Transformers: War for Cybertron is an upcoming video game developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii and scheduled to be released for 2010.[1]

First previewed in Game Informer magazine. The setting is the planet Cybertron before contact is made with the planet Earth.

An encrypted countdown on the official site shows that more information surrounding the game will be available at 5:00PMEST/6:00PMCST, Tuesday, December 15, 2009. This encrypted countdown has now expired, and has been replaced with a "transmission search". The goal of the user is to find all the transmission coordinates, demarcated by Cybertronian symbols on a dial in the lower-right hand corner.

Hasbro and Activision made a press release about the game on December 16, 2009.[2]

The press release revealed the game will function as an origin story for the Transformers and will feature separate campaigns for the Autobots and Decepticons. The game will also feature on-line co-op and head-to-head multiplayer.

Based on the recently release Cinematic Trailer. IGN has started calling War for Cybertron the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" of 2010. [3]

Design

In reaction to the many fans who were irked by the "Michael Bay-ified insect-like versions" of the Autobots and Decepticons from the 2007 and 2009 Transformers films the design team tried to instead put a modern polish on a look that evokes the feel of the cartoon that launched the series into the mainstream public awareness.
