Janella Marie V. Ejercito (born on November 23, 1989), commonly known as Janella Ejercito Estrada or Janella Ejercito, is the eldest daughter of actor and former senator Jinggoy Estrada and the incumbent vice mayor of San Juan City in Metro Manila.


Early life and education

Ejercito was born on November 23, 1989 to parents Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Ma. Presentacion “Precy” Vitug-Ejercito. She is the eldest among her three siblings, Joseph Luis Manuel, Julian Emilio and Julienne. She finished AB Political Science at the De La Salle University in Taft Avenue, Manila in 2012.


Political career

Ejercito's political career started when she ran for councilor of District 2 and won in the 2013 elections.[1] She was the youngest-elected councilor of the city. She authored and co-sponsored a total of 112 city ordinances and 72 city resolutions during her term.

After finishing her first term as councilor, Ejercito ran for vice mayor of San Juan City against Rolando Bernardo and Alton Glen Angeles in the 2016 elections and won.[2] [3] She was one of the youngest-elected vice mayors at that time. She and the city council of San Juan City passed legislation that support the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons and the LGBTIQ Anti-Discrimination Bill.


2019 elections

Ejercito announced her intention to run as Mayor of San Juan City a few weeks before filing her certificate of candidacy on October 15, 2018, to succeed incumbent Mayor Guia Gomez who is on her third and final term.[4]
