EVA MARKS DID IT AGAIN! Her book are unhinged but man oh man, they're SO worth reading! This may be my favorite book by her so far. I hate picking favorites but this book was absolutely insane and SO hot!! This is a twist on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I. ate. it. up!
The hero, Marcus, is a a psychiatrist and falls for the heroine, his daughter's best friend. This is a twisted book of course but the romance was sweet. He does crazy things for her - birth control tampering, throwing her in the pool when she can't swim, and has sex with her while hypnotized. Like I said, it's UNHINGED but you literally can't stop reading a book like this because it's so good. I felt hypnotized by the hero the whole time I read it, lmao.
If you're wanting to read this, know that it's crazy. But it's an Eva Marks novel so expect the craziness!! It's dark, depraved, HOT, and oh so good. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dark books. I looooved Marcus in this one. Something HAS to be in the book for me to eat it up like this. Eva's books are like crack, lmao. I can't stop reading her books!!

Eva makes me question myself whenever I read her books. I kid you not I was like?! Is this a new kink??? Now, hands down, she surprised me with this one. She wrote a red flags OTT alphahole that had me question myself. Like, really question myself, lol. Please don't take it seriously.
Marcus has been obessed with his daughters best friend for ages, but he knows it can never happen because one she's younger than him, and it's his daughters bestie. It's complicated, like really complicated. But that doesn't stop them both from watching each other from afar. But things take a turn when Rylan, the daughter, finally catches on the little hints between the two, which has Marcus kidnapping and Drugging Leighton to protect her.
Yup, you read that right. Taking her away and keeping her is what he does he uses his hypothesis therapy and other delicious and dirty ways to break and put back together his little doll. And I swear some scenes made me squirm in my seat when I read.
And GASP!! YES GASP!! We see the ups and downs the way Marcus flips from good to dark grey.. he'll have you wanting to strangle him and toss your panties at him.
Let's not forget Leighton she was in a sticky situation with all this and her emotions on what to do and what to feel. I loved it for her, plus she taught and challenged him to.
The ending was great. We have everything wrapped in a black bow!

This book started out so strong. There's the intro to the situation, the taboo-ish aspect of the heroine's BFF's father, the reason he's been holding out, etc.
What came out of nowhere was how much of a perv the heroine was. Sneaking around the house when the friend wasn't there. Doing some self-enjoyment watching the hero sleep or doing some self-enjoyment himself.
I've been getting a bit sick of the overly innocent, clueless virgins. This one at least wasn't clueless and her innocence was sort of biologically only.
The hero takes her suddenly, though, and she's not having it. She fights him every step, including letting herself drown. I was actually cheering for her.
He does everything to possess every part of her and I was there for it.
The main kink in this book, which I'm calling somno on crack™ was too much for me. But that's mostly because I've always been afraid of marionettes. I also don't see how it's sexy when I picture the hero pawing and licking at the immobile form... It looked kinda ridiculous in my head.
From her POV it was a bit better since she does feel good, but still, no doll kink for me ✋ (I mean that literally, they tie her up like a broken doll at one point, I think? I was skimming the steam by then)

Let me explain. The daughter is so possessive of her dad, she's killed twice before. Both time the dad's gfs. The father found out after the second and stopped dating. When he started to fall for the heroine, he hid it, because
So the reason he takes the heroine is because he saw the daughter realized how they felt about each other and was getting ready to murder her.
So, the daughter is deranged. Ready to kill the love of his life. So what's his plan?
📢You heard right, ladies and gentlemen, his grand plan is prayers ❗
Let us all put our hands together and bow our heads so that this poor, misguided girl with two body counts sees the light 🙏🙏🙏
As if that wasn't bad enough, why tf do I have to read something like this:

Like I said at the beginning, I was loving the heroine not letting herself become a doormat, but her biggest issue was not knowing why she was taken so suddenly. He doesn't want to tell her his daughter is insane because "he wants her to love him for him?" wtf?
Instead she keeps coming back to "but you kidnapped me and are being mean for no reason" and he keeps thinking "I'm saving you".
It. got. old. reallyyy fast

The idea was there. The execution not so much.
I think if the author's writing skill were better, the book wouldn't have felt so interminable. Once the first few days of resistance had passed, I just wanted the whole confrontation with the daughter to be over. It loomed in a bad way. The constant repetition and every step of their progress being interrupted by steam became an annoyance.
The conclusion was also so underwhelming. ig the author wants to write the daughter's story? That's not my problem, though. If I'm reading a certain book, I'm not caring about the ones not yet written/read (if I am, it's a bad book).
Don't sacrifice one book for a possible future one.
TLDR: Good idea, good beginning. Long, repetitive middle. Boring, underwhelming conclusion.

The gruesome sight had me choking. Understanding who was behind it felt like someone was carving my heart out.

I finished this book in a day and loved every second of it. Eva creates the most intense and possessive men, and Marcus is the most unhinged of them all. His obsession with Leighton, especially when she's in danger, is next-level.🤭
I must admit, I never thought hypnosis would be my kink, but here I am, all into it now.🤣 Marcus could say “moon” and “cloud” to me, and I would instantly drop to my knees without any hesitation.🤷🏽♀️🙂↕️

This one started off well but went downhill for me.
My main issue with this was the execution- This story had a great premise and plot, but the fact that the MCs already had such established feelings for each other at the very beginning, made it feel like we were starting the story from halfway through the book.
It also felt like they made absolutely no progress in their relationship because they were already in love with each other 😭 Reading this actually made me feel nothing. The more that I read the lower I wanted to rate it because it just became so unserious to me 💀.
From the confrontations to the dialogue- it was so unbelievably hard to take anything seriously and it just didn't hit its mark🤷♀️.

Well... the thing you gotta remember is, my moral compass is a roulette wheel. 🤷♀️ 🚩🚩🚩

➞ I've never seen dollification or hypnosis kink in a romance before, so big points for originality!
➞ It sometimes felt like a psychological thriller with a dash of horror. Actually, maybe psychosexual is a better term, because after Marcus kidnaps Leighton, not much happens besides sex. And yet it still had me in a chokehold.

I read 55% of this book on the verge of passing out for the night, so the first half was a little confusing for me. That’s probably just my fault though.
In the end, it just didn’t keep my attention as much as I wished. It may also be because one of the recent books I read was SO good, and I was comparing the two (not on purpose). The funny thing is that book was also about a psychiatrist.
I do recommend it. This was just a me thing.

I read 55% of this book on the verge of passing out for the night, so the first half was a little confusing for me. That’s probably just my fault though.
In the end, it just didn’t keep my attention as much as I wished. It may also be because one of the recent books I read was SO good, and I was comparing the two (not on purpose). The funny thing is that book was also about a psychiatrist.
I do recommend it. This was just a me thing.

I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC. And let me just say, this was a deliciously, dark book! I was surprised by how much I was drawn into the story line and where the author was going with it. I love a good psycho MC and when he’s your best friend’s hot father… yes, please. The only reason why I didn’t give this a 5-star rating was because of Ry… I just felt her character was unrealistic. I won’t go into details because I can’t give anything away, (that would ruin the plot twist) but I didn’t like her from the start. There were also a few things unexplained regarding her as well. BUT the storyline was original and so damn good!

Leighton has always had a crush on her best friend's dad Marcus. She's been trying to hide it from her best friend though. Leighton goes out into the garage with Marcus to grab groceries but that never happens... What happens next is much worse. What do you do when you're taken by the one man you loved?
I love every single nickname Marcus calls Leighton. Anything that comes out of his mouth is heaven. I can't believe he would wait for Leighton to stand outside his room and do that! When Marcus knew they messed up it was too late so he had to save Leighton. I wasn't expecting how he ladynapped her. Honestly Marcus gave me whiplash but I loved every minute. I wanted to help Leighton figure out her real emotions so badly. That ending was NOT what I expected at all.
Eva wrote another masterpiece. This brilliant woman knows how to write a story. I couldn't get enough. She writes hard topics so tastefully. It was up and down but came together perfectly. I'm so excited to see what she has coming next.

Excuse the short review… but this book has left me in a daze 🤤 my brain is not at full capacity since half of it seems to still be hypnotised by Dr. Marcus Kingston and all I can think of is going back in for a second round of this book

Despite the age gap, the story was enjoyable until it wasn’t anymore. The H kidnaps the h and kinda forces her to have sex with him. Plus, the h and her body betraying syndrome was sorta overdone.
I knew what I was getting into (kinda 🤷🏻♀️)so it was a 50/50 whether I was going to enjoy it. Sadly, this wasn’t for me.

Marcus (MMC) is such a psycho and I absolutely love it. He is so obsessed with Leighton (FMC), like girl had no chance of ever escaping this mans clutches (and I mean why would you when a man is that OBSESSED with you😏)
But surprise surprise... girl was just as obsessed✨
There were parts throughout this book where I was like “woah ok that got dark” understandable, its a dark romance, but sometimes you have to think like damn that is dark! Like the fucking flower garden!!! IYKYK, that got me fucked up!🤯🫣
I will never look at the words “moon” and “cloud” the same ever again...like dayum 🌙☁️😏🥵 but like you know…Marcus could say “☁️” to me ALL DAMN DAY (not even sorry🤭)
I love how Leighton developed to fully and completely trust Marcus towards the end, like she knew that man would do ANYTHING for her🖤 With everything they went through throughout this book, they were made for each other!

EVAAAAAAA. Seriously we slammed this book down. You never disappoint me with the unhinged men in your stories. Marcus, can I just say, the perfect modern day Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde. He played his part so well. He is just so obsessed with our girl and nothing will stop her from being Hɪs. My girl Leigh, LOVE her. Totally all about her best friend’s dad from a young age, but she would never ruin her friendship with Rylan. Little does she know her best friend is a bit cray cray. There wasn’t a second I was bored. Heck I was even shocked through some of it haha but I would expect nothing less. The whole ride was a wild one and I was here for it. Just 🤌🏻

The plot of the story is SO GOOD & had me on the edge of my seat while I was still able to indulge in the spicy, forbidden smut. The writing was just exceptional and you can tell that the author put in a lot of passion & effort into this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves this genre and wants to kick things up a notch.

Marcus is the best Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He is seriously unhinged and deranged and I am obsessed with him. This book is just wow. I’m at a loss for words. It’s so good and I honestly can’t wait to dive into the rest of Eva’s books.

Marcus is an expert in his field and he uses his hypnosis to his advantage, he knows he shouldn't crave sweet little Leighton but he can't stop the deprived thoughts that run through his mind whenever he is near her. I read this in a few hours! This story was so captivating, beautiful, sad and just damn right delicious.
From being lady-napped, to a loving family.

OMG! I am questioning my own sanity for not being completely horrified and turned off by this story but it was just SO FUCKING GOOD!!!! 😱
A play on the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tale, the depravity of Marcus and Leighton’s romance was top notch! I loved how possessive and obsessed Marcus was and then seeing the little pieces of Leighton’s own possessiveness come out was so perfect! These two feed off each other so well and it just created an absolutely amazing connection!
It was written so well that I felt like I was just as captivated by the story as Leighton & Marcus were with each other! The taboo nature of it all made it that much more intriguing to me as well.
I also loved how the author wove in the bit of suspense with Rylan’s part. Had me holding my breath waiting for the show to drop at multiple points!!
Highly recommend this for all the dark and twisty, taboo romance fans out there!

A play on the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tale, the depravity of Marcus and Leighton’s romance was top notch! I loved how possessive and obsessed Marcus was and then seeing the little pieces of Leighton’s own possessiveness come out was so perfect! These two feed off each other so well and it just created an absolutely amazing connection!

This book was so unhinged, but oh so good. There were times I’m like “I don’t know what Eva is doing here but.. no way this works out in a good way” just for me to be surprised every time.
The writing is phenomenal. The story is taboo and not for everyone, so read trigger warnings and LISTEN to them. I was so on the fence about the hypnosis but the way Eva wrote it was just too perfect. The story ended on such a good place but I still have my doubts about the daughter. The story Eva spins for each character just comes to life in this book and I couldn’t put it down. I had to know more. Had to know how it ended. I was not disappointed!! Eva knows what she is doing with her twisted, taboo, outside the box romances and I will read them until the end of time!!

Oh my goodness where do I start with this rollercoaster ride?!?! I would literally read the phone book if Eva has written it.
I love a best friend’s dad romance but making it dark with unhinged, flawed and depraved characters who blur the lines between love and obsession makes this a masterpiece!
Breaking the girl is a spicy, dark romance with an unhinged MMC roughly based on Jekyl and Hyde and boy does Marcus have too (equally hot) sides to him when it comes to keeping his doll safe.
Leighton is a sweetheart that has spent years pining after her best friend Ryman’s gorgeous dad Marcus and when the moment it could all become a reality she decides that she can’t hurt Rylan in that way and knows it’s wrong. Pity Marcus doesn’t care, with a little kidnapping and a dash of hypnosis Leighton will give into all her deep, dark desires and have the man she’s obsessed with.
I’ve read many best friends dad books but this is top tier, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to blush any time a man says moon to me!

I absolutely loved this book! Eva is an amazing story teller and I just can’t get enough of her writing! I don’t think she could write a bad book and I will happily read anything she writes.
The plot and character development in this one was incredible with an unconventional HEA.
Leigh had such amazing internal and even external conflict over Marcus. Marcus was absolutely unhinged in the most delicious way. I loved all the taboo in this. All the absolutely depraved scenes and statements. It was SO good! I recommend everyone just run to read this

I am a forever lover of the best friend’s dad trope, but the hypnosis kink is what sold me on giving this one a try. It was so dark and twisted, but also so very entertaining. As usual with Eva Marks stories, this one is heavy on the spice, but rest assured there is a bit of plot mixed in between on that goodness. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I do want to mention that if you have any triggers, please please please check the content warnings before beginning. The MMC does a lot of questionable things.

The plot for this story was great, our MC has a Dr.Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality which works well with the fact he’s a psychiatrist. Though my brain struggled sometimes with how he handled our FMC, being as she had loved him longer than he had her 🤷🏻♀️ Can’t say anymore on that as it will give certain elements away, there are little twists and surprises along the way some you don’t expect.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Ok, I will read any book Eva Marks sends to me! This is another unhinged dark romance with a ladynapping, hypnotizing, best friend's dad. I love that Eva always has a fully realized story in her books and the spicy is always top shelf.

Oh. My. God. Eva wasn't kidding when she said dr. Marcus has two sides a bit like dr Jeykell and mister Hyde. The level of possessive of this man is chef's kiss, I also loved the sass of Leighton, like yes gurl, don't give in that quickly, make him work for it. Hahahah so good! The plot was so good, Eva was giving us clues but i didn't catch them... So i didn't get why he was 'taking' her, as he put it ( wink wink) But yeah in the end, thank god he did. And don't even get me started on the spice, UGH... Had me sweating an insane amount! Btw 'Moon' is my new favorite word, if you know, you know!
I said it before but Eva is great in keeping me on my toes, i never know what i'm gonna get with her books, she always finds a new kink, a new level of possessive, a new level of obsessed and i'm so here for it! Thank you Eva!

Step one, check triggers. Step two, run don’t walk and get this book. I had the pleasure to read this ARC book and was so excited when it talk about it being a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of MMC. I loved getting to see all sides of the character throughout the book. What made this book so intresting was the secrets they were alluding to about other character throughout the book but only gave enough details to keep you wanting more. In the end it is all worth it and the shocking ending was amazing!
