Synopsis for "Time and Time and Time Again"

Per Degaton travels time, encountering the Justice Society in the 1940s and today. He spies Stargirl crying and then shifts to cryptically accost Doctor Mid-Nite saving the life of a child from the Crime Doctor in Portsmouth City, before traveling to Fawcett City, where Captain Marvel resigns the Society in conversation with The Flash; he flies away with Mister Mind in tow. As Marvel exits, Degaton gives another curious message to The Flash, telling him that he dies like a man at some point in the future.

In Los Angeles, Green Lantern and Hawkgirl inform the family of Alex Montez that he died a hero. The duo are confronted by Degaton with more gruesome details of their deaths and he disappears to Salem, where the voice of Sandman in the Mirror of Cogliostro stops him from interrupting the reunion of Dr. Fate and Fury in the Tower of Fate. He disappears to Ivy Town, where Raymond Palmer confers with Mister Terrific and Rex Tyler but says that he cannot help free Tyler's son from the Timepoint. Hourman storms out and takes a dose of Miraclo to leap across rooftops in anger and Degaton materializes again. This time, Rex can interact with the villain who was previously intangible to all the other heroes. He claims that he could the younger Hourman but refuses out of spite and vanishes.

Captain Marvel flies to Blue Valley to talk with Stargirl and informs her that he's quitting the team because Black Adam is now contained in Kahndaq[1] and the two heroes' romantic relationship has caused him too much stress. Per Degaton watches in the background and time travels to see the girl's heart broken repeatedly.
