Three of the funniest bestselling romance authors have joined together to provide three novellas set on Hung Island, a fictional resort along the coast of Georgia.
All Hung Up A Romantic Suspense by Kathleen Brooks
When Trey Everett meets Hollywood star Taylor Jefferies for the first time in the small town of Keeneston, the normally outgoing college football star can barely put two words together. But after one crazy day together, Trey knows he's found something special with Taylor.
Six years have passed and they are both out of college and living out their dream jobs on a small island along the coast of Georgia. Trey's ready to ask Taylor one little question to secure their happiness. The only problem stopping his fairy tale ending is that someone is determined to kill the mood... and the love of his life.
Divorced, Desperate and Dangerous A Contemporary Romance by Christie Craig
Detective Turner Calder belongs to the No Ball and Chain Gang. Meaning, no way, no how will he ever let another woman into his heart. He hasn't even been tempted after what his ex put him through. Yet while working undercover on the trail of one of Texas' largest drug dealers, Reece Morris gets closer to him than any woman has in two years. Not that's there's a snowball chance in Hades it will lead anywhere once she discovers the truth. But two months later, when Turner realizes his now imprisoned suspect has hired someone to knock off witnesses and Reece is one of them, he's dead set on saving her. If that means taking on her seventy-year-old grandma who has a black belt in Karate, a hired assassin--who scares him less than Granny--and the whole bat-shit crazy town of Hung, Georgia, he's up for the challenge. Turner is about to turn over a brand new leaf, and get hung up on love.
Ready to Were A Paranormal Romance by Robyn Peterman
I never planned on going back to Hung Island, Georgia. Ever. I was a top notch Were agent for the secret Paranormal Council and happily living in Chicago where I had everything I needed - a gym membership, season tickets to the Cubs and Dwayne - my gay, Vampyre best friend. Going back now would mean facing the reason I'd left and I'd rather chew my own paw off than deal with Hank.
Hank the Tank Wilson was the six foot three, obnoxious, egotistical, perfect-assed, best-sex-of-my-life, Werewolf who cheated on me and broke my heart. At the time, I did what any rational woman would do. I left in the middle of the night with a suitcase, big plans and enough money for a one-way bus ticket to freedom. I vowed to never return.
But here I am, trying to wrap my head around what has happened to some missing Weres without wrapping my body around Hank. I hope I don't have to eat my words and my paw.
Kathleen Brooks is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author. Kathleen's stories are romantic suspense featuring strong female heroines, humor, and happily-ever-afters. Her Bluegrass, Bluegrass Brothers®, Forever Bluegrass®, and Shadows Landing Series feature small-town charm with quirky characters while her Women of Power Series shows that behind every sexy billionaire is a man strong enough to love her! Then hang onto your seat for the wild and mysterious ride in the thrilling Web of Lies Series and a little magic in the Moonshine Hollow Series.
Kathleen is an animal lover who supports rescue organizations and other non-profit organizations, such as Friends and Vets Helping Pets, whose goals are to protect and save our four-legged family members.
Kathleen is from Kentucky, where she graduated from Centre College and then later received her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Kathleen still resides in Kentucky with her family and houseful of animals.
Each individual story is great by itself. However, I love the way the three authors used come of the same characters and the same island for their stories. It gives a very complete feel for the island and it's folkore. Very quick and easy and I loved all three.
I loved it!! I'm a big fan of Kathleen Brooks and Crisite Craig. This was my 1st intoduction to Robyn Peterman and I liked it. I love all the authors worked together keeping the storyline in the same town with the same core characters. I also loved that we were able to check with characters from past books. overall it was awesome!!
Review to come...Hello fun cover! Robyn Peterman is my go-to author when I need a pee your pants funny read, and when I saw that she came out with Ready to Were in an anthology with two other authors, I knew I needed to read it. I poured myself a cup of coffee and cozied up with my Kindle. (Sidenote: I think I need to name my Kindle; since he and I spend an entirely large amount of time in bed together!)
First up in this book was Kathleen Brooks and All Hung Up. You meet Taylor Jefferies, a Hollywood starlet and Trey Everett, small town football star turned pro. Both choose a quiet life in Hung Island, Georgia instead of the bright lights of the big city. This incredibly sweet story of the world's hardest proposal had me in a non-stop fit of giggles. The grand gestures in the romance genre will never grow old with me. And this story is no exception. "You deserve so much more than a country boy like me, but I promise no one will love you as much as I do. I fell in love with you by the pond in Keeneston the night we first met, and I've spent these past years falling more and more in love with you. Not only do you make me a better man, we make each other stronger. We're a team, a family, and I would love nothing more than to be your husband." By the end of her contribution to this anthology, I added all her books to my TBR shelf on Goodreads and my Wish List on Amazon!
Our second trip to Hung Island, Georgia is Divorced, Desperate and Dangerous by Christie Craig. Reese Morris walks into Casey's Honkytonk Diner to run away from her problems back home. A broken heart, a breech of trust, a witnessed murder leads her to pouring coffee and serving up the best damn breakfast on all of Hung Island - to the locals first, of course. Reese hopes this help keep Trey Freedman - or Turner Calder, as she learned was his real name - off her mind.
In this diner, she finds her peace in a gun-toting lady by the name of Casey and a former FBI agent who she dropped eggs on and paid $20 to smile so she could get the job! In walks, Trey Turner and asks to be sat in her section. "What the hell did he want with her? What part of, 'The tooth fairy ill be serving cherry Popsicles in hell before I give you the time of day again,' did he not understand? Had she not been clear?" This story was full of suspense and I felt like I was turning the pages so quick to get the the HEA.
Turner has an amazing group of friends, Cops and PI's who are all content on never getting close to a woman again. They are a group of divorced men who called themselves the No Ball and Chain Gang. They watched out for each other if any were in danger of getting to close to getting in too deep with a woman. Nobody held a chance in stopping Turner from making things right between him and Reese. And as much as Reese wasn't having his apologies, it was hard not to loose yourself in Turner - after all, "Let me tell you, if he was gravy and I was a biscuit, I'd sop that plate clean." I cannot believe I have never read any books by Christie Craig - she is talented beyond belief. She also pens YA novels under the name C.C. Hunter! And my TBR lists grows...
To wrap up our vacation on Hung Island, Robyn Peterman fills us in on the stories we heard briefly during the treasure hunting about the paranormal activities on Hung with her deliciously witty story, Ready to Were. Robyn tosses you knee deep into the Council, a paranormal government that ran all things supernatural. WTF (Werewolf Treaty Federation) is who Agent Essie McGee worked for. Essie ran from Hung Island when she caught the love of her life, Alpha of her pack and the sexiest Were around cheating on her. Chicago is where she finally stopped. Dwayne is her 300+ year old Vampyre best friend she only answered to her Granny, and the WTF! When Essie gets an assignment that sends her back to Hung - she is not pleased to be working with the local pack alpha and sheriff. "Name's Hank Wilson. You know him?" "Yep." Biblically. I knew the son of a bitch biblically. With Dwayne tagging along, she heads to Hung Island to be the professional she has worked so hard to become. Essie knew she could work with Hank, get the job done and be back to Chicago before she knew it. Turns out Hank doesn't want to work with Essie either! He makes her prove herself with her impeccable gun skills and than hand-to-hand combat. "Pinned underneath him on the floor, my inner wolf hooker was ecstatic." No time for nonsense, they had missing were's to find all while maintaining the cover that Essie was home to work out their "issues." Ester and Henry were on the job! Dragons, Fairies and Vampyres beware. This duo is dangerous.
Hank's older brother, Junior is who I am petitioning for to get their own story! (And Dwayne of course, but I am sure he needs no help getting Robyn's attention in his Prada wedges and Gaga drag!) Junior's secret is safe with him - but when he finally steps up and takes over the Pack, he is going to be a force of nature and the woman who finally tames him - I need to be her friend. That will be one fierce lady. The HEA was perfect in this one. Sand in inappropriate places, Grandma in a thong bikini and a gay Vampyre demanding to see the ring - what better way to end the fun and giggle filled vacation to Hung Island? "Weird was my new normal - accept and continue."
My favorite aspect of this anthology was that all the stories tied the location together. When I picked it up, I thought all would be beached themed stories, but to have them all with a central location made them all flow so well. Each showed the individual author's incredible talent to paint a beautiful story with their words.
All Hung Up by Kathleen Brooks I have been patiently waiting for another book in one of my favourite series (The Bluegrass/Bluegrass Brother Series), so this was a highly anticipated story for me. Unsurprisingly, Kathleen Brooks did not disappoint! Trey and Taylor's story was sweet, suspenseful and loads of fun! Kathleen truly has a gift to keep her readers captivated from beginning to end. By the time you are finished reading this book you will want to pack your bags and move to Keeneston! Thank you Kathleen, you continue to be an author I will always highly recommend!
Divorced, Desperate And Dangerous by Christie Craig Christie Craig never fails to have me falling on the floor laughing! She is a pure entertainer and her stories are always delightful. The dialogue was witty, the characters enchanting and the romantic suspense and humorous situations in this story make it a must read to be sure! Christie unceasingly makes me want to run out and get her next book. You've done it again Christie, taken me on a wild ride I didn't want to get off!
Ready To Were by Robyn Peterman Robyn Peterman is a new author to me but now that I have found her, I certainly will be reading many more of her books! Ready to Were was a funny, creative and highly entertaining read. The characters were larger than life...From the feisty heroine, hilarious granny, a hero you'll dream about, to the unforgettable gay friend you will want to take home with you! I kept reading lines out loud to my husband throughout the story because I just couldn't keep them to myself. Bravo Ms Peterman! You are definitely an author I will be following from now on!
In conclusion, I loved the way these three authors interlinked their stories but at the same time gave them their personal flair and made them unique! Go buy this Set and be prepared to be highly entertained!
I was so excited to read Kathleen Brooks' newest book that I barely even noticed the other authors, but let me say, every book was wonderful, delightful and blended. As much as I enjoyed all of the books, the very fact that there was just a bit of crossover in characters as well as the shared location increased my enjoyment.
I have long been a fan of Kathleen Brooks and Christie Craig but I have only recently started reading Robyn Peterman's works and was a little curious to see how these three would be brought together cohesively! Done, Done, and Done with style!
I usually do at least a small review but I don't want to give away anything from the adventure you are about to take! Have a ball!
Loved this collection. I've long been a fan of Robyn Peterman, so I read her book first. Yet again, she has outdone herself. She has crafted a sexy and slightly disturbing paranormal romantic mystery. I'd truly love to know how her mind works, but think it might be just a tad terrifying. Ready to Were is a wonderful book filled with plenty of humor and snark as only Robyn can do it.
I am new to the other authors, but have become a fan. After all, if you find an author you love partners with other authors, you're probably going to love their books, too.
If you are looking for a great summer collection, this is it. And for on 33 cents each, how can you go wrong. The entire book will cost less than the coffee you're probably drinking right now.
Great box set - worth all 99 pennies and so much more.
Love the Bluegrass series by Kathleen Brooks. All Hung Up is a great addition to the series - SUSPENSEFUL!! Love that we revisited Trey and Taylor. Christie Craig is new to me, a wonderful introduction at that. Divorced Desperate and Dangerous is an ENTERTAINING read. Robyn's Ready to Were what can I say get ready to pee in your pants & LAUGH them off! A SUPERnatural read.
I love how the authors collaborated to create this box set & then set forth to interconnect the stories as well.
I had never read Kathleen Brooks or Christie Craig before. Robyn Peterman is one of my favorite authors so definitely have read her books! I've found 2 more favorites to read!
These three stories each had me hooked from the beginning all the way through. Each story was awesome and did not want to put down. I didn't want the stories to end. Loved the story lines and characters. Absolutely delightful!!
What a fantastic trio of amazing authors and an outstanding summer read! I so recommend this to all, outstanding!! Great, great job!!
I had so much fun reading these three novellas I haven't stopped laughing!
Hung Island Georgia is a "tottlin' town": one way in...one way out, and don't tick off the locals ;).
First novella is a pretty straight forward "coming of age" novella. Second is a kind of "good cop, bad cop" type, and the third is, without a doubt, the best most FUN paranormal story I have ever read.
Give yourself a treat this summer...one that doesn't wreck your summer caloric intake!
I have said this before and will say it over and over, I love Robyn Peterman! I will read anything she writes. Out of the 3 stories, hers was my favorite. I love her warped sense of humor! This book was such a steal at $.99! I really enjoyed all 3 stories and love how they all centered on this one island and how they all loosely connected. This was a great collaboration and hope there will be more in the future!
I bought this book because i absolutely love Robyn Peterman, but i was pleasently surprised by all three authors in this book, it did not dissapoint! i was gripped and engaged from page one of the first book till the last page of the last book. i recommend this book to anyone looking for a good laugh and love storys all rolled into one!
This was a very nice story. Essie and Hank romance was hot, but Dwayne, the gay Vampyre best friend was out of mind. If you add, Grandma Bobby Sue, you have a lot of laugh. That duo (Dwayne and Grandma) was amazing. Loved the way that this story links with "All Hung Up" of Kathleen Brooks and "Divorced, Desperate and Dangerous" of Christie Craig. Hung Island characters were amazing.
Loved it!! All three of these ladies are some of my favorite authors. Lots of fun/laughter and mystery too!! Really enjoyed this and hoping these authors continue with this series. And I couldn't help but notice that one of Robyn's characters had my name!! ;)
What a fun compilation of stories. I loved the way the three stories shared common characters, building the town through each authors vision. And the live stories were great, I doubt Hung has seen so much action since the pirates showed up!
love this story as it takes you to the unknown and you feel you are a.part of it.the relation ships mystery, sex are awesome. Almost believable that we are not alone in this world. Great reading ..enjoy . but be careful we may not.. be alone.....
Wonderful!!! Three authors collaborated to write three separate novellas all set in the same little town with an overlapping character list. It's a great read!!!
Nice and easy read. Great little addition to the Bluegrass family and Intro into the Women of Power series. Always fun to revisit Keenston and its quirky residents. Trey and Taylor were so sweet together, its kind of messed up that they were together for seven long years before Trey decided to man up and propose, just because he was insecure. Their relationship wasn't a waste as they both finished school and settled into their respective careers but it almost got stale, he was too sexy to be so insecure. There were so many children's names thrown in this book, I forgot who was who, I hope if Ms. Brooks continues to write little Bluegrass novellas, she refrains from mentioning so many of the past characters and their offspring, it just confuses the reader...
Divorced, Desperate and Dangerous by Christie Craig: 3.5 Stars
I'm guessing there's a book before this one? There are entirely to many references to past situations and characters that left me super confused and as I've never read this author before, I didn't research. In any case, I did enjoy this read, I loved the connection with All HUNG Up and some its characters, Casey and Frank are hilarious and I really hope their attraction pans out because they seem to really need one another. I think the majority of Reese's anger towards Turner was misplaced, she did have every right to be upset because he lied to her but blaming him for her brother was right stupid. Seems her brother was an idiot, hung out with the wrong crowd, got mixed up doing the wrong thing until it was too late to get out. He was at fault, not her and definitely not Turner. After every thing is said and done he still goes out his way to make sure both siblings are safe. Plus she gave in to her hormones pretty damn quick so she couldn't have been that mad...
Ready to Were by Robyn Peterman: 5 Stars
I love Robyn Peterman because every time I pick up one of her books, I know I am going to love the original story line, laugh hysterically at all of the characters and walk away with a bunch of new funny as hell cuss words! Plus her heroes are always super hot, ultra sexy and major alphas! Hank was no different! OMG Dwayne was fantastic as well as granny, they were so funny! Essie was the perfect partner for Hank, yeah she was gullible in her youth but she owned up to her mistakes and she grew into her own. I loved her character!
I feel like the first two went together and the third book is completely about the fantasy not all human people. It would have been cool if the books all intertwined somehow. They base it in the same location but have all the characters some how interlinked with each other. They were fun reads but probably worth the 2$ it was. I wouldn't spend anymore then that.
First book by Kathleen Brooks - I liked the love story and relationship between Taylor and Trey. Every relationship should be as strong as theirs is. I felt like Taylor's parents gave me anxiety just reading it. I wish she had just taken care of them the first time. The anticipation with Trey's proposal when, how and if, is it their sign of never getting engaged. I am glad it didn't leave me with one of them actually dying. I don't ever feel good about those types of endings. It was a good read, when books make me feel anxious then I know it got to me. I will be interested with the other two.
Second by Christie Craig- I liked this book too. It had some suspense but it was mainly about tryin to love and trust again. When people hurt you there is a trust that you have to gain back and it's tough sometimes. Listening to your heart and really doing what you feel is true to you. It's great to get your feelings out because life is too short to be afraid and not take chances. I did like the dinosaur poop that was funny. It was a simple story and cute.
Third by Robyn Peterman- I love vampires, werewolves and dragon/fairy type stories so this one was cool. I didn't expect it to be since the other two were about humans. The twist in the book where she finds out all of her thoughts about this dude was a lie and she got tricked pretty badly was great. I am glad both werewolves finally got it on. At this point I wouldn't care if they caught the bad guys because it seemed to be more about the relationship. Well now that I read the ending it was great. The new idea of vampires and Dragons and creating a new species, could be taken to a new level of books. I laughed out loud when she said "noggin." I would have to say I liked this book the best.
If Kathleen Brooks is attached to it, I'm going to buy it! I love - LOVE - the Bluegrass Series so to see Taylor & Trey get their own novella was a delight. Their story focuses around Hung Island and the story behind it was absolutely hysterical! I laughed out loud several times during the book. Trey is desperate to propose to Taylor, but each proposal gets messed up somehow. Throw in her crazy parents, a meddling town, someone trying to sabotage Taylor's career, and all of your favorite characters from Keeneston throwing in their two cents, and you have one heck of a great read! Loved it!
This was my first Christie Craig novel and I wasn't disappointed! I was drawn to Reece and Turner's story immediately! Reece returns to Hung to nurse her broken heart. She's running from the man she knew as Trey, but in reality was Turner, an undercover police officer who was working a case involving Reece's brother. Turner realizes that Reece's life is in jeopardy and follows her to Hung. Turner realizes his feelings for Reece as so much more than like and does everything in his power to protect her. Reece tries to fight her feelings for Turner, but can't fight the pull she has towards the man. Throw in unusual characters from Hung and you have a great, suspenseful short story!
This was also my first Robyn Peterman Zahn story. Honestly, I almost didn't read it. Werewolf and Vampire stories aren't my thing. However, I decided to give the first few pages a try to see how it went. O! M! G! I LOVED IT! I never, ever thought I'd say that, but this book was so well written and had me cracking up, I couldn't put it down! You get a taste of Hank (the sheriff) in the other two books, but to find out he's a werewolf wasn't what I was expecting. He is tough, hot, and so very alpha! Essie was his mate, or so she thought, until he cheated. But did he? Her return to Hung makes her face her past with Hank who is still very much in love with her.
All three were great, fun reads! Highly recommended!
I enjoyed the books as a whole and they were fun but they did feel a bit rushed (paticularly the Christie Craig and Kathleen Brooks stories which both started with something of an information dump).
The Story by Kathleen Brooks was clearly part of a series- there were so many characters bought in in such a short space of time and the author seemed to expect the reader to know all about them and for someone who hadn't read anything else by her it was just confusing. If you've read the rest of the series it might be fun but I'd probably skip it if you haven't.
The Christie Craig story was also part of some sort of series but the extra characters were bought in right at the end so it wasn't too confusing but to be honest I didn't really enjoy it the story just didn't grab me, it was just a bit short and I felt like I didn't really get to know any of the characters.
The Robyn Peterman story was better- it wasn't part of a series so it wasn't as confusing as the other two and I also enjoyed it more- Dwayne is hilarious and it was a fun read.
One Sentence Synopsis Three very different stories by three different authors, all based in the town of Hung, Georgia.
All Hung Up By Kathleen Brooks A romance where the H/h are already in a committed relationship and the challenges they’re facing are all external? It’s like a unicorn. Told in the third person, it was a cute story with a nice couple. A bit sweet, but an easy read.
Divorced, Desperate and Dangerous by Christie Craig Snarkier romance with a bickering H/h, which I liked, even if the old “I’ll never fall in love” trope can be a bit wearing.
Ready to Were by Robyn Peterman The reason I borrowed this book, I enjoy Ms. Peterman’s humor which is on full display here. Fun little shifter romance, though a bit dependent on the old Big Mis trope which in this case, just drove me nuts. But it’s resolved about mid-way, and the rest of the story was just fun.
The Bottom Line Three decent novellas for a very low price (or free with Kindle Unlimited). I’d recommend it.
I have never came across a book by Christie Craig or Kathleen Brooks I have not LOVED!!!! All Hung up is a short story that is about some charters that we were introduced to in the Bluegrass series and Bluegrass Brothers. The details are above by I love how Mrs Brooks took characters from both of her series that was a great surprise...(by the way her next book comes out next month ) Divorced, Desperate and Dangerous comes straight from Texas and of course the sexy trio comes back and helps out...That is right I am talking about Chase Jason and Luke from the original series. Mrs Craig has another short story that keeps you on the edge with laughing and nail biting. Ready to Were was the first story I read from this author and though I enjoyed the story I would have to say that I would be ok if that story was left out of the book. Nothing was wrong like spelling or grammar it just was not on the same level as the other two stories
