Watch first 3 minutes of Survivor 47 premiere (exclusive)

Survivor 47 will kick off Sept. 18 on CBS with a special two-hour premiere — but you don’t have to wait until then to start watching, because we’ve got the exclusive first three minutes for you right here and right now.

It has been a whirlwind of a Survivor preseason, with the cast reveal happening just two weeks before the premiere. Since then, we have learned about falsely perceived showmances, the Sweat vs. Savvy task having its torch snuffed, the fact that one player is not a massive Yul Kwon fan, and that we will see a battle between big dogs and underdogs. But now it’s time to actually start watching the dang thing!

And what will you see when you watch those exclusive first three minutes in the video above? Well, you’ll hear a lot of the usual stuff. You once again have people promising to do whatever it takes: In this case, Anika promising, “I'm going to play hard. I might get a little evil. Who knows?”

You have someone being self-deprecating right out of the gate: Witness Jon’s comment that “I'm sure that I have friends and family watching this right now, and I'm pretty confident that I know what they want for me out of this experience — they want me to suffer.”

And you have the omnipresent, overcoming adversity story, with Kyle explaining that, “Growing up, life was a struggle, man. I spent five years in foster care; over 26 different homes I lived in before I would graduate high school. I could have just flipped over and laid on my back.”

So how did Kyle overcome it? “Life dealt me the recipe for disaster, and I baked the f---ing brownie with it.” Okay! Bakery metaphors! Nice! We eat that stuff up around here!

But you didn’t come to a Survivor premiere for mere meet and greet quotes. You came for those amazingly picturesque slow-motion shots of players either screaming, caked in mud, emerging out of water, or all of the above… and they are in abundance. If you are a true Survivor fan, you also love super dramatic video footage of contestants on boats looking pensively off into the distance while pretending there is not a camera right in front of their face. AND IT’S ALL HERE!
