Summary

[edit]
Description The azure bluet (Enallagma aspersum) female during metamorphosis. It's larval exuviae is next to it. We couldn't nail down what the "black tail tip" enallagma we found in a few ponds was, so I took one back to the lab and let it emerge. We found that the reason we couldn't ID the larva was that we didn't consider species which "shouldn't" show up in our area. This was a new record for the county and fairly far away from other records.
