Synopsis for "Dangerous Games"

Two employees of Scott Toys talk about the decline in the company's quality since LexCorp's takeover. After they lock the store, it is blown up by Schott who promises to make Luthor regret for what he did to his company. Two weeks later, Lex receives a final warning from Toyman to back off. While reading it, he learns that Clark Kent wants to interview him and grants him the opportunity.

Clark asks Lex over whether the three explosions at Schott Toys were due to malfunction, but the latter threatens to sue the Daily Planet and bankrupt it if such a claim is printed. Lex calls Schott a psychopath who turned to robbery with his company's failure, though Calrk states it's rumored that it was to prevent a hostile takeover by LexCorp. Lex claims to have saved a proud American company and after being told of shifting the manufacturing of toys in China, accuses Daily Planet for obsession with Earth's most dangerous alien Superman.

As he leaves, Clark gets mocked by Luthor over his wife being a better reporter but he responds that it's okay as he loves her. Later while eating out, he tells Lois about his interview with Lex. Perry barges in and is upset that he didn't run it by him before interviewing Lex, but tells him to continue digging. Suddenly, toy spaceships start attacking people with lasers and Perry orders Lois and Clark as well as Jimmy to go cover it. Clark destroys all the ships and learns they belonged to LexCorp.

Next day, Clark tells Perry that LexCorp found out that the attacking toys were life-threatening counterfeits added in along with their legitimate toys by someone. Perry wonders why Luthor doesn't just shut down Schott Toys and asks Clark to find out. Their talk is however interrupted by a scared Jimmy Olsen who informs them about Toyman waiting just outside Perry's office. The Toyman states he wants to talk to Clark and tells him that the he will keep attacking until Lex stops the manufacturing Schott Toys products.

Lois however swings a fire extinguisher at the supposed "Toyman" and discovers it was a robot. The robot however states that he will be sending out his biggest toy yet to send a clear message to Lex. As it attacks LexCorp's global headquarters, the giant toy robot is attacked and is destroyed by Superman. Lex then sends out an announcement that Schott Toys' production will be shut down and its toys destroyed.

Some days later, Lex tells Clark that all toys have been destroyed. Clark questions whether the real motive of Lex buying Schott Toys was because he believed their components could be used for military purposes and upon not finding then in his toys, he allowed Schott to attack in order to find if he really had them. Lex dismisses such suggestion, however it turns out his company is secretly researching his giant robot for potential military apllications.

Synopsis for "Mad World"

This story is reprinted from Supergirl (Volume 5) #56.

Aboard Bizarro-Girl ship, Kara talks to her while she's unconscious and relates her recent experiences, and then falls unconscious and talks a bit like a Bizarro even though the gas wasn't supposed to affect her. Kara then has a dream where other Kryptonians on New Krypton can't hear her and some explosion or fire sears her flesh off. She then wakes up as the ship arrives at Bizarro World, which is exploding and cracking all over. The ship crashes down and the Bizarros attack Bizarro-Girl for leaving them in their time of need. Bizarro Lex then shows up and says some Bizarros speak opposite because of different dialects and that the "godship" was his fault, as he sent a signal into space to...either try to help or hurt Bizarro, I honestly can't tell.

Then some giant bug lands and eats Bizarro Lex, and Bizarro-Girl attacks it. Supergirl is about to cut Bizarro Lex out with heat vision when Bizarro arrives and freezes the monster and says he'll just make another Bizarro Lex. He and Bizarro-Girl are reunited.

Bizarro shows her the "godship", which crashed on Bizarro world. He tried to make it leave and it sent all the giant bugs after him. He tried to fight it but failed, and when trying to make a "super-powered backup" somehow Bizarro-Girl was created.

Kara goes to see the "godship" and it's not a ship but some kind of giant space bug.

The giant space bug sends her flying through the entire planet, where she just happens to land back where Bizarro and Bizarro-Girl are. She says she's going to need Superman's help.

Synopsis for "The Boy Who Stole Superman's Cape"

This story is reprinted from Action Comics (Volume 2) #0.

Years ago, Clark Kent got a job with the Daily Star, and used some of the first money he made to put out an order for 200 T-shirts with a specially designed 'S' symbol on the chest.

Clark had been living with photographer Jimmy Olsen for a while, but on this day in particular, he was planning to move into his new place. Clark was a little sad to be leaving, given how great Jimmy's place was. His mother had once been a model, but she lost all of her money and ended up in the Bowery. When he was 17, his rich father had felt guilty and unloaded a fortune onto him - making Jimmy rather conflicted.

Clark felt Jimmy was lucky to have his job and to have met someone like Lois Lane. Clark admired her ability to speak the truth uncompromisingly through journalism. Knowing his friend well, Jimmy noted that it was just like Clark Kent to reveal his obsession with Lois on the day he was leaving.

Later, Clark went out as Superman with the intent to stop Glen Glenmorgan's men disposing of a policewoman who was witness to one of his crimes. Though he withstood their bullets with ease, an RPG rocket knocked him off his feet and into the alley below. He failed to stop them from taking away their victim, and remained unconscious in the alley for a while. A young boy found him there, and took Superman's cape for himself.

At the Daily Planet, meanwhile, Perry White refused to print Jimmy's photos which he claimed showed a super-strong mystery man withstanding an RPG blast. Despite Lois Lane's insistence that she was witness to the events, Perry refused to run the story without further proof than three blurry photos and hearsay.

The boy, meanwhile, returned home to his abusive home life, wearing the cape. His father was in the midst of beating his wife, and was soon to abuse the boy's younger brother with a knife when the boy challenged him to leave them both alone. Drunk and angry, the father tried to stab the boy with the knife, but the blade snapped against the indestructible cape. The boy put himself between his father and his brother, and with his fist wrapped in the fabric, he punched his abuser in the gut. The blow hurt enough that he doubled over, and the boys managed to escape.

Clark met his landlady, Mrs. Nyxly, who assured him that he would like it at his new building. In her apartment, she pointed out photos of her nephew Ferlin and her husband, a magician, who was put into a coma by a rival's prank. Though Clark's apartment would be small, it would suit him fine, for his purposes.

The boys escaped to a rail yard, where the elder promised that they would be safe, so long as they wore the cape. Unfortunately, their drunken father had caught up with them. Nearby, Lois and Jimmy were preparing to meet Clark at his new apartment when the altercation between father and sons caught Lois' eye.

The boys swore they wouldn't go back with him, and they failed to notice as a train came along the tracks. The father grabbed the younger brother away, as the elder realized that his foot had been caught in the rails. Praying the cape would save him, the boy wrapped himself in it while his father tried to force his younger son to watch what would happen.

Suddenly, Superman appeared, and stopped the oncoming train with the force of his body alone. The boy recognized his savior, and willingly gave up the cape. Wrapping his cape over his shoulders, Superman promised that the bullying father would not bother them again.

Meanwhile, Lois and Jimmy had caught the rescue on camera, and they were finally able to print the story that would introduce Superman to the world.

Synopsis for "Brainiac, Part 3: Greetings"

This story is reprinted from Action Comics #868.

At the Daily Planet, Cat Grant struts down the aisles impressing the younger male staff with her "assets". Supergirl stops by the Planet to inquire about Clark Kent's whereabouts and embarasses Cat by accidentally and candidly revealing information about her physical "enhancements". Lois Lane comes along and takes Kara aside before Cat have the chance to object. On Daily Planet's rooftop, Supergirl asks again where her cousin is at.

Superman is actually trapped aboard Brainiac's Skull Ship where he is being examined by Brainiac Probes. He dreams of cities being captured and planets destroyed. When he awakens, he breaks free and smashes several of the robots. Superman begins exploring the vessel, searching for Brainiac. After a disturbing encounter with an ape-like specimen named Koko, Superman finds the shrunken Krptonian city of Kandor. The city is concealed inside a bottle that retracts up into the ceiling as soon as Superman touches it. Continuing his exploration, he soon comes upon the bio-pod of the ship's master, Brainiac.

Brainiac awakens and descends from the pod. He approaches Superman, grabs his neck and declares Superman belongs to him now. Superman defends himself but his attacks don't apprear to be very effective. Brainiac slams Superman into a wall, where he is seized by metallic tentacles, and then Brainiac drones on everything belonging to him. He'll absorb the universe's knowledge until he has evolved into perfection. But since knowledge is power, he will not allow someone else to gain it. Superman realizes Brainiac obliterates planets after stealing a piece of their culture and tries to fight Brainiac again. Nonetheless, Brainiac subdues him once again. Then Brainiac tells when he mind-probed Superman's mind he learned of the existence of Earth and other living Kryptonian specimen: his cousin.

On Metropolis, people are going about their business when Brainac's ship appears in the sky above the city. Standing on the Daily Planet rooftop, Lois and Kara see the ship and Supergirl gets firghtened.
