Productions in 2007 - 2008 will include "Maes Terfyn", "The Devoted Friend", "Beauty and the Beast", and "Almonds and the Sea Horse".

Productions in 2008 - 2009 included the award winning verbatim theatre piece "Deep Cut" and the new work written by Gary Owen "Amgen : Broken".

Central to the work we do are commitments to develop and champion the work of Welsh and Wales-based writers, to foster the involvement of young people in the experience of theatre and to actively encourage the development of emerging artists of the next generation.
The creation of Sherman Cymru provides a powerful opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the national and international development of theatre in Wales and to the vigour of theatre in its capital city.

A major redevelopment of the Sherman building is currently being planned for 2010. Through this project it is aimed to transform public and backstage facilities and provide audiences and participants with a stunning building that will reflect the spirit and energy of Sherman Cymru.

== Technical Information ==

The Sherman Theatre complex consists of Venue 1 and Venue 2.

Venue 1:Venue 1 seats 468 on one raked tier. Lighting and Sound Control Rooms (separated) are situated at the rear, along with the Projection Box. Sound desk placed at the rear of the auditorium. Lighting is controlled by Strand 530i. Sound is controlled by a Midas Verona.

The Auditorium walls form an unstressed proscenium arch, opening 11.66m x 5.53m. Depth of stage excluding apron 10.64m. Max depth of semi-circular apron (orchestra lift) 3m. Grid Height 14.4; Wing Space 4m(PS) 7m(OP). Single Purchase Counterweights 34. Bar length 15.85m. Get in door 2.7m x 3.5m, 1.6m above road level, but then level, direct access onto mainstage.

The semi circular forestage takes the form of a lift which may be lowered to form an orchestra pit to accommodate up to 20 musicians. The stage floor is hardwood covered with hardboard sheeting. A safety curtain is installed.

Venue 2 :Venue 2 seating is flexible although time-consuming to alter. Seats are polypropylene chairs arranged on a balcony and stepped 'seating units' which consist of three retractable 'bleachers' and five 'knock down' units. The standard arrangement for seating is Thrust. Venue 2 is octagonal with an all round balcony at 1.98m. Max width of floor 11.89m. Width of clear floor with seating in the round 6.4m. Get in doors 1.7m x 1.93m at road level. Lighting and Sound Control room is situated at the rear of one side of the Octagon and above seating level. Lighting is controlled by ETC Express. Sound is controlled by Allen & Heath Mix Wizard.

Communications: Full SM facilities, F.O.H. and D.R. calls ring intercom, cue lights, show relay. Closed circuit TV to prompt desk and FOH.
Dressing Rooms: 4 on 2 floors accommodating 2, 12, 16, 17 Showers available in basement.
Orchestra Pit: 20 musicians
Sound Recording Studio
To rear of main stage is a workshop/paint frame extending the full width of stage including PS and OP wings. Paint frame fitted. (max cloth height approx 5 meters).
Wardrobe and laundry are situated on the first floor. The Green Room, Rehearsal Room and Dance Studio are accommodated in the basement.

Sherman Cymru - or The Sherman Theatre as it was once known - is a performing arts venue in the Cathays district of Cardiff. It is Cardiff's (and indeed South Walesonly producing theatrical venue.
