Twin Roses
Pearl and Ruby have always shared everything, including their Snow White and Rose Red curse. When they were little kids, that meant sharing Pop-Tarts and cartoons with Theo, the enchanted bear prince who came to visit them every winter and then disappeared from their lives.

Oh, Sarah Cross, where have you been all my life? Of all the fairy tale retellings, Cross's are my absolute favorites...HANDSDOWN! Beau Rivage is pretty much Story Brooke on paper and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! Twin Roses is about "Snow White and Rose Red." She pretty much keeps with the traditional fairy tale but something about how she does it just keeps me reading and eagerly awaiting the next book. Keep them coming, please!

Sweet sisterly love plus a cursed bear prince and you get a satisfactory short story. Well done Sarah Cross! Being a twin, I really enjoyed this read!!

This novella was not worth reading. I guess if you really want to learn some more fairy tales, but this felt like it was missing at least 20 pages. Characters were unlikable, story was boring, etc. etc. etc.

February 7, 2015“Snow White and Rose Red” is not a story that I was familiar with before reading “Twin Roses.” I was actually a bit confused going into it because I wasn’t sure if this was the same Snow White I’m familiar with from Disney movies and other retellings. I don’t believe that it’s the same Snow White, but it was an enjoyable story nonetheless!
In “Twin Roses,” we meet Pearl and Ruby, sisters who have always shared everything and are a bit worried about their curse hurting their relationship. The story takes place just as their curse begins, so we do get to see how it impacts their relationship.
Overall, I liked the character development and general flow of the story. The Beau Rivage crew almost always dreaded their curses. Not many people actually wants a fairy tale life and seeing how each character responds to their fate is one of my favorite things about the stories.
This story is completely independent of the other two novels in the series, so if you don’t feel like paying for the short story then no worries. If you’re a fan of the world Sarah Cross has created though and just genuinely enjoy her retellings, it’s definitely worth the read!

Give me anything that Cross writes in her Beau Rivage set. I'm not one to download ebook-only versions, .5 versions based on books, but in her case, I am absolutely on board with the sick, twisted, creative, humorous, magical, scary, sexy world that she creates with the fairy tales. I learn just as much as I do from enjoying her character development and soak up the setting.
In this story, twin girls have the Red Rose and Snow White marchen marks. A bear, who is a boy and will eventually turn into the Snow White's prince while Red Rose aka Ruby will end up marrying the prince's brother.
.. A lot can happen in a 38-page short story. Cross is magic!

January 20, 2015I'm kinda annoyed that this is a short story and not a whole book. I feel like it would be insanely difficult to properly develop the story in such a short space, but perhaps I'm underestimating the author's ability. Besides, 50 pages isn't that short... But still, unless this is an epilogue.. I just don't think that my expectations will be met :-/

Probably, the last book/e-book that I'll ever read for 2016. Let the Christmas vacation take the spree of my time. I never knew Snow White had a sister named Ruby Red. For Pearl and Ruby, their bond was quite impressive. Sisterly love, indeed. Too much for girls' curses. The märchen marks attract me, though.

This is a lovely retelling of one of my favourite fairy tales (the favourite by the Brothers Grimm). While the author chose to make some change to modernize the plot and it is overall grittier than the original (this series by Sarah Cross is quite gritty and definitely the original fairy tale is the less gritty out of the Grimm collection), I found it an enjoyable retelling, almost endearing!

Snow White and Rose Red is a lesser know, somewhat odd fairytale. This retelling sticks pretty closely to the original including the randomness, but also deals with the problematic parts - like the two girls both loving one cursed bear as children but at the end of the curse, one is his love and the other - bereft of her sister? a consolation prize for another man? Maybe marrying the sister off to another prince is neat and tidy in a fairytale, but not good enough for a modern girl. Fate vs freewill was left a bit ambiguous in this one and the ending is a rather open ended. Satisfying, but no closure. In a way it rather suits the odd source story.
This is a short story set in the Beau Rivage world, a hidden modern community where kids are marked/cursed to live out fairy tales. It is an interesting concept and knowing the story they are fated to play out leads to some very interesting complications and dark twists in this series! As an addition to the series I think this worked and it was fun seeing cameos from some familiar faces featured in other books.

This was my least favorite of the Beau Rivage stories. It felt short (I read it in one sitting), underdeveloped, and not worth the purchase price ($1.99 at Amazon). It is also a lesser known and, as far as I'm concerned, less appealing Grimm tale. The story was strange, and the ending didn't feel completely resolved. This seems more like a story that would be free or maybe $.99. If you're on a tight budget, like me, I'd recommend skipping it.

Variace na pohádku Snow White a Rose Red. Nešlo o pouhé převyprávění, Cross se věnuje i psychologické stránce toho, jaké to asi je když člověk žije ve městě pohádkových postav, kde se pohádky opakují. Připomíná mi to Ever After High knihy a proto jsem tvorbu Cross v první řadě vůbec objevila.
Líbilo se mi tam pár obratů a pohádkových vtipů. Přečetla jsem to na jeden zátah.
Když si pospíšíte, na Amazonu je to dnes za zlevněnou cenu.

Entertaining short story but was not a fan of curse words (just the biblical ones but still). I had never heard the story of Rose Red and Snow White so that was definitely an interesting fairy tale! Ages 12+ just for language.

Fun quick read that exposed me to a fairy tale I had never heard of before. And don't worry if you haven't read the other books in this series because it stands alone.
