Magnificent new book from sci-fi to author R. L. Blalock

Wildly entertaining, vividly told story of a generation of people from earth seeking a new life on another planet. Join the characters as they struggle to live in this thoroughly hostile environment and interact with the creatures that are there. Well written, well thought out story with a strong storyline and extremely interesting characters. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

The beginning of an epic new sci-fi journey

An epic new journey into the cosmos. Humanity earth is gone. What is left of humankind has been on a colony ship in space for more than 400 years searching for a new home. Follow along as they finally find a possibly new suitable planet. Consequences force them to make a choice. Land or possibly stay in space and fail or continue for many more years. Meet the new life on this new world and see what happens. A great cast of characters with a very intriguing storyline. See how the humans learn to survive on a new world with new creatures in danger. Begin this epic journey and see where it goes.
Definitely an entertaining and fast read.

Sensational story exploring the best and worst of humanity and their insecurities about the unknown. Laure will fight with everything she has for the human race, regardless of the obstacles.

This was an exciting story despite a few discrepancies (the main character's hair is described as ash-blond, and then red), and a few typos (indie publishers aren't as thorough with their spell check as major publishers are).

It's a unique story about first contact. Humanity's remnants have been sailing through space for hundreds of years, looking for a new Earth. They crash land on one, only to quickly discover a new and deadly species already inhabits the planet: the Chroin. Laure, the main character, accidentally becomes psychically linked with one of the Chroin and physically changes herself and the alien. She is met with hostility from her own people, while trying to explain what happened to her, which isn't helpful, because she doesn't understand, either. Laure and her new Chroin friend must prove themselves by protecting the survivors of the human race from the other Chroin.

As much as I liked the action scenes, and the lack of acceptance of Laure by the crew is timely, I really wanted to know more about the Chroin, and the connection one of them made with Laure. Why did it change them? How did it happen? How can Laure's new bond help humanity survive on this new planet? I hope I will find out in the next book of the series, which I will definitely be reading, because I have to find out what happens next!

Author R.L. Blalock brings us the opening chapter in the Under a New Sun saga with the Fall of Endurance. The Endurance is a colony ship that has traveled for centuries looking for a new home for the last of the human species. They come into orbit of a new planet that that leads one colonist Laura merges with a local species. That local called Kurn helps her fight off others of his species that aren't joined. But in joining she is forced out of her group and the commanders don't trust her. Not until the end and I won't spoil that because there is more to the story and I'm looking forward to reading the next novella in the series. I highly recommend this novella to all science fiction fans.

Laure, Kuna, Cern, Blalock

Laure and Cern are on a generation ship which crashes on a new planet. They are trying to salvage equipment. When attacked by native animals, Laure fuses mentally with one of the animal, which also alters her skin and hair color. She names him Kuna. She is trying to adjust to her new situation, although many of her friends assume she now sympathises with the beasts. She is abandoned by her former boyfriend, but is defended by a new friend, Blalock.

Characterization and plotting are fair, although the plot-point regarding the fusing with the alien beast is not handled well.

Humanity’s only hope against the “chroin” is a “chroin”

A great start to a fabulous new world. Filled with humanity’s continuing struggle against discrimination and a vicious, super aggressive, almost unstoppable alien monster race on their last chance at a new home. Can Laure, overcome the prejudices against her, to use her new partnership in saving thus last remnant of humanity?

Seriously, a "novella" is a cop out--a way to get people to commit to buying a series of partial stories instead of one complete one with possible sequels, if it's strong enough.

A cliffhanger cannot stand alone. This was a good start but making a reader frustrated because there's no closure is never going to entice me (or undoubtedly a big percentage of other readers) to happily pony up for the next book--that will likely not complete the story either.

I'm in love with the alien! Read to see why. 💖

The majority of the crew of the colony ship, Endurance, chose to try landing on the near by and promising planet rather than try to repair damage and continue their search for a new home. Crash! Now the action really takes off. Couldn't put it down until I reached the end! Kudos to MS. Bla lock for this riveting read. Off to get Book 2! 😍

The Fall of Endurance is a great introduction into a whole new world. It starts out with action on the first page and it never lets up not even once. The Fall of Endurance tells the story of the last of humanity who are looking for a new home on a new planet as Earth was overtaken by aliens. They have been looking for a new home for the last 400 hundred years.

Laure and her crew are woken early from cyrosleep to the sound of sirens blaring. Their spaceship is in danger and in need of major repairs. Laure is determined to keep the last of humanity safe so therefore has a decision to make and without further ado they crash land on a planet that is inhabited by aliens who attack them straight away.

Laure is a take charge kind of person with a great big heart and wants to save everybody and to always do what is right by everyone. She cares deeply for others and their safety. So it really surprises me after Laure’s interaction with the aliens and with the way her crew treated her after the fact.

The Fall of Endurance is a very interesting and intense read that pulled me in from the beginning and once it did I was lost in this new world of aliens with action and twists from beginning to end. I felt as if I was watching a movie as I could see it all happening in my head.

The Fall of Endurance is a very thought out and well written story. I can’t wait to dive into the next book The Burden of Endurance in the brand new world of Under a New Sun. I can’t wait to see how the humans and the aliens interact with each other.

I definitely recommend The Fall of Endurance to all fans of sci-fi, aliens, spaceships and life on a new planet. Grab a copy today to begin this amazing journey into a brand new world.

Great start to a series

This series started with a bang and kept going full blast with aliens, romance and danger. A series well worth reading.

Slow start but redeemed itself

A tale not a book but is sets up future books. The characterisation is thin, because of that they act in an illogical ways.
I guess its purpose is to set the scene. Maybe the characters will grow?

Really enjoyable.

I randomly came across this treasure when I was browsing out of boredom. I like reading books that have a low amount of reviews because sometimes you find something special in the millions of available titles. I was surprised at the really cool connection that happens in this story between a couple of characters. I was totally caught off guard by it! This book is well written and my only complaint is that it could be longer.

Very short

I really liked the concept but it seemed to fall apart the further l read. The story was too short to achieve the connection between the main characters that would have pulled the reader into the storyline.
