Season 2 Season 4

"Ship Happens" is the fourteenth episode of the third season of Eureka.

Synopsis[]

Confusion surrounds the process of returning the materials used to create the plasma generator. Meanwhile, Kim's clone may be the cause of bigger problems.

Plot[]

Open with Henry telling Carter he built the ship, named Columbus, 20 years ago. A damaged antenna and no landing strip may have been responsible for it copying alien frequencies. Tess is excited by what data Columbus may have picked up over the past decades.

Henry speaks wistful to Allison of how he designed the Columbus with Kim.

The ship opens and a woman falls to the ground. "It's Kim," Henry says.

Since Kim died two years, the gang knows it can't actually be Kim. Just as Zane tells them the ships on-board computer is fried, "Kim" pipes up that "I'm what's left."

Allison tells Carter she is having a girl.

Carter and Jo are in charge of returning all the stolen merchandise used for the landing device. With Jo having trouble with her computer, they return a boost converter to a Dr. Lieber without being able to run him through the system.

"Kim" tells them she was grown from a dropped skin cell to replace the ship's computer system. She reaches out to Henry, who seems bothered by the whole thing.

Fargo arrives at the Sheriff's department and tells them he got the wrong converter. Fargo is convinced Lieber took his on purpose.

Zane is having no luck getting info from the ship itself. Given the amount of info the ship would have collected, Tess says they must utilize "Kim."

Carter and Jo discover Lieber burnt to a crisp in his apartment, likely electrocuted. The boost converter Lieber supposedly stole is missing. Carter convinces Henry he must help out with "Kim."

Fargo admits to taking back the converter from Lieber. They tell him the missing converter may be responsible for his death.

"Kim" is writing information down on a wall. She tells them it will take 2,000+ years to pass along the ship's info using that method. Since some of the information she has is related to nearby earth-like planets, Allison wants to look into quicker methods of info transfer.

Henry tells Fargo the missing booster did not cause Lieber's death. Lieber actually electrocuted his machine from his own body.

Zane is hooking up "Kim" to a scanning device, which concerns her slightly. During the scan there is a neuro spike which Zane blames on "Kim." Before the power can be shutdown Zane is electrocuted.

They wonder if what happened to Zane is what happened to Lieber. Zane is stable but not out of the woods. Jo is upset at "Kim" for what happened to Zane and Carter asks "Kim" what role she had in both electrocutions. "Kim" suggests that perhaps she can zap anyone she wants but has no memory of such actions. She is programmed for self-preservation and thinks maybe she should be shut down while preserving her data.

Carter talks to Henry about the conversation with "Kim" and asks if there could be a piece of the real Kim inside the ship's creation. Scientifically it makes no sense, but Henry is clearly not sure. Carter asks Henry to examine "Kim."

"Kim" tells Henry it would be appropriate if he were the one to terminate her.

Henry tells Carter and Allison he has found a virus, but the source is not "Kim." Carter and Henry prepare to board the Columbus.

Henry, Carter and Tess find that the Columbus' organic mother board computer has the virus and could attack any organic computer in town. 200 people could be at risk.

Allison tells Carter that Zane is still in trouble. Carter gets zapped from a lamp and appears to contract the virus.

Henry has found the virus is now jumping from person to person. In 12 hours, everyone in town could be infected. Carter suggests that since "Kim" is immune she might hold the cure.

Henry tells "Kim" she has antibodies that could save Eureka and they should work together to find them. Henry and "Kim" decide a super high energy beam of light could distribute the cure.

The only way to find components for the cure is to have everybody return all the household items Jo and Carter gave back earlier.

With Zane not doing well, the gang gets the machine up and running. A green light glows all around town and everyone is cured. Jo and an all-better Zane make-out.

Henry gives "Kim" some new clothes. They decide that she will be around for a while, while they determine how to get the information from the Columbus out of her. Both are happy at the prospect.

Carter and Tess sit in the back of his truck and look up at the stars. The look at each other and hold hands. [1]
