I had almost written this book off but I am so glad I stuck with it. At first I thought the writing was too simple, until the end which had some hard hitting memorable lines that every woman will want to put her in her arsenal of comebacks. I thought I had all the twists figured out, but I didn’t! There was surprises all the way up to the end. It took me a while to get through this one but that is because I am a new mother and having to make time to read.
This book was pretty disappointing. The themes that you expect to be addressed; sexual harassment, feminism, the pressure women feel to balance work and parenthood are all there, but there is nothing compelling or fresh about the way they are addressed. By the end of the book, I found I no longer even was interested in the "big reveal" because the book was so slow and boring along the way. Probably 3.5, but good enough to round up to 4. This was a slow start for me but a very fast and engaging end. I feel fortunate to work in a woman dominated industry after reading this. It definitely gets me thinking about what I've experienced, what I hope no granddaughter of mine experiences, and what to ensure my sons have no roles in perpetuating.

I would give the first 125 pages 2 stars and the rest of the book 4 stars. I almost but it down but then suddenly I couldn’t wait to find out what happened.
However, for the entire book I had trouble keeping the characters straight and kept mixing up the women. Who had a baby? Who was divorced? Etc.
