Defence services Institute of Technology (Defense Services Technological Academy) is an institution for the undergraduate education of officers of Myanmar Armed Forces and is in Pyin-Oo-Lwin, Mandalay, Myanmar. Defense services Institute of Technology was established in early 1994. The Academy also supports the values of "Honor, Creative, Capable."

Description

The DSIT campus is in Wet-Won, Pyin-Oo-Lwin, Mandalay on the Highway of Mandalay-Lasho, and opposite side of the town where Defense Services Academy located at.

Students at the DSIT are referred to by their military rank (Cadet). Upon graduation, most DSIT Cadet are commissioned as Lieutenants in the Myanmar Army, Navy or Air Force, and must serve a minimum of ten years after their commissioning. As of January, 2007, no women cadets are accepted for DSIT. The current rector of DSIT is Brigadier General Win Myint since the school was established. Most DSIT graduates kept on studying for their graduate level courses at Yangon Technological University, and Mandalay Technological Universities. 30% of the graduates go to Russia, and studying Nuclear science under Myanmar government nuclear developnment program.

Cadets learn basic military skills, including leadership, through a military program that begins on their first day at DSIT. Most military training takes place during the cold season, with new cadets undergoing Cadet Basic Training - or Beast Barracks - the first year, followed by Cadet Field Training at the second year. Additionally, cadets are housed in barracks and have leadership positions and responsibilities throughout the academic year.
