Signal Bend #5

All the Sky

Rate this book
Joseph 'Havoc' Mariano is an enforcer for the Night Horde MC. He’s a punch first, think maybe kind of guy, a man of action. He's impatient and frustrated with the quiet life—times are changing, his town is changing, his club is changing, and Havoc places the blame squarely on the women that his brothers are settling down with. There's only room for two women in his life: his mother and his sister. Romance holds no appeal for him whatsoever. He’s a homegrown, hometown boy whose attitude covers scars he’s mostly forgotten about.

Corinne Hawes is a single mother struggling to find a way to make a life for her and her teenage son, Nolan. She is an artist at heart, a free spirit on whom the structure and rigor of routine chafes hard. When she takes a job that makes Havoc her boss, they butt heads. But in their confrontations, a spark ignites. When they let their guards down, that spark explodes into a blaze.

While Cory learns to trust Havoc, and Havoc grapples with a major shift in his priorities and outlook on life, the period of legitimacy and peace comes to an end for the Horde. They had no idea that they were in so deep until an old enemy resurfaces and perpetrates a horror that affects Havoc, and Cory, profoundly.

Note: explicit sex and violence.

I was born and raised in the Midwest, but I was transplanted into the dusty soil of Northern California and have apparently taken root there. An inveterate geek and gamer, I am a fan of many things considered pop culture and maybe even lowbrow.

As a reader, my favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but as a writer, I've found my home in romance--or perhaps it's better to say simply "love stories." I have a yen to try other genres, too, at some point, but for now my muse wants to tell stories about lovers and families.

I write for the joy of it, and I write stories that I want to read. If others like them, too, that's just the cherry on top. I’m not interested in rules and formulae. I follow my muse and my characters and let them take me where they want to go, wherever that might be. I like big emotions, dark and light.

I like complicated characters with flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths, and I like each character’s strengths and weaknesses to be different from those of other characters. I’m much more concerned that my characters be interesting and diverse than that they be widely considered to be likable. I try to create people, not types.

Likewise, I want my stories each to be distinct from the others. Once I’ve told a story, I don’t want to tell it again. So even within a series, one of my books might be very different from the next. Some might be very dark, others equally mild.

That isn’t to say there aren’t trends and recurrences in my work. I’m drawn to certain themes and settings, and my muse has her favorite toys and tools. But I guard against those tendencies becoming a formula.

I love being back in Signal Bend with the Night Horde.

He did not fuck chicks off the roster, he reminded himself. But there wasn’t any harm in looking.

Joseph “Havoc” Mariano is an enforcer for the Night Horde MC. He’s a punch first, think maybe kind of guy, a man of action.

I liked Cory, she had a tough enough life and was doing the best she could.
And he had a tendency to say things like “calm your tits” and “don’t get your thong all twisted up.” Truly, he was a delight.

They didn’t exactly hit it off when first they met.

She poured a red into a Bordeaux glass (Jesus Christ, it still hurt him a little, deep inside, that he knew the different kinds of wine glasses)

”You piss me the fuck off. You’re a mouthy little bitch”

“Likewise, you’re a rude asshole.”

Liked that Cory could stand up for herself and didn’t take any shite from Havoc.

Later when she dressed and left to go back to Nolan, he lay alone in the bed and tried to unsnarl the knot she’d made inside him. He needed to understand.

Havoc didn’t want to love, he didn’t know how to love. He had a strict father, growing up and was not shown much love and affection when he was younger.

I loved how Cory was with her son, Nolan. A no-nonsense mom who loved her child unconditionally. Of course it was great to see Isaac again.

When they let their guards down, that spark explodes into a blaze.

Then around 75% we had a serious moment.

Was not expecting that to happen….

While Cory learns to trust Havoc, and Havoc grapples with a major shift in his priorities and outlook on life, the period of legitimacy and peace comes to an end for the Horde.

Roll on the next book!

I adored Havoc's story, while Cory frustrated me at times, I captivated by this story. Havoc's character pulled my interest from the start, he only sees woman as an object and tends to blame them for most of the bad situations the Horde has been plagued with, but all that is about to change.

"Chicks. Fucking chicks ruined every damn thing."

Havoc and Cory don't get off to a great start, he is an asshole and she refuses to put up with his shit. Cory is a single mom, musician and a free spirit. She struggles to make ends meet and care for her 15 year old son, Nolan. And while she tries to resist Havoc, she finds herself thinking about him more and more.

He was a fuck ‘em and forget ‘em kind of guy. She was not that kind of woman.

These two soon find themselves unable to resist each other, finally acting on their attraction. Priorities change and Havoc struggles to deal with the changes in his life. Can Cory accept the biker lifestyle and will Havoc change his ways? I loved watching Havoc grow, he has had a rough life, and gets dealt some pretty shitty hands, but he has such a sweet soul, hidden under that crude mouth and asshole exterior.

“I want to try. I’m gonna fuck it up, or it’s gonna fuck me up, but it’s like I don’t have a choice.”

The first 40% or so, was a bit slow moving, but once things pick up, I was hooked to my kindle. So much happens, I was on the edge of my seat. All the Sky was a great addition to the series. I was sad to see it end.

Havoc is sporting a shaved head, a beard and a very ripped and tattooed body. Right from the beginning he manifested what a real sexist and jerk he is. He did change somewhat over the course of time, but I didn’t quite buy the “I can be sweet.” What I liked best about him was his hotness factor which was pretty high and, of course, I really loved the interaction between him and Nolan. These two really hit it off and I was happy for Nolan that he found a father figure. I could practically see how he thrived and bloomed when he got Havoc’s attention. Havoc, however, was very uptight when it came to love, relationships and commitment. In fact, intimacy scared the heck out of him. Due to his upbringing it didn’t come as a surprise, though. It goes without saying And I can’t help feeling a grudge against

A three-star rating means that I liked the book but didn't love it. I think that Havoc and Cory can’t hold a candle to Isaac and Lilli. In my opinion All the Sky lacked depth, gripping and real emotion. By the way, drama doesn’t necessarily equal emotion, at least not to me. Another issue of mine was the plot itself as well as the writing which felt very disjointed. Nothing really flowed smoothly and the plot was all over the place at times. Plus, I wasn’t particularly fond of Cory either. Aside from love, kids need stability in their lives. Being a parent means that we should be a good role model and I think Cory could have tried harder to hold a job longer than a couple months. When she went mental I was like “Daf@ck? What was that?" As always it would have been very nice to think first and act later. I honestly don’t know what’s so difficult about having a reasonable conversation instead of going apeshit in no time flat. Also, her parenting skills are lacking. What parent lets their kid unattended wander around in the dark for hours?? It’s very careless as well as dangerous and

All the Sky is by no means a bad read because it did entertain me, yet it’s not up to par with the previous books in the Signal Bend series. I hope that Len's story will appeal more to me.

My ranking
In Dark Woods 4.5 stars
Move the Sun 4 stars
Behold the Stars 3.75 stars
Into the Storm 3.5 stars
All the Sky 3 stars

Warning
All the Sky contains explicit sex and violence. One particular scene was pretty gruesome.

5 Calm Before the Storm, Families/Clubs, Realities of Life
* * * * * Spoiler Free
We all see things through our own type of lens...how we were raised; how we took this information and applied it to our history and lives... they all are colored through that lens. It can make things pretty... or mistrustful or just downright ugly...

Susan Fanetti's talent, in my opinion, is the lens we see her tales through.....it is Crystal Fucking Clear. There is no glamorization of Club life or the people she presents. Every moment is there for the taking...for us to experience as it happens with no justifications...nothing to pretty it up. Because this life may have a sense of freedom and romance about it in theory...but in practice...there is no safety.

I felt this was an extremely strong installment because so many issues were discussed while the saga of Signal Bend continued. The artistry of having the ability to have this core of the club and the way it strings other pieces in and around it seamlessly...always going back to how this is the club and club life...with the stories intertwined, embellishing it, decorating it but never losing the core's focus, is the gift.

Fanetti used the contrast of families, how to mother, how to love unconditionally without the use of violence and to be open to others as her tool to open Havoc's eyes and then heart.
Corrine became the highway for him to choose; he just needed to figure out how to travel it...how to maneuver because it was like something alien to him. His attraction to her; his overwhelming need was frightening. It made him question everything...the only thing which made him a little comfortable during all of this was Corrine's son Nathan. The love and bond he had with Bart were sorely missed; Havoc's careful friendship started to fill that hole.

The character Havoc always saw things his way...distrusted other ways and through this book, we get to be there with him when he recognizes everything he thought about connecting with women and the concept of love was wrong. When he gets it, he gets it something fierce.

The scenes between Corrine and Havoc had a base level of intensity which was feral and brutal; but then could be tender...they need to be read. The internal thoughts of Havoc were so powerful it was if the dawning of things could light up an arena...that is how bright the light was when he got it.

I am at a loss to talk about all I would like regarding this installment.
It is jammed pack with discoveries, emotions, understanding of what is really important, and ramifications of actions.

This has strong character development with Corrine and her son Nolan. They have one of the best mother/son relationships I've read. The respect and understanding she had for her boy, the feelings of wanting him to be who he needed to be...no matter what...and how she gave him a safe place to talk with her always, hit me as a mother of two grown sons.

So here is the deal, we have all of this character development and then we continue with the core focus too, of the Horde...where are they going, what is the next thing... and how will all of it affect the town.

As you can see, I loved this book. I was supposed to be good...I was supposed to pace myself so I could buddy read with my friends but I admit I could not overcome my desires and need to read this book from cover to cover.

I am still reeling... Susan Fanetti has continued to defy the odds... she knows her people, their world and she hasn't faltered yet.

Another installment is coming... is it May 24th yet????

I've been a huge fan of this series since the moment I read the first book and even though I've loved all the sexy members of this MC Club, Isaac have been my main guy, but after meeting Havoc I think I might've found my new King. Havoc was even more of an Alpha/Cave Man than any other character ever, making him completely irresistible.

Cory was sassy and awesome, I loved her relationship with her son Nolan and how patience and understanding she was to Havoc's antics. I thought they were perfect for each other.

The more I read this books the more I fall in love with Susan Fanetti's writing style, she always has something new and exciting for her readers in each book. I will continue to read on through all her novels, because she has become one of my go-to authors.

I highly recommend this book to all fans of MC stories.

May 2020 - There's just something (everything!) about this book that gets me every single time.

Re-read (as a series) August 2017 - All the Sky remains my favorite Signal Bend book. These characters have stayed with me for years since I've first met them and reading them again deepened my appreciation and adoration of them. I don't know what it is about this book because there are some very dark events that happen but the juxtaposition of that darkness against the stark reality and reminder that there can be light after darkness is so pivotal in this story. Fanetti's writing here is so crisp and full of theme and foreshadowing, it's a reader's dream. I'd love to pick apart each and every part of All the Sky just for the nerdy fun of it but I'll spare you. Just read this series!

5++++ "It was crazy." Stars

Susan Fanetti gifted us with yet another Signal Bend masterpiece. This author leaves nothing out of her stories. Stealing you from the mundane, thrusting you into Signal Bend she controls your emotions with poignant words, settings, and plot, gives you strength to believe in her charismatic characters, and shocks the ever-loving life out of you (more than once) ultimately to leave us reeling and needing to stay rooted in the throes of the Night Horde MC. These books in no way portray a life of glitz and happily ever after. Signal Bend feels real, as if I can jump in the car, drive to Missouri and I’ll find a once struggling town with people who face these challenges under the rule of an unconventional leader. The fact that it’s so relatable and real provides a true testament to the great talent of this author. The overall tones affects us with a grim, gritty, dreary disposition of this world; even in the happily ever after comes the ultimate of tests. The writing and tone leaves an unforgettable and lasting impression.

The main characters in this installment are Havoc, Cory, and Cory’s son – Nolan. The dynamic of this trio provides such an intense and unique contrast to the other stories in this series giving a new appreciation and deeper connection to the series. All of the secondary characters to this story, mainly the Horde but especially Isaac remind us of the sense of leadership and family; the fondness to this place and these people remains true; the fluidity of that aspect never waivers.

Cory and Havoc really stand out and shine through Nolan’s influence. There is something inherently beautiful about the relationships between Nolan and each of them. He’s a charismatic, mature, soulful teenager who’s finding his place in the world. Cory, by society’s standards, provides unconventional parenting and Hav way more so than she. But the beauty in that, bucking the system, speaks volumes of the character in all of them. It’s also provides a great metaphor for the entire book since MC’s tend buck the system themselves. Brilliant, right?

What I love a lot about Ms. Fanetti’s writing are the choices she makes for heroines. These are not light and fluffy women. They’re hardened, strong, and completely true to themselves even if they’re battling inner demons. This stands true for Cory. She finds something in Havoc, that wasn’t there before; she draws it from him, and then stands by him withstanding the storm. Her implicit trust forms an unbreakable, lasting bond with her son that I found so perfect. In a very different way than how Hav understands families, Cory & Nolan thrive as a family.

Thus, Havoc proved to be a very special character to me; his journey unforgettable. He could very well possibly be my favorite of Horde MC thus far. Hav’s a tortured character, a bit broken, and emotionally fragile. A tortured hero makes the best hero. Fundamentally though, he’s very deep and thoughtful. There are tender moments where the juxtapositions he draws between life and death are quite profound. He craves simplicity and emotion at its basest form – thus making it all the rawer when his control starts to slip. He’s at his best when he’s sharing himself with Nolan who provided a catalyst to allow him and Havoc something they both desperately needed: a real connection with someone who understands the person they are. Then Cory catapults into his life, a wrecking ball that destroys everything he’s ever understood about love. Hav’s right in a way when he says “chicks ruin everything” because Cory sure ruined his air tight philosophy.

Havoc intrigues me, almost ethereally. I’m slightly obsessed. And, their story became a sort of Beauty and the Beast tale. Strip this feral beast of his control and the most tender vulnerability and love shines. He becomes a protective beast and the intensity of this shift alters lives.

This author knows her characters, she knows what and whom they need, and she believes in each and every of them. She’s proves it to us with each book because she makes believers out of her readers too. The descriptive settings provide a daunting visual. The plot, especially with the introduction of the cartel maintains, shocks, and appeases. And these characters, beautifully flawed and engaging, are why I love to read. All The Sky further solidifies my position as a Susan Fanetti fan for life. I cannot wait to get back to Signal Bend for Len’s story. Something wicked this way comes to Signal Bend, can they endure? Since Ms. Fanetti shocks me every time, I haven’t the foggiest idea, but I’m extremely excited to find out.

Favorite Quotes:
“You realize that what you just said is the exact opposite of what every other adult has ever said about sex to any other teenager in the history of the world, right?” Havoc grinned and put the bottle to his mouth. Before he drank, he said, “And see how fucked up the world is?”

“Nope I like meat. I can’t afford organic. And I’m too busy saving my kid and myself. The whales are gonna have to take care of their own shit.”

“Tell me to fucking go, then, and I’ll stay away. But I’m not always gonna ask. I’m not. I got no idea what we’re doing, but whatever it is, it’s not just on your terms. No fucking way. I’m not a hearts and flowers guy. That’s what you want, then I’ll go and let you look for him. But if you don’t tell me to go right here and now, then you’re mine.”

This is book five of Susan Fanetti's MC series, and I have just finished with a feeling of how much I love the town of Signal Bend! It may be dark, gritty, and extremely rough; but it has some very loyal, protective, and handsome alpha males..and I am all for that! Let's just say that the men make up for how dark it can get in this town!

This was Havoc's book, and the first half of the book, I found that I wasn't very connected to him and his heroine; Cory. I didn't feel Cory was the kind of mother that I could understand..she was a little on the irresponsible side for my liking. (I mean who lets their 15 year old son walk around in the middle of the night?)Then Havoc, gave a new definition to the term "Alpha Male!" Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Alphas..and a lot of times the darker the better; but at times he was just plain crude and had not very much respect for women. The thing that I find though, is that the worse the man is; the harder he seems to fall-when he does choose a woman of his own. In Havoc's case, I must say that he redeemed himself in a big way to me! So, in saying that..the second half of the book became much more like the series that I know and love.

Lots to place in the last half of "All the Sky," some of it was sexy and gooshy, others of it were gut wrenching awful. This is what you get when you read about the town of Signal Bend, and Susan Fantetti once again does not disappoint! The sex between Havoc and Cory was scorching hot! I mean it.. There was nothing sweet and sappy about it! It was dark and primal, and I was enjoying every word of it! In fact, there were times I got butterflies from it!!! LOL It was THAT GOOD! I also loved how Havoc always seemed to become surprised when he began to feel love for his woman. It was charming almost!!! It does kind of seem wrong to say that Havoc was "charming"; however sometimes he just came across that way!
I still never really fell in love with Cory..she was just an "ok" character for me. I loved her son Nolan though, and I really hope that he has more spotlights put on him in books to come! I am almost scared to hope that, as you never know who is going to survive and who isn't. No one is safe in this town, and I will admit that I am terrified to read the next book! I hear it is a heavy one!

This is a series that I highly recommend to any reader out there who likes a little bit of dark to their stories. It isn't all pretty; but the bumpy ride is definitely worth it. The end result is almost always satisfying, and when you pick up one of these books it is mostly never boring or predictable!

3.5--Fuck You--Stars!

Between Havoc and Cory, I think they said "Fuck You" to each other somewhere around 30 times....if my calculations are correct.

Honestly, I just wasn't feeling the love between Havoc and Cory. I know a lot of people like a good asshole, and I found Havoc to be one but it just wasn't working for me.

This one did pick up for me towards the end.

There was some definite twists and turns that I didn't see coming, especially what went down with .

It also appears that there is definitely SOMETHING in the Signal Bend water.

IDK...just didn't love this one. The storyline and MCs just didn't grab me for some reason. I didn't connect with them like I have some of the others. Still my favorite MC series out there, but this was my least favorite couple.

With each book in the Signal Bend series Susan Fanetti gives us some pretty amazing characters. In this installment we have Havoc, Cory and Nolan. The challenges they faced, the things that defined them and the vulnerability of each of them struck me in a way I didn’t expect.

Havoc proved to be a character that will be hard to forget. He doesn’t make it easy for you to love him. He has a hardness and abrasiveness about himself that if you’re not willing to look beyond it, you won’t see what lies beneath. Underneath is someone who is compassionate, genuine and fearless.

While growing up, Havoc had all the material necessities that a family needs. A warm home, family dinners, a sister he adored and caring parents. But Havoc comes to realize that parental love comes in many different ways.

Cory has such a beautiful soul. Though she had been handed some pretty crappy cards in life she stayed strong. She stayed true to herself. And at the center of her beauty and strength was the unconditional love that she had for her son Nolan. Nolan snatched a big piece of my heart. Things were not always easy for him. But through it all he always loved his mom. He always had faith in her. And he protected her with everything he had.

Cory and Nolan’s relationship may have been considered by some as “unconventional” but it was genuine. Though they were judged for the way they lived, it didn’t change who they were. Cory’s love and trust for her son created a bond that no one could break.

It doesn’t take long before these three lives become tangled in ways that none of them expected. The affect that Cory has on Havoc is unsettling to him. He begins to lose his control and he starts to see life and love differently. He now wants things that he never wanted before. He and Nolan share a bond that allows them to connect on the simplest level. Each of them accepting the other for who they are, nothing more, nothing less. Cory had trouble understanding her feelings and desire for Havoc. But things begin to change for her, she realizes she needs him, she wants him, and she loved having him in their lives.

I don’t want to say much about the plot because I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that in the last 40% of the book A LOT happens. We get grit, angst and heartache. Havoc, Cory and Nolan fight for their happiness, their family.

Susan Fanetti continues to write pretty amazing stories. This series is just so good!! I cannot wait for the next book when we get Len’s story.

A thought occurred to her, and she cocked her head and smiled, making it as coy as she could. “ I think we could….if you can be sweet. Can you be sweet?” “I can be what you need me to be, honey.”

"Chicks ruin everything..."

That was Havoc's motto from day one... Until a feisty hippie chick blew into Signal Bend. A chick by that name of Cory. He doesn't know what hit him.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Cory, single mother to a 15-year old son, Nolan, hasn't had the easiest life. Her ex husband is a cheat, leaving her with nothing but an STD, she stumbles from job to job almost a self fulfilling prophecy of failure. When a spot opens up for her to sing her folksy style music in a new wine bar in town, she see's potential... A chance to make it on her own. Unfortunately, the bar is owned by the Horde MC and the part owner/manager is an asshole with a capital A. He's arrogant, male chauvinistic and she tries with all her patience not to quit this gig due to him. She has a mouth to feed, a roof to get over her head.

Havoc has always been the untamed of the Horde crew. He's the first to inflict pain, even death, when the club needs it. He likes his chicks carry out. Club whores, on their knees, from behind, never kissing and always kicked out the door when he's through. But the new girl singing in the wine bar really gets his hackles up. He's abrupt, rude, and they really don't like each other. They banter...she doesn't back down...and he doesn't know what it is about her but he wants her but...he doesn't fuck people on the roster. End of.

"When I met you, I'd've bet big money you were one of those vegetarians."
She swallowed, "Why?"
"Don't know. You dress like a hippie. You sing hippie music. Figured you were one- eatin' organic, savin'' the whales, whatever."
"Nope, I like meat. I can't afford organic. And I'm too busy saving my kid and myself. The whales are gonna have to take care of their own shit."

I just have to say...I love you Susan Fanetti. This is, by far, the best MC series out there. If you haven't picked it up, you are missing out. We have started at ground zero with the Horde crew. She's perfect at moving their stories along but including all the members in each and every book as we go. I feel like family...we know these guys. They're tough, crass, outlaws...and the most endearing set of biker hotness out there.

I didn't think Susan could outshine Show's book for me but...sorry Show, there's a new tortured alpha biker that tops my list (although Show is a close second). Havoc is just... emotionally animalistic. He's had his way of treating women, of living his life for 38 years, and it takes one single mom with a great 15 year old kid to rock his world. I'm not going to give a lot away as I think his story needs to be experienced instead of told.

Was Cory a perfect mom? No. She had a lot of pressure trying to raise a foul-mouthed kid that just needed acceptance in his life. I loved Nolan. He wasn't perfect, be he too was a result of a lifetime of letdowns by everyone but his mom.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Why do I love Susan Fanetti's Signal Bend series? Let me count the ways...

1- Characters are tough, gritty, but deep down likeable and loyal to the core. We've grown to know each and every member and continue to follow their lives from book to book. That is a great gift she gives her readers...a sense of family...familiarity with each book we pick up.

2- Her heroines are kickass. They're tough and do not balk to pressure. And I love a woman that can bring a man to his knees. Every old lady has brought her man to his knees...love that.

3- Susan never fails to shock me. She's a sadist, I tell ya. Her books always have a suspense side storyline to the love story that ultimately ensues. But she isn't afraid to shock you in repulsive and not so pretty "wrapped up in a bow" ways. We are talking about an outlaw motorcycle club here...not Boy Scouts. And she proceeded to kill me in Havoc's book in that respect.

4- The chemistry, build up, sex scenes are FUCKHOT. Thank you, enough said there...

5- I finish each of her books crying out for the next. No, there's never a cliffy. Each book is a different character but you know that character a bit prior to going in. Like the next book is Len...Len has a propensity for menage....did I mention FUCKHOT?

6- Her biker voice is perfection. I see her guys. I hear her guys. Her characters are crystal clear in my head. I rarely have to sit and try to remember who this guy was or that guy was. I remember them because I'm emotionally attached to their stories.

So, there you have it. A fantastic read. A perfectly imperfect hero that finds the perfectly imperfect heroine to bring him to his knees.

Looking forward to Len on May 24, 2014

And I thank you!

5 Chicks, Havoc & MCs Stars

Love is more thicker than forget...

description

Real love bring the sky down to you and leaves a star for safekeeping near your heart. Turns your world upside down and brings you the chick that you didn't realise you were dreaming about. That's right Havoc, our favourite badass, clueless biker, falls in love and with a hippie at that!

"I like my chicks carry out."

Joseph "Havoc" Mariano is the brawn of the Night Horde MC. A punch and no second thought kinda guy. He has witnessed his Club brought to its knees. His brothers fell in love and built families. His town came alive again. But despite all that, he is feeling alone and abandoned. Never has he ever felt loved. Only the firm hand of his father judgement. Love is out of his comprehension.

description

And then comes along Cory. An artist, a singer, a bar manager and above all a mother. Of a 15-year old boy that she takes care of all by herself. Struggling to make ends meet and provide for her child, Cory hasn't got the time for romances and jerks bikers. But Hav is irresistible when he sets his eyes on something. Can they build a relationship around the Club and the dangers that are knocking on their doors once again? Love goes hand in hand with trust and this is something not easily earned. When tragedy strikes again and again, bonds will be tested and only real love will weather the storm. And will manage to forgive all the betrayals.

"Tell me to fucking go, then, and I'll stay away. But I'm not always gonna ask. I'm not. I got no idea what we're doing, but whatever it is, it's just not on your terms. No fucking way. I'm not a hearts and flowers guy. That's what you want, then I'll go and let you look for him, But if you don't tell me to go right here and now, then you are mine."

description

I am totally amazed at Susan Fanetti's ability to take a hot mess of a plot and make it even hotter and messier than we could ever imagine. A wild ride; utterly beautiful and devastatingly real. Unapologizing, fierce and gut-wrenching. From closed caskets to sledgehammers, runs and blood, to family, brothers and love. More love than I, that I have lived a fairly sheltered life, can comprehend. Because we are talking about the kind that has been forged in fire and strengthened. The kind of love that leaves a weak person trembling in fear and steals the breath out of the brave.

description

Our favourite MC is no longer at crossroads. Once again they picked the rocky road, where heartbreak and danger awaits. They took hits. They are mending together and they have one hell of a fight in front of them. For their town. Their families. Their Club.

4 Wrecking Havoc Stars!

I can't believe it took me over 3 days to read this! I love the Horde and this series is fabulous, but I'm so book hangover that it didn't consume me as the previous books!

I admit that Havoc is not my fave MC male. Cory however is amazeballs! She has a fabulous language and demeanor that has alot of F*** yous! lol! Good for her because Havoc deserves all if them. Her kid Nolan is top notch also.

Since "chick's ruin everything" is his life motto this tortured love tale takes a long windy and well, a violent path. A Sledgehammer? really? wow....

Hey to each their own! I can honestly say that I am terrified to go on to book 6...while I don't mind the violence that is quite horrific and the romance that is tortured...I don't know if I can handle a major heartbreak that is bound to happen...things are too calm in Signal bend!

My favourite couple, my favourite characters and my favourite love story from this series and the SoCal series and also the Brazen Bulls series. I think this is my favourite Susan Fanetti book (I still have a lot of her backlist to go through, but I read a good chunk of it and I don’t think anyone can surpass the love I have for this book).

Review to come..

I’ve always claimed that I’m not a big fan of MC (Motorcycle Club) books, but hot dang if I’m not utterly in love with the Signal Bend series. All the Sky is the fifth book in the series, and I was happy to be reunited with the Night Horde bikers.

Havoc has always been one scary, badass mo-fo. He’s the guy who’s not remotely squeamish about getting his hands dirty for club business. Violence is right up his alley, and he has no hesitation about fighting, torturing, or killing. The guy never gave me the warm fuzzies, so I wasn’t terribly excited to read his story, let alone try to view him in a romantic light.

Here’s what’s brilliant about Susan Fanetti’s writing. She doesn’t sugar coat anything. Havoc is not a nice man, and he readily admits as much. He doesn’t look for assurances that he’s anything but the sexist, rude, selfish, cruel, volatile, Neanderthal that he absolutely is. Attractive, right? Somehow, though, Fanetti created a soft spot in my heart for Havoc without turning him into a saint. I grew really fond of him.

Cory, a single mom, and Nolan, her teenage son, are absolutely amazing. Cory is stubborn and more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Havoc. The fire between the two of them is consuming and addictive. I really admired Cory’s independence and resilience. I’m hoping we haven’t seen the last of Nolan. The sensitive, artistic, gaming geek could have a lot to offer the series down the line.

This book—heck, this entire series—is not for the fainthearted. There’s graphic violence, foul language, and suspense in spades. Like I said, it’s not typically my bag, baby, so I still can’t believe how much I like it. I more than liked this engaging story. I loved it. I guess I’d better stock up on some Tums, have my Xanax on standby, and then be on my merry way to the next book.

Susan Fanetti did it again. She make me fall hard for every single hero she wrote for Signal Bend series. The last three heroes were all instantly likable, but this time she gave us a hotheaded asshole. He might not be everyone cup of tea and he did some awful things, but I love his story nonetheless.

Even though Havoc is a sexist jerk with a short fuse, had awful manners and blatantly disrespect women in general, I can't help but fall in love with him. I might even like him more than Show. Crazy, I know.

Fucking chicks ruined every damn thing.

Above is Havoc's mantra. To him, every bad things that happened in Signal Bend for the last four years were caused by women. I agree with him, people since the beginning of time went to war for chicks for Godsake.

Havoc is often restless, spoiling for a fight and having a hard time coming to terms with Isaac new lifestyle, which is more family-friendly. I don't think he was being disrespectful or against Isaac in any way. He was just bore to death by the mundane work and all the peace and quiet. He signed up to be a badass outlaw biker, not a wine bar manager and having to visit a winery! It kind of affected his manhood.

Corrine is a single mum with a 15 year old son, Nolan. She had a gig in Havoc's bar and both of them were often at odds with each other. He flipped her off during one of their early encounter. Real classy, Havoc.

"You really are an asshole."
"Oh, yeah. Been perfecting that for thirty-eight years."

One of the best part of the book is Havoc's friendship with Nolan. Although he is such an asshole all the time, he is really kind and caring towards Nolan. This soften Cory's feeling towards him as well. The boy reminded him of Bart so much. I never thought Havoc and Bart were so tight that he misses him dearly. I kind of break my heart seeing Havoc feeling so lonely.

There is nothing insta with Havoc and Cory, maybe insta-hate. Anyway, Havoc never tap pussy that works for him, so he avoid Cory when he started having weird feelings to her. But you know, he can't resist temptation for long and the infuriating woman just drove him mad.

"He really is a caveman, isn't he?"
"He's not even that evolved. What came before caveman?"

I like the way Susan handle Havoc's character. She manage to balance the jerk, vulnerable and loving man into Havoc. He did not just change into a someone pussy-whipped just because he found his one true love. I love he remain some jerk part, it make him stands out among the others.

For example, he consider having a pussy during one of his run as not cheating. Is he for real? I don't how he draw the geographical limit. Thank God he didn't actually do it because he found out having phone sex with Cory much more interesting. Aww...

One of the most memorable scene for me was when he said,

"Ride with me, Cory."

I'm a total goner by then.

I like every aspect of their romance maybe except the part when they argue there were too much 'fuck you' flying around. I was a little anxious when Cory felt that Havoc is not being a good role model for Nolan and she worried about her family safety, but later on she did came around.

Let talk about the club business. Isaac was getting a new deal of running weeds across town. Money is money, right? I bet he is collecting college funds now. Danger is imminent and I just knew bad things gonna happened.

Havoc became messed up when someone dear to him was targeted. Oh, my heart break all over again. I forgot how many tears I had shed for this series. Hey, this is supposed to be a badass biker story, why are we always crying around? Awful things happened and Havoc is having a hard time coping. Will his relationship with Cory manage to withstand all this pressure?

Chicks did - they ruined everything. But now he wanted to keep it ruined.

Overall, this is another great addition to the best MC series I've ever read. I can't believe we only have two more books to go before the series ended. Susan manage to include all the previous casts for us to catch up on without overshadowing the main couple in this book. As her usual style, she manage to give us the violence, the harsh shocker and tender loving romance, this time with an infuriating hero and a forgiving heroine.

Havoc's life was brighter and bigger and freer than he'd ever thought it could be, like a long, open road canopied by an infinite sky.

All the Sky was yet another strong chapter in the Signal Bend series, and I liked it a lot. I don’t feel like I can contribute anything new, really, to all the wonderful reviews that have already been written, so I’m not going to try. I’m just going to put on my big girl panties and move on to the 6th book. Speaking for myself- it’s so easy to want and/or expect this type of story to have a somewhat happy ending after the angst, and while there are certainly many good things that do happen and loving relationships that form, etc.- there are the real and ugly aspects that have to be dealt with as well. My fear in moving forward is that the ugly and real will outweigh the happy.

***3.5 Too Rough for Me Stars***

This is truly one of those instances where I wish Goodreads had half stars. I tend to use their rating system for my books. Was it 3 stars (I liked it)? Yes. Was it a 4 star (I really liked it)? No.

There are already lots of reviews out there for this book, so me and Britney are just going to share our rambling thoughts and facial expressions.

I've been interested in Havoc since the beginning, but especially when I saw a different side to him in Bart's book. He was the asshole enforcer in the Horde and I couldn't wait to see what would happen when he eventually met the woman that would crack him.

"Chicks. Fucking chicks ruined every damn thing."

When Havoc meets Cory, she was definitely not one to buckle under his surly exterior and I felt like we'd have some great head-butting coming our way.

"Corinne. Cory to my friends. You can stick with Corinne."

"What?"

"My name. I don't know what culture uses snaps and hand signals like that for language, but it's not English, and I don't understand it. My name is Corrine. Which you've heard several times. Did you experience some kind of head trauma as a child?"

Havoc wasn't sure what the fuck he was feeling, but he was intrigued by Cory, and in his aggressive way, he makes his move. No wooing biker here folks....but she stands her ground.

"I think it falls in your lap so much, you don't know how to work for it."

Cory isn't some club whore, she works at the club's wine bar and incidentally for Havoc. She's a mom struggling to make ends meet and she doesn't need any additional instability in her life. Her and her 15 year old son Nolan are barely making it day to day, and although she knows she should stay away from Havoc, she also finds herself intrigued by this rough and tumble biker.

Havoc happens to strike up a friendship with Nolan, who reminds him a lot of Bart, and through Cory's observations of him and Nolan, she starts to see more to the surly biker. After a lot of back and forth, the two finally get together and a whole lot of what the fuck starts for me.

These two are NOT gentle. They are not sweet. There are no soft caresses or hot foreplay. It is aggression, and need, and desire and attack. And even though I love me a good asshole, I need at least a smidge of something softer. Don't get me wrong....there's nothing wrong with being pounded into the mattress, but I didn't get much of a gentler side with these two. And even this smut slut was busting out an uncomfortable WHOA every once in a while.

A little rough bruising. Hey, it happens.

Fiery, stinging ass slapping. People get carried away in the moment and like a raw and chafed ass. Who cares if you can't sit for a few days.

Other times I down right crossed my legs and thought that Cory was going to have to ice down afterwards in order to be able to walk again.

I found a lot of their relationship confusing because of this. It's almost like as much as they cared for each other, they also at times brought out the worst in each other. A whole lot of FUCK YOU's were thrown around...constantly. It was their way...and frankly it felt a bit too volatile for my tastes.

"Her general tendency when she was hurt or offended was to speak up for herself then withdraw. With Havoc, she hung in, and it made her...well, violent, sort of. When he locked his feet down on something important, she often found herself pushing and hitting him, yelling like a madwoman. And of course, big brute that he was, he just stood there and took it, until he found his in to take her over."

So a mixed bag of feelings for me when it comes to these two. However, I did like seeing Havoc open up, to have someone to lay his head down next to, to finally realize how lonely he's been.

"Chicks did - they ruined everything. But now he wanted to keep it ruined."

And I'm not even going to touch on either of their families. The rationalization of Havoc's parents.....PUHLEASE!!! And Cory's sister and brother in law should have been swallowed at conception!

Horde business has heated up again, and the crew is not so sure they've made the right decision with their future. Add in an ugly surprise from a blast from the past and I have NO IDEA what I'm in store for in the next two books. I'm nervous, anxious and have down right broken a sweat thinking of what may be down the road.

And with that, Britney and I are off to find out what's in store for Len.

4.5 stars!

I don't know how she did it but Susan Fanettii got me to fall head over heels in love with Havoc. This story was so damn good I honestly wasn't really expecting to like it that much.

Havoc is a total and complete, 100% asshole. He knows it, woman know it, the whole town knows it and he could give two f*cks what they think about him Woman are here for one thing only: sex. He doesn't talk to them unless it's to tell them to get on their knees and anyone who puts a woman before the club is a moron in his eyes. He's a hard, dark character. But despite the fact that it took me a little warming to like him I wouldn't want him any other way. I love that the author didn't just use the whole "asshole" vibe in the beginning and then the moment he finds love, it's gone. Even with love in his life, he's still an asshole. But he's a lovable asshole, at least in my eyes.

Cory hasn't had the easiest of time in her life but you'll never once hear here complaining. She takes each punch life gives her in stride and just keeps pushing forward. As long as she can have her music and take care of her son, she'll be okay. I love how laid-back and chill she was, and the fact that she got so fired up and a tad bit violent when she was around Havoc. People think she's never really tried to be anything more in her life and maybe it's true but Cory just wants to live.

Havoc and Cory's first meeting doesn't go well at all but it's juts the beginning of a beautiful relationship. But they need each other, in ways they are only beginning to understand. Both of their past hurt my heart but especially Havoc's. Getting to peel back the layers of who he is and how he became who he is just made me want to hug him so tight. He's truly the perfect example of how even a cold, hard man can love with everything he has.

It's always hard for me to write reviews of series, even when they're stand-alones because I'm scared I'll give away important plot twist. But honestly, I'm a little scared to continue on with the series. Things are turning dark over at Signal Bend and I know something bad is going to happen to my favorite MC. I kind of want to live in my happy bubble of ignorance right now because I have a feeling this next book will slay me.

But don't let that scare you! Seriously, read this series and definitely read this book! Havoc just may be my favorite of the series (right after Isaac and Show of course).

All the Sky is the 5th book in the Signal Bend Series. I have become completely engrossed by this series. Each book has been unique. Every single Horde Motorcycle Club Member is interesting in their own way. All the Sky is Havoc and Cory's story.

description

Havoc is bitter, broken down, and a complete ass! He loves to drink and screw. He is filthy mouthed, opinionated, and not afraid to use his hands to get things done around the club. He is especially bitter towards woman. (Particularly Lilli, Shannon, and Riley.) Those three are the trifecta of evil in his mind. They have torn up the club by seducing his brothers. Now they are popping out babies and instead of partying up at the club they have hi brothers spending family time together away from the club.

"Chicks ruined everything. He saw it everywhere. Isaac shot. Show’s daughter dead. Brothers meeting their Maker. Bart. Bart in Los Angeles, a Scorpion instead of Horde. It was an outrage. And then today, in smaller but still significant ways. Isaac pushing a goddamn stroller, going back to the motel before it was even dark."

If all of that isn't bad enough, he has been left to manage the guppy wine bar in town! It is obvious that Havoc isn' t happy with how things are going with the Horde. His whole world is about to be pulled off of it's axis.

description

Cory is a performer at the wine bar that Havoc manages. There first meeting was far from love at first sight. Cory assesses Havoc to be the jack ass that he is. She also has a teenage son waiting for her so she has no time for men. Cory and her son are living with her judgmental sister and brother-in-law. Nolan (her son) is not thriving and despite her best efforts to stay afloat she feels she is drowning and loosing her son. Cory is a good mom who is struggling to raise her son.

"Her parenting style was pretty lax; for the most part, she let Nolan tell her what he needed, and she tried to be there to help him through the brambles without just hacking the brambles away. She picked her battles."

Cory manages to get a job bar tending at the wine bar. Even though she and Havoc haven't had the best start she needs the money.

As time passes, Havoc begins to form a friendship with Nolan. He becomes a mentor to him. Cory is wary of her son hanging at a motorcycle club but I think she is happy to see him flourishing so she lets it go. Cory is adopted into the Horde "circle of friends" and it is on a trip that Havoc begins to see Cory for something more. To Cory's surprise, Hav jokes with her and admits that he thought she was hippie vegetarian. Cory is one smart quick witted woman!

“Nope. I like meat. I can’t afford organic. And I’m too busy saving my kid and myself. The whales are gonna have to take care of their own shit.”

Through the banter and closeness, he makes a play for Cory. As soon as he does, everything changes.

description

“I told you. Sweet is good . Sweet can be better. I don’t think you know that.” Her hands were around his face, and it made his chest tight. He didn’t understand that, either. Coming here had not eased his confusion; he was more confused now than ever."

Cory gets under Hav's skin. He begins to transform from the broken angry man to a man that falls in love. He willingly gives his love to Cory and to her son Nolan. Hav doesn't even know how to comprehend the feelings that he has. Cory suspects the club is into some rough business but she still can't help loving Hav.

"And then he’d looked inward...terrified of what was happening between him and Cory, what it meant. Realization had dawned that he loved her. He loved them both. It was the thing he hadn’t understood , that had vexed him so much. Love. He hadn’t even recognized it. For a brief moment, that rising sun of understanding had felt good. Knowing how he felt, naming it. Knowing with a striking clarity what he wanted."

Just as Cory and Hav are beginning to make headway in their relationship they face a major set back. The event puts Havoc in a very dark place. Cory tries desperately to reach him but he is gone.

description

"Turning a back on family was not something these men cottoned to. But he ruined everything. So he stayed away."

It is Show, who convinces Hav to go back and make things right! (I just love that man!)

"But you need to be there if you want them as safe as can be. And you need them, too. It’s family we need. It’s family that gives us a reason to be decent, to do right. The rest of it— the cartel, the Scorps, all of that, it is what it is. It comes and goes."-Show

description

All the Sky is full of action, heartbreak, emotions, and some raw and gritty romance. I believe Susan Fanetti has constructed one of the best book series out there. Each character has distinct characteristics. Every plot twist has meaning and is crucial to the story. There is just enough tension to keep you engaged. There is violence and yet it is overshadowed by the heart and soul of these people. I was so moved by Havoc and his transformation. I am reminded that we are all works in progress. Who we are today doesn't dictate who we will be tomorrow. It is the people that are put in our lives that make all the difference.

Spoilers ahead

Sighhhhhhh I want to give 5 stars for the writing but 2 stars for the characters. Cory, from her sister's words and the initial lead up I felt I wouldn't like but she quickly turned that around by refusing to put up with Havoc's bs I loved her 1000%...until the sledgehammer incident. Even with the circumstances that s#@t was way too serious to be so easily forgiven. I lost my respect for her and as such just skimmed to the end.
Havoc now, hmmm I liked his relationship with Nolan and his confusion as to his feelings for Cory seemed genuinely confusing to him so I "got" him to a certain extent.... In the lead up to his relationship with Cory he continued sleeping with the club girls even after kissing Cory, though she had rebuffed him but still, up to the night before they had sex he had gotten a bj from one of the girls,we had one implied scene and one explicit scene with him and OW. Then a few times too many there was dubious consent with him and Cory, he was so accustomed to the club girls never saying no that he pushed hard at times, in addition to him being a controlling idiot i started to dislike him.....Then he came within a hairs breath of cheating, the woman was naked, face down and her tattoo stopped him smdh at that point I was over Havoc, I had planned to avoid the other book because of what happened but at this point, the way I feel about him I'll gladly read about it!
Again some seriously gruesome moments with the club once again seeming to be in for some trouble, I wanted Cory to bitc# slap her sis and brother in law but alas that never happened. I loved Nolan though.
I love this author's style, I wish she'd write a series with safety gang members in mind lol.

Basically I liked this book (well the second half anyway) but I didn’t love it.

There’s a lot of words I could use to describe Havoc (particularly in the first half). And none of them are good.

He did however redeem himself. And I loved how he was with Nolan.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Cory. I know this may sound harsh. But once you’re a mother your child comes first. I know she has a temper and she doesn’t want a regular boring desk job. But she’s responsible for a child. It really should be a no brainier.

That said I did warm to both Cory and Havoc an ended up enjoying this read. After a very bumpy beginning.

5 Sweet and Rough Stars

Susan Fanetti did it again. Another alluring story of a member Night Horde MC, Havoc Mariano. Havoc, as very tough, strong and man whore ,who believed that was not capable to love anyone but himself. He don't do relationship. Until he met Cory. Who messed up in his head. I love the development of relationship of the main character. Cory, a feisty, smart and sassy single mom heroine. I like how strong she is and positive towards life. She was so cool of everything. I like her son Nolan too, he's adorable but except for his foul mouth sometimes. The author knew how to make her reader cry. Nolan and Cory life was not easy.

"I told you. Sweet is good. Sweet can be better. I don't think you know that."
"Fuck you"
"Maybe.But sweet"
"Fuck sweet"

The Signal Bend was quite for a year, everyone lived peaceful, until from past came back for vengeance with strong alliance. Havoc was used to fight and missed to be in action. He don't know how to be sweet, and how to be in relationship. But with Cory, all became natural to him. I like Havoc sweet and funny and rough, though he is a real bad ass.

The story focused to Havoc and Cory. Last 35% was shocked for me. I thought the author now decided more romance than action. Though I find it odd, because since Havoc known as react first, think later. I expected more action in the story. I did enjoyed the book, but the ending, though it not cliffhanger, I think there should be more of it. Susan always ended her story with the opening of next one. And the next book, as excited as i am, because the hero is same my name. just saying.

2.5 - 3 CHICKS RUIN EVERYTHING STARS

It's so funny. Most of this series I've loved. The second book Behold the Stars and this book were a bit of a miss for me.

I liked Havoc, and I get from his background that he found it hard to connect with people and didn't want a relationship or family. He didn't have a really great example of it.

For Corinne, her background wasn't much better. Her sister and brother-in-law, felt like they were there only to antagonize her and us to make us like her more. She was fine, but I wasn't as invested in her as I was with Lilli, Shannon or Riley. She seemed to fall into love with Havoc way too easily and her sort of "wait and see" attitude with her kid and his involvement with the Horde was a little bizarre for me.

I also saw what was going to happen coming a mile away. I mean... COME ON! Haven't they learned anything yet. I get that Isaac needed to replenish his quaffers after his rehab, but there had to be a better way. Or at least someone had to think and direct Dom to what they should be looking out for. They know he's not Bart, and even Bart missed things. So someone should have been thinking of all the angels. They walked into what they ended up in so easily it was ridiculous.

I did like the part where Bart came back, even if it was partly his fault that things turned out the way they did.

I don't know guys. I love this series for the most part. It just feels like every couple of books she phones it in and follows a pattern for me. Oh well. We can't all love everything and I will continue to give the series a try as now I have to know how they are going to get themselves out of this predicament.

My favourite one so far. Wasn't sure how believable Havoc falling in love would be after his behaviour towards women in the last books, however it was so sweet and I saw him in a completely new light. He goes through a lot in this book and is deserving of his HEA.

Signal Bend is facing hard times ahead, I just hope they don't have to suffer many more losses. Can't wait for Len and Badger's stories.

DNF 47%.. Im a reader who loves spoilers... I don't want to get too invested in a book that has ultimately no hea. Havoc is just learning to love at this point... I now know the author gruesomely murders him in the next book after gruesomely murdering his sister in this book- her head is sent to the H. The writing is Fantastic but in this day and age there's enough evil irl.... I DNF books with no hea.

What an amazing series ... So glad there's more to come!

I really enjoyed Havoc & Cory's story ... it's beautiful & devastating and 100% perfectly told.

I think the best part of this book may have been Cory & Nolan's relationship. I love a terrific parent/child bond & theirs was wonderful. Nolan's character ... pretty awesome ... hope there's a possibility of him getting his own book ... I'd like his (all grown up) story.

But, consider yourself warned: this one is a tear-jerker ... or sob-fest ... you choose.

Now onto book 6!!!
