Synopsis for "Futures End - Chapter 4"

After being attacked by S.H.A.D.E., Frankenstein is angry, and demands justice, entering the Ant Farm, and threatening Dr. Belroy upon his arrival. He reminds that he never wanted to be sought by S.H.A.D.E. again, and had made a new home for himself in the north. He can only assume that their attack on him was meant to draw him out. When Father Time gloats that her ploy to draw him out worked, he pulls a revolver on her. In response, his gun-hand is sliced clean off by one of S.H.A.D.E.'s newest agents; Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld.

Father Time reminds that S.H.A.D.E. is still the planets greatest weapon against supernatural chaos and paranormal evil because they are the only ones who aren't afraid of going to the darkest corners of the world - because its agents are even darker. As long as S.H.A.D.E. still exists, someone like Frankenstein can still play the hero. She warns that the universe is in peril, and she needs her best agent - him - on the case. She reveals the fate of the Carrier and Stormwatch in The Bleed. After being pulled out of the Bleed, they were destroyed in under four minutes. Amethyst suggests that whatever destroyed them is exactly the storm they were watching for.

Frank doesn't want to go into deep space as Father Time commands to investigate, but she warns that she called him as a favour. Among those lost in the attack was The Mermaid - one of Frank's former lovers. Moved by the loss, Frank demands revenge. Father time reveals that he can have it thanks to the science of Ray Palmer, who can get them across the universe by taking a shortcut through the Phantom Zone.

Meanwhile, in New York City's Central Park, Calvin Corcoran takes a run with Madison Payne, who is concerned about his knee after he was hit by a drunk driver in Gotham City. He hasn't been back since, and his reticence to talk about his past makes Madison comment that he has an intriguing air of mystery about him. He promises that he hasn't got a criminal record. She still wants to know more about his past, claiming that the war changed him, and that he'd rather not relive it. She, for example, would rather not think about her father, who was imprisoned for betraying Earth in the war. Relenting, she drops the subject, but both of them stop in their tracks when they spot a video broadcast of a man in a bat-suit. Nearby, Lois Lane spots his reaction of disgust, and decides it's time for them to talk.

Elsewhere, Key and Plastique hold a meeting with a man called Coil who demands that they pay him a large sum up front for just two minutes of his time. He has tried to go legit since he was caught by the Flash, but Key and Plastique believe they can entice him into one last job - because it pays very well. All they have to do is break into Terrifitech.

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, Grifter is skeptical that this King Faraday character his partner Justin is worried about can pose a real threat. After another round of exterminating aliens in disguise, he nonetheless follows Justin's advice by confiscating all of the technology that his victims have on hand, just in case it might be alien tech in disguise. With his mission complete, he prepares to get into his car, only to be interrupted by the ringing of his phone. Expecting it to be Justin, he is surprised when it is Faraday himself, who demands a meeting - and he has no choice but to accept. Suddenly, Faraday appears behind him and shoots him through the spine, paralyzing him, and then dumps a bag of evidence that will portray him to the media as a serial killer. One way or another, this will end with Cole Cash doing as King Faraday wants him to.
