (the big ass black jaguar Therian) started purring for Dex in his HUMAN form???? And then the mark? Uugh, I’m so done 😭❤️

***********
and now, totally out of context:

Maddock stormed in, nostrils flaring, dark eyes pinning them to the spot. Behind him the door opened, and Dex ran in. He dramatically threw himself in front of Sloane.

“But Daddy, I love him!”

Maddock rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, all right there, Pocahontas. Get lost.”

“Damn.” Dex turned and patted Sloane’s cheek. “I’m sorry, babe. You’re on your own.”

This scene was the best. I was laughing SO HARD I was having trouble breating. omg, so good!

And I’m glad Charlie Cochet does not leave us hanging and continues this scene in the next book!! *lmaooo

The next book in this incestuous little group of gay-shifter cops. Pretty much, everyone is hooking up with someone else in the squad.

An outsider's question to the team:

"Question one: are you all screwing each other?
Question two: how can I get in on the action?"

What the hell. What's one more guy at this point?

The only problem with this book in the series is that my favorite character, Dex, gets serious. You know how much I hate serious stuff. I'm against it. But, he's all being Mr. Broody and shit in this one. *sigh*

Also, he's being a lousy boyfriend because his man just got out of the hospital and needs help while he recovers but Dex stays away for days at a time. Totally rude! And, his boyfriend didn't just have the man-flu, it was a serious injury! He truly needed someone to take care of him!

But Dex's attitude:

Still...
loving the series, the squad, the bros. Lots of fun.

You know when you're reading a book, that you're loving, and the end is coming... and you don't want the end to come... not yet, please, not yet!!!! I felt like this when I've finished this book! I could be reading about Dex&Sloane, Delta Destructive, Thirds... all day, and I wouldn't get tired... it wouldn't be enough...

This series is absolutely fantastic, and this book is fabulous... I love everything about it: Dex (that's it, I love all of Dex), how Sloane realized what he really felt for Dex, Ash and Cael, Cal and Hobbs... Austin!!! And Tony... Pocahontas, really? That was genius!!!!

Charlie Cochet, you are a brilliant writer! I love your style and your characters! I just can't get enough of them!

It couldn't have ended better! For me, this series just keeps improving. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars to this book because it was freaking awesome. I think this is the last book of Sloan and Dex story and Geez, it was perfect!!!

This whole book kept me grinning, laughing, swooning and sighing from beginning to end.

I can't write a proper review: first I'm writing it up from my phone and second, I'm still giggling like a stupid with that ending, I hope Sarge Tony won't be too hard with Ash and Sloan. LOL

As usual, I can't wait to start the next book. I'm so intrigued with what's gonna happen with Cael and Ash and the rest of the team, specially Cal and Hobb (Oh.My.God. I already know how hot they can be. Why can't I read these books fast enough??!!)

I highly recommend this whole series!!!!

Wow. For some reason that just totally clicked for me.

I’ve got to say that the best part of this book was the fantastic fun factor, in and amongst the serious parts of finding and bringing down some bad guys. As this series continues, stories and backgrounds are layered and growing more complex, making it all the more interesting. This cast of characters mesh so well as they bring an extremely entertaining view into the various shenanigans and crazy situations they find themselves in. It all just worked, you know?

Despite some frustrating lack of communication between Dex and Sloane, their relationship and the other pairings made for some really great moments. So much drama, drama, drama - but the good kind! And the love proclamations?? Don’t get me started. FINALLY, Sloane gets his head out of his ass and we get to see him and Dex really connect and eventually be free to express how they feel. Fans of shifter books won’t be disappointed at all with what goes down with these two. Uh huh.

So there’s some kick ass action, and some major (but well loved) dopey, sappy, swoony scenes. I think I went “awwww” at least 100 times between Sloane & Dex, Ash & Cael and Calvin & Hobbes. No joke. This series has really hit its stride, and I’m now totally invested!

This is book #4 in the THIRDS series and it's my favorite so far.

We get again a lot of action and suspense. And what's better than going against orders and rules? Their team was stronger than ever!

What I really LOVED here would be that DEX and Sloane's relationship became stronger! *sigh*
And things are starting to move between Cael and Ash and Calvin and Hobbs. Finally!!!

Some scenes are hard to believe and over the top, but overall I absolutely adore these characters and Dex still makes me laugh SO hard!!!

I've had a busy week, but I've read in each and every spare moment. This series is SO addictive and I love the writing!!! I'm looking forward for Cael and Ash's story!!!

This is yet another great book in the THIRDS series from Charlie Cochet. In this fourth book in the series we see Team Leader Sloane Brodie out of commission due to the explosion at the end of book 3. Therefore much of the action part of the book centers around Dex traveling down a dark path, disobeying orders on his quest for revenge. There are some great interpersonal scenes between various characters that do a lot to both develop characters and advance the storyline. It gets a bit frustrating at times as we listen to Dex’s inner monologue and the knowledge that he is being careless with Sloane’s needs and feelings, something that is out of character from the way the character has been developed in the previous three book. There is a lame attempt at an explanation for his behavior thrown out there but it’s never really dealt with which is kind of disappointing.

Additionally the interpersonal relationships among members of Destructive Delta makes you wonder exactly how clueless those in charge at THIRDS are. There’s also a revelation regarding withholding of information that gives us, once again, more reasons to hate the government and distrust the lieutenant.

This book appears to wrap up the storyline that has arced through the first four books so I’m interested to see where the stories go from here. Looking forward to book five. Love this series and this author.

I was a bit disappointed in this one. I'm not a fan of relationship angst, and I didn't like it here. It wasn't too bad, but I just didn't like Dex keeping secrets from Sloane (even though Sloane guessed what Dex was doing). It made for a very tense book, while all I wanted for them to be happy.

What bothered me a bit about the first half was that there were not a lot of funny times with Dex. I can understand that this was not the time for fun and jokes, but I still missed it. I did love the end though. We finally get a glimpse of the humor we saw in the other books.

I was also happy when Dex and Sloane finally opened up to each other and that there were no more secrets between them.

And I really love Cael, and somehow even Ash has grown on me.

On to the next!

Before I start, major points for sticky sweet by way of Def Leppard. One of the best tracks on one of the best albums evah.

Ahem, now then, I'm gonna review this partially through the lens of Star Wars. Why? Because I can.

Oh and also, because I can, I'm gonna start in the middle.

Just like parts of Empire Strikes Back, the story got in the way of the characters during... yup, the middle. The characters were separated most of the time, therefore the levels of chemistry, humor, and emotion dipped, were stretched thin, weren't fed by these very things that make these fantastic teammates/friends/lovers, well... freakin' fantastic! Now, does this mean none of these ingredients appeared in the weird blue milk* recipe? Not at all, but they were few and far between, behaving like the unexpected bonus of a functioning warp drive indicator lighting up the flight controls.
Ok, the emotion was more than a blinking beacon. I mean, how can there not be emotion with this bunch?

Also, like TESB, this may morph into the most appreciated volume in the overall story once all is said and done. We shall see.

Ok so let's get to the part you're all waiting for: who's who!! Now, these aren't exact correlations, but definitely some shared traits. Dex is Han Solo in that, one, I wholeheartedly believe Han would dig 80's music like Dex and, two, he also tosses caution to the wind like a week old newspaper, filling in all of the cracks and mistakes with loyalty, humor, ability and heart.

Cael is Artoo. Make of that what you will, but just know Artoo rules the school. Thatisall.

Ash is Luke. Gruff (once he, Luke, has his "no, daddy, no" realization), unstoppable, full of heart and determination, and a little slow on the uptake. Everybody loves Luke, just like everybody loves Ash... now.

Calvin is Threepio - does what it takes - and Hobbs is his often silent partner, the silver-ized mirror to Threepio. Um, I realize this might be a difficult reference to understand, unless you had the trading cards, but the "mirror" is the important part of that equation. Focus, people!

Sloane... I dunno, Luke's uncle Owen? Steadfast, lots going on under the surface, always ready with a plan. Granted, Sloane is wayyyyyy hotter, but still.

You get the picture, I'm tired of painting.

Long on plot, not as much on character interaction that leads to unexpected developments (there are developments, but they're expected), and a vehicle to end one major storyline and set up for the next ones in this series, all of these are this book. A plot is good but the characters carry and weave and cross stitch the threads of that plot.

I enjoyed spending time with all of these people, I just wish they had spent more time with each other, in whatever capacities, in any configurations.

One maaaaaaaajor exception that gets all the maaaaaaaajor points? "... I know."

Just dropped my mic like a snack hurled into the pit of Carkoon with a starving sarlacc, I did.

Have fun storming the battered THIRDS castle with the gang. :)

*I do apologize for the Star Wars IV reference while invoking Star Wars V, it could not be helped. Mostly, because I didn't want to help it. Ok, all because I didn't want to help it.

I have been loving this series so far and this one has been my favorite (I probably say that every time though) Loved all the team secretly working together scenes. So fast and action packed and also so many hilarious scenes. So excited for Calvin & Hobbes book now!

Dex narrando os momentos de Calvin e Hobbs /Cael e Ash
description

These books are really so much fun. Another enjoyable installment with the THIRDS.

As you all know, Rack & Ruin ended with a bang and then, well, ended. What a freaking cliffie! Thank God this picked right up where the other left off and we got thrown right back into the story. This story was as exciting as the first three, it was as funny and it was seriously as steamy. Bonus, we got much more of the other couples in the book that I am sure all of us are anxious for. I really enjoyed it, mostly…

Dex, Dex, Dex…you were on the verge of ruining some of this book for me. I understood the why of the things that you did but I didn’t want you to do them and you shouldn’t have. Sloane needed you with him…Alright, that needed to be said and I feel better saying it. Dex of course gets a pass, normally he isn’t the one causing the angst. Oh, and I totally just love him.

At the end of the day this is one of those series that probably can’t do anything that would make me not love it. It just has so much going for it and more, more, more is usually what my brain says.

Oh, and the ending to this book? PRICELESS.

5 HUGE AMAZING STARS!! Sloan and Dex are wonderful together, the crew is just as awesomely ass-kicking as usual, and the laughs-well it was great. This is one of those rare series that continues to improve and grow with each new book and I for one cannot wait to see what happens next!

Again a bit of a mixed bag. There’s enough to keep me reading but not enough to totally win me over.

I LOVE this series and I LOVED this book!

I loved the progression in the relationship between Dex and Sloane.

I loved the intertactions between Calvin and Ethan as well as Ash and Cael.

There were so many good lines that made me laugh (especially when Cael was being sarcastic with Dex).

I loved the struggle that Dex had with himself between what he was doing and how it was impacting his relationship with Sloane. He did do some dumbass stuff, but I'm cutting him some slack because he was blinded by love.

I loved it whenever Ethan actually talks :)

I enjoyed every page and can't wait to read more about Ethan/Calvin and Ash/Cael as well as the rest of the gang!

Not my favourite instalment of the series. Too many lies from basically everyone but especially Dex. :( I loved that he and Sloane finally got it together after Sloane's injury, and the L word has not only been acknowledged by Sloane but has been eclipsed by . Ash has finally woken up and I suspect Cael's dreams will eventually come true, the same for Calvin and Ethan Hobbs and SURELY Seb and the good doctor Hudson must find their way back to each other??

What I can't understand though is that there is DEFINITELY a mole in THIRDS, hence why Beck knew about everything that was happening BUT no mention has been made of it...at all!!

A big thumbs up from me for Def Leppard and 'Pour some sugar on Me'. :)

Shit....I can't believe I'm done. I'm so sad right now. But of course I'm gonna read all of them again pretty soon. I also can't wait for the next book about Cael. I read somewhere that are gonna be more books anout Sloane and Dex, I hope that's true, because I would love to read more about them. The ending still felt so open to me. The waiting is gonna kill me....Well'...I loved reading every single book and I especialy loved the "marking" in this book....so HOT and sexy. Never thought I would read a book about shifters before, but thanks to my GR friends it's now one of my favorie series. 5 stars for me.
