Cambion #2.5

No Mercy

Rate this book
This is a novella in the Cambions series. Even though is set before Beg for Mercy it should be read after Waiting for Mercy.

Warning - this book is intended for mature audience. Excessive language and sexual situations may not be suitable for younger teens.

Best Friends until the end huh?

Flynn McAllister, bad to the bone, at least that’s what the girls say about him, is heading out of town for the weekend. He’s meeting up with a girl he met last summer. She and her sister will keep him and his best friend busy for the weekend. At least that’s what he thought, until a girl and other things get out of hand.

Luke Bishop isn’t an angel like everyone thinks. Okay, technically, maybe. But when it comes down to it, actions speak louder than words. And his shout that he’s more than what meets the eye. Getting out of town is a welcome idea. He just didn’t plan on meeting her and all the hell came with her.

I really liked this short story, both Flynn and Luke are a couple of naughty (but sexy) boys....

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really like Luke more than Flynn. I like them both, but I'm really hoping that Mercy ends up with Luke. Yes, Flynn is the "bad" boy that gets the girl in the end, but Luke is a more compelling, interesting character in my opinion. Anybody else think so?

I'm not sure how I missed the release of this novella. Was I living under a rock? Probably. But I crawled out and immediately grabbed a copy on Amazon.

Oh holy god it was worth so much more than the measly $0.99 it's selling for. I think this novella made waiting until December for Angel of Mercy bearable. Flynn and Luke? An entire novella devoted to them? Oh yes please. I devoured this. I was trying to read it slow to savour it but seriously that was not possible. Even though it takes place before the events of the first book in this series, Beg for Mercy, you should not read it first. It would spoil a few things for you. So, if you haven't read the first two books in this series what the hell are you waiting for? Read those (which are phenomenal!!) and then you can read this little gem.

I have absolutely no critiques. It was fast-paced, fun, and sexy as sin. A definite treat for fans of the Cambion series!

Just a note: This novella (as well as the first two books) deal with more mature ya themes and are geared toward an older ya audience. Contains swearing, references to sex, and teenage drinking.

I LOVEd getting to read from Luke and Flynn's POV!!! They are both pretty bad boys and Luke is not as saintly as we all pictured him. It actually makes him even more sexy than being the goody goody Luke. Well, at least to me. Flynn will ALWAYS be my favorite though!!!

I send the following to Shannon:

She is an author that knows how much we love our book boyfriends! Thanks for writing about what goes on inside the minds of the boys we love and giving a glimpse of what they were like before:)

I'm not usually a big fan of novellas and rarely give them more than three stars, but when it has POV's from two of my favourite male characters from the Cambion series, Luke and Flynn, what's not to love.

No mercy is set back before either of the guys have ever spoken to Mercy, but they both admire her from afar. Flynn is afraid to make a move because she's one of the only girls who doesn't fall all over him, he is an incubus after all, and never short of female attention. And Luke, not sure exactly how Flynn really feels about her, and if it would upset him, won't make a move because, total guy thing, Flynn seen her first. He is kind of waiting for Flynn's permission.

The majority of this book is set at Flynn's family lakehouse where he's arranged to meet up with a girl, out from under the eye of his current girlfriend, Amanda. And Luke, being the great best friend that he is, is playing wingman, and keeping the girl's sister occupied. We get an inside look into how Flynn actually feels about his womanising, even though it's something he needs to do to. We also get a greater insight into the powers that Luke and Flynn possess and how they use them.

I really enjoyed this and it has left me longing for even more. I can't wait for the third book in this series and I just want to read the first two over again right now. When I finished this book I was thinking that the only thing that would have made it better would have been if it continued up to the spin the bottle game that starts off the series in Beg for Mercy. And lo and behold, the next morning I go to my inbox and find an email from Shannon's newsletter basically giving me just that, the spin the bottle game from the boys POV. In the book we just get Mercy's. And it was just as awesome as I thought it would be.

This is one of my all time favourite series and if you haven't read it yet, then why not? If you don't enjoy it, I'll eat my hat.

Beg for Mercy is just 99c on Amazon, snap it up!

I am not just a book lover, I am a character lover. At times, when you read from only one perspective it can be hard to truly get a feel for all the other characters. That was never a problem for me with Shannon Dermott's Cambion Series. Yet, Shannon takes character development a step above. Not only did she deliver us this little nugget of joy written in the point of view of two of the boys (my two favorites) - but she also occasionally uploads random chapters written from another POV on her blog. It's an incentive for her readers to continue to read and post reviews of her books.

But, I digress. No Mercy is Flynn and Luke's story of a their weekend getaway. It happens before Beg for Mercy, the first book in the series. Before they have any involvement with Mercy, though they are both very aware and infatuated with her.

It gives us a nice chunk of insight on how things came into play with these two boys and Mercy, even without her being in this story. We also get to know Luke and Flynn more and there is the appearance of a few new characters, who I imagine will be playing a role in the next installment of the series.

No Mercy is a great addition to the series and I would recommend it to anyone who is already a fan. I enjoyed it but I think I have more questions coming out of it than I did going into it. It definitely has me thinking, which is probably the point. I am now even more anxiously awaiting the next book!

Can I use more than 5 stars? I REAAAAALLLLY want to!

What a treat!!! I am a HUGE fan of the Cambion Series. I enjoyed Beg for Mercy and Waiting for Mercy so much that I read them both twice. I was a little skeptical when I read the synopsis saying this was a Novella with just Flynn and Luke, as the title implies – No Mercy. I should have known to trust that Shannon was giving us all an enormous present.

OHMYSWEETGOODNESS, this was a great read!!!

Shannon gave us some insight into just how close Luke and Flynn really are. Although its title says its book 2.5, the story is actually set before Mercy came into either of their lives.

For such a short read, it was packed with action, just the right amount of suspense, and the dialog was spot on. Several characters were revisited, the foundation for how Luke ended up with Nina, how Flynn ended up with Amanda were laid out, there were vampires, shape-shifters, demons and of course, my favorite Angel. Can you tell? Yes, I LOVED it! Thank you, Shannon, for giving us another story to swoon over. My opinion hasn’t changed, Flynn is sexy as hell (no pun intended with the demon reference); but oooooh I love Luke!

**SPOILER ALERT**

As she has in her previous Cambion novels, Shannon Dermott delivers again! I love reading about Luke and Flynn and this novella made me realize how much I like Adriana. She seems to be special and maybe things can work out for her and Flynn (I'm still all for a Luke and Mercy match). I also found it pretty funny that Adelina was referred as "Hell's spawn." I really don't like her and I'm glad that Luke detested her from the start as well. It did worry me a little though that the purpose of this novella seemed to be centered around the introduction of Seroff ("Sara"). I know she's a demon and there were a lot of other hell spawn and maybe the demon hunters as well. Why is she so important? She seemed somewhat likeable and didn't hurt the guys but I REALLY DO NOT like the fact that she seemed to have such a strong hold over Luke. No no NO! This possibility alone turned me off almost enough to give 4 stars instead of 5. I really don't like her (almost as much as I hate Adelina) but I guess we'll see what the future holds...

Loved this extra look into the boys of the Cambion series!! I would love a whole book from their point of views. I have to say this book made me like Flynn just a little bit more. I'm still Team Luke :) but this book made me think that maybe Luke isn't the sweetest guy on earth and that Flynn actually does have feelings. Defiantly something to read to hold you over til The next installment in the series comes out!

I bought this immediately after finishing Waiting for Mercy and I really liked it. It was great getting to see Luke and Flyinn's friendship before Mercy, Though I wish this novel would've covered the scene at Jay's party where Flynn and Mercy kiss for the first time. all in all this is was very entertainting and I hope Sara never shows up again!

Nice little short story, makes me think we are going to see that Sara girl in the future... Possibly causing trouble between Luke and Mercy.

So I've been getting kind of frustrated with this series. Mercy bounces back and forth between like 4 main guys but there are several additional guys. This novella takes place before Beg for Mercy (book 1) and does not really include Mercy at all, though it does mention her.

Told from alternating POVs between Flynn and Luke, we delve deeper into their friendship and the crazy situations they get themselves into. I think this novella really helped me with this series. I feel like I understand Flynn much more having read it. Although, I'm not sure the novella did anything to improve my opinion of Luke and possibly just the opposite.

The fact that Flynn "saw Mercy first" is mentioned more than once throughout Beg for Mercy and Waiting for Mercy, and the reader is left to believe that Flynn first spots Mercy at the senior party they attend during the first scene of Beg for Mercy and this is where he lays claim to seeing her first. However, we find in No Mercy that Flynn spotted Mercy much sooner than the party--like at least a year before that party--but also he and Luke have discussed her in length before that party which makes the argument they have about driving her home make more sense.

All in all, I enjoyed the additional information included in this novella and thought it helped round out some of the characters, specifically Flynn. No Mercy gets 4 stars. Have you read No Mercy? What did you think? Let me know!

A must read companion to the Mercy series!!!

This was absolutely excellent! It was great to be able to get inside the heads of two of our main boys from Mercy's story. I think that there was eye opening insight into some things about both Flynn and Luke that I didn't know before, even from the other books. Which is definitely why this book is such a good companion to the rest of the books. You get a sense of what each of the guys' personality and true self is like, along with seeing the strength of their friendship. I think that it was really smart that the story was being told through both of their perspectives and we are really able to see and feel things through them individually.

Though the story's plot takes place earlier, the book itself is meant to be read as 2.5...which I think is the right timing, due to some of the things you just simply have to find out first through Beg for Mercy. It is interesting how the story pulls me back and forth from thinking of them in the current plot and then thinking about it with the knowledge of the other Mercy books I've read. Intense!

I love novellas because they give a glimpse into a time in the past of favorite characters, highlighting events in their lives before we first met them. It opens a door into more of who they are and why they acted the way they did when the story began. This novella was SUPER tasty as it is written from the perspectives of 2 of our favorite guys, Flynn and Luke. Sigh...what more do you need really? Ok, well Sebastian would've completed this delectable sandwich! But other than that, it was wonderful to hear more from the guys point of view. My love for these guys just grows and grows. How will Mercy EVER CHOOSE?!

Favorite quotes:
"Today's my birthday...And I want you for my present."

"We were best friends and brothers in this world... No matter what girls came in and out of our lives, I knew we would have each other's backs. Friends until the end."

Didn't your heart just melt a little bit with that last quote from the loyalty and love these guys have for one another? 4.5 stars!!

No Mercy was great because we got to hear things from Flynn and Luke's perspective. Even though it takes place before Beg for Mercy, it's still an awesome addition to the series and a must-read for Cambion fans. I feel like I know Luke and Flynn a lot better now, but I'm still undecided as to who I prefer. I keep going back and forth between Luke, Flynn, and Paul. Sebastian is kind of out of the running for me, but that could change :)
This is a novella that takes place before Beg for Mercy (Cambion #1) but shouldn't be read until after Waiting for Mercy (Cambion #2) because it could spoil some things that aren't revealed right away in the first two books. It's not too short so I definitely felt like I got my money's worth.

I love this story and how it was luke and flynn and how close their relationship really is, which is wierd with luke being half angel and flynn being half demon. There was enough drama that you didn't want to put it down, but it also gave a lil more information about the twins relationship with luke and flynn. Another good read by shannon even though it was short!

Patiently waiting for AOM.... We love you shannon!

I still want to do a re-read with the changes in place. Overall, it was nice getting to see inside Flynn and Luke's heads. To see that they are not necessarily just a stereotype... brings more dimension to both characters, I thought.

Most of my thoughts I am waiting to organize once I have re-read it. If you like the series, it's a good bet you'll like this short story.

Excellent novella, I expected nothing less! I really like Luke and Flynn, but they are such dogs!!! The novella hasn't changed my favoutite boy in the series - Sebastian (there is not a word about him, but I mean in comparison with these two Sara-droolers despite dreaming about one and the same dark-haired beauty, Sebastian is the epitome of virtue!)

Mmmmmmmmmm Flynn and Luke before Mercy came in the picture... Delicious!!! If you've read the other Cambion books, you should definitely stop and read this one too. If you haven't started on this series yet, I'd suggest you begin with this novella first. It'll open up your eyes to some things that might confuse you otherwise.

This was a good insight from the boys point of view (POV alternates). No Mercy made me like Luke a little less and Flynn a little better. There was also an interesting name that popped up --> Sara. It will be interesting to see if she turns up in the next book.
