FEMA crews canvassing neighborhoods in Morgan City

MORGAN CITY, La. (KADN) — South Louisiana's recovery efforts from Hurricane Francine, which struck one week ago, are ongoing.

New estimates from FEMA peg the damage in our state from the storm at over a billion dollars. FEMA crews began canvassing neighborhoods on Wednesday, September 18, to help residents in need of assistance.

Just one week after Hurricane Francine made landfall as a 100-mile-per-hour Category 2 storm, FEMA is now out cleaning up neighborhoods in Morgan City.

Crews were across the city, helping to pick up the pieces after Francine tore through the area.

Workers’ favorite part is hearing back from the community and knowing that what they do actually matters.
