I loved reading this! The story was fun and the overall experience of reading it and getting to uncover the story was fun too. I loved the story of the Marvels. The illustrations were beautiful and I felt like I got to know all the characters really well even though there was no text to go with it. I loved Joseph's story too. I have literally nothing bad to say about this. A true masterpiece <3...more
I truly did not expect to love this book as much as I loved it because I am not the biggest fan of The Night Circus. I twow. Wow. WOW, I am speechless.
I truly did not expect to love this book as much as I loved it because I am not the biggest fan of The Night Circus. I thought that The Night Circus was beautifully written, but I wasn't personally invested in the story. And I went into this book expecting the same thing.
But this book swept me away before I could even make head or tails of what was going on. After finishing the book, I still can't say I know what went on. But whatever it was, I liked it.
I loved the way the story was told. The character was part of something bigger than just himself, and reading this book made me feel like maybe I can be part of something bigger than myself too. The tale of Fate and Time was beautiful as well, and so was the idea that while fate and time are both important concepts, they are not greater than your own decisions and actions.
This book was about the fact that some things must end to mean something. That all endings are beginnings and all beginnings are endings. And I love how all of these abstract ideas mesh together in this book.
More than anything, this, I think is an introspective book. It means what you want it to mean. And the more meaning you can draw from it, the more beautiful it might seem to you. It definitely has become one of my favorites! ...more

The writing style and the storytelling is wonderful and I loved every single second I spent reading this. I knew this book would be a good one from page 1, and I wasn't wrong.
The plot was amazing and the pacing was good. Things didn't just happen out of the blue, but were hinted at several times beforehand, and I loved making those connections between the foreshadowing and the plot points. We get to travel to several places and explore this world fully. The fantasy element was really unique, and I loved the concept of using gods as a source of power.
All the characters were well developed, and I am IN LOVE with each and every main character. I loved seeing all the changes Rin when through over the course of the book. My favorite character was Nezha and he was a jerk at the beginning, but I loved that he was redeemed. And Altan! He started off as a far off figure, someone Rin idolized, but we get to know him so well by the end. All these characters are so beautiful and I'm really looking forward to seeing where they go in the next book.

This is obviously a fantasy story, but it's written in a way that makes me believe in everything I'm reading. It made me feel like if I travelled to the edge of the world, I really will find my way into a small town called Wall. Needless to say, the writing style is breathtaking and flawless.
In the beginning, I found the story to be completely plot-driven because it took me quite a while to familiarize myself with the characters. But, once I did get to know the characters, I found myself caring for them deeply.
One thing that I absolutely love about the characters was the fact that they felt natural and REAL. No character fell into any particular trope. They were all special in their own ways, but at the same time seemed to be perfectly ordinary.
This story was simply beautiful and whimsical and I highly recommend it. ...more

I LOVED Siri and I enjoyed reading from her perspective the most. And my second favorite was Lightsong. I also REALLY LOVE Susebron. I was most frustrated reading all the Vivenna chapters but it was interesting seeing how she dealt with things and how she developed as a character.
I'm really glad I decided to pick this up! ...more

I've only read a few high fantasy novels, and I was very intimidated starting this one, BUT it had me hooked from chapter 1. I was reading and reading and found that I couldn't stop.
I LOVED the main character Kvothe. He was witty, snarky, and funny. My heart hurt for him, I wanted him to succeed in everything he did, and I enjoyed reading from his perspective very much. There was a lot of flowery writing (some might call it overly-descriptive), but I actually didn't mind it very much because I though it made the story more epic and dramatic. And maybe I paraded around my house bellowing some of the dialogues in a medieval-type accent. I read a lot of 1-star reviews that said they didn't like the language and style of writing, but I was LIVING for it. Kvothe had a very distinct voice that I was able to pick up on and appreciate throughout this novel.
The magic system is intricate and complex; I can't wait to learn more about it in the next book. I loved the characters Simmon, Wil, Elodin, Kilvin, and Bast. Though I do wish there were more female characters.
I love how the author does not give away all secrets at once. Although some of the mystery is chipped away little by little, there's still a lot we don't know by the time the book ends. Needless to say, it is quite slow. BUT no complaints here. Though I wouldn't have minded the part with the draccus being a little shorter.
I also didn't like Denna at all. Maybe because of the way she's written. She's romanticized and is perfect in every single way. She's poor but somehow always looks clean and proper and pretty. And sure she has guys pay for her but realistically?? Not possible. Does Kvothe even like her for any reason other than the fact that she's pretty. Sure she's a "wild thing" and is fascinating and everything about her is a mystery but the only thing Kvothe has to praise about her is her beauty.
Although I did list some of the things I didn't enjoy, they were not enough to dampen my overall enjoyment of the book. I loved reading this a lot. There's so much I don't know yet, and I must read the next book immediately. Though I should probably pace myself because I have no idea when the 3rd book is coming out. 10/10 would read again. ...more
