Synopsis for "Night of the Falling Sky"

A man surrounded by flames falls from the sky over Metropolis. Claudia Shane and Dave Lincoln notice the "shooting star" from their respective apartments and realize it must have fallen between them. Following its trail to the forest, they stumble upon Victor Lanza and Harvey Lockman, who also follow the falling object. Upon finding the crater, they see a man in golden armor lying on the ground. They try to open the armor and accidentally activate a Mother Box that reveals the man inside: Orion.

Meanwhile, Takion follows Metron's power force to his last known location when he suddenly encounters the Annihilators. Takion shrinks them and takes off. Elsewhere, Metron takes the kids Steven and Wes to a safe place when they stumble upon Big Barda and Mister Miracle. Scott reveals his identity to the kids and explains that his Mother Box warned him about something catastrophic in New Genesis[1], but they can't teleport there. Steve and Wes explain how they saw New Genesis and Apokolips explode in Metron's memories.

Scott explains what he saw a few days earlier. After failing to open a Boom Tube, Scott and Oberon built a stargate to New Genesis. Scott got sucked through the portal, and his harness broke. Barda returned from Themyscira in time to hold the line, but she got sucked into the stargate as well. She arrived with Scott at New Genesis' supposed location, but they only found a white void. Oberon threw another rope and rescued the couple.

Metron and Mister Miracle finish recounting what they saw, and Big Barda lashes out at Metron, demanding to know why he seemingly betrayed New Genesis. Suddenly, Takion steps in and interrupts the discussion to introduce himself. Takion explains that some "higher purpose" drew him to meet them, and Metron senses he might be the key to understanding this mystery.

Elsewhere, Claudia and company bring the unconscious Orion to her apartment. They fail to understand how they were the only ones in all of Metropolis who saw Orion's arrival, and Dave assumes it's because they once were involved with Orion and the New Gods. Suddenly, Desaad and a squad of armed Parademons show up in the apartment, intent on investigating the situation as well.
