I thought that this book was very inspiring, but, in all honesty, It was not the most enjoyable; only because I do not particularily like poetry, and the topics of the poems were repetitive (Which is to be expected, considering the title of the book explains what all the poems are about). I enjoyed that the poems in this book had a variety of authors, which gave a different tone to all the poems, so they did not sounds exactly the same, although they were talking about the same topics. I found this book to be very encouraging and full of uplifting ideas. My favorite poem from this book is "As you press on toward your dreams, remember this" by Lindsay Newman.
Syrup for the soul. This collection of "poems" reads like a section of greeting cards from the pick-yourself-up aisle. They all offer good advice but they are schmaltzy. And probably not helpful for anyone past young adult. Good layout, however, with simple and pleasant color drawings.
The only reason that I read this is that it came in a group of books that I won at a raffle at a poetry convention.
This book is filled with repetitive poems, so don't expect originality but if you need a quick pick-me-up this'll do it. Other than that…the quality of the poems as far as poetry goes isn't that good.
