Bast is the Egyptian goddess of cats, and one of the matrons of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall.

Bast appeared in the Dreaming along with Anubis and Bes, and other deities when Morpheus obtained the key to Hell.[1] During the course of the dinner offered by Morpheus Thor got drunk and made sexual advances to Bast, who in turn got enraged and scrathced Thor's face, leaving him crying and drunk under the table. Later when Morpheus asked Bast to join him in his chambers to hear her offer she offered the location of Destruction to gain the key, but Morpheus refused.[2]

Two years later, Morpheus recreated Bubastis (the holy city of Bast) in the Dreaming in the hope that she could make good on her promise and tell him where his brother was. Unfortunately, Bast did not truly know where Destruction was. She had news that sixty years ago, he was seen in Paris, but that was all. After rebuffing the cat-goddess' attempts to seduce him, Dream returned to his castle.[3]

When Morpheus died, Bast was at his funeral.[4]
