Lu Han (Chinese: 鹿晗, Korean: 루한), born (1990-04-20) April 20, 1990 (age 34) in Beijing, China is a Chinese singer best known as the lead vocalist[1] and lead dancer of the Mandopop group EXO-M, a sub-group of the popular South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO. He is currently signed to S.M. Entertainment in South Korea and Avex Trax in Japan.

Life and career

1990–2010: Early life and career beginnings

Lu Han graduated from the Beijing Shida Middle School and attended the Beijing Haidian Foreign Language Shi Yan School before leaving for South Korea to attend Yonsei University as an exchange student. He currently attends the Seoul Institute of the Arts to earn a degree in Applied Music.

In 2008, Lu Han auditioned for JYP Entertainment global audition held in China, but failed the audition.[2][3] In 2010, while studying in Seoul, Lu was scouted by an Sm Agent in Myungdeong. S.M. Entertainment casting agent, who recommended him to audition for the company's annual S.M. Casting System. Lu's audition was successful, and began training in areas of singing, dancing, acting, and language.

2011–present: EXO

In January 2011, S.M. Entertainment announced their plans to debut a new boy band sometime in March or April 2011.[4] However, news of their debut did not surface until December 2011, when S.M. began revealing members of the group individually through a series of teaser trailers. Lu was the second of the twelve members introduced, and was featured in a teaser released on December 27.[5] Along with EXO-M members Tao, Chen, and EXO-K's Kai, Lu made his first televised performance on SBS's Gayo Daejun event on December 29.

EXO-M and their K-pop subgroup, EXO-K, released their prologue single "What Is Love", on January 30, 2012. The group released their second prologue single "History" on March 9.[6] They held their first pre-debut showcase in Seoul's Olympic Stadium on March 31, 2012, one hundred days after EXO debuted their first trailer on December 21, 2011.[7] Approximately 3,000 fans from 8,000 applicants were selected to attend the showcase.[8] The group held their second showcase and first press conference in the Great Hall of the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China on April 1.[9]

The group's official debut single "Mama" was released on April 8,[10] followed by an EP, Mama, on April 9.[11][12] On April 8, EXO-M made their debut performance in China at the 12th Yinyue Fengyun Bang Awards, performing "Mama.'[13]

As of August 5th 2014, Luhan became the Guinness World Record holder for the Most Comments on a Weibo Post.[14]
